  2. are you really slower? some races are so full now that one looses time behind other riders. rather compare against a set and known training route? Are you tapering off the last weeks or overtraing to the end? Are you doing enough LSDs or just gunning it?
  3. im not sure about too much food. before a race i eat oats....and then i eat patatoes as i dress. during race i take gi32 plus ptotein bars plus gells. and then after race i eat a boerie roll and a beer. then i have lunch :

  9. the cockpit setup makes the bike feel great or not. i felt that 29er wheels needs more power to move up a hill and need more momentum to keep going. i alse felt that i need more power for 2 x 10 than 3 x 10 i must now do leg training just to cycle

  11. if its relevant...90 kg mtb rider on 3 hour race at 85% of max HR? Please check the question...now how much energy you burn...not how much the body can absorb...but how much the body needs...

  13. ja im thinking that 1 x 11 is very slippery slope down to SS...Had 30 gears (dammit not enough) now 20 gears thinking of 11 gears...
  14. i see on the sram website that you have a choice of 6 front chainrings...so for me that already says its not going to work for a fullhouse of scenarios in a typical marathon race

  19. so i sucket my one gel about 40 minutes from the end of sundays 65 km babbas. man i felt great and had a strong finish even though my legs were crying foul
  20. some really interesting points here.yes sorry i should have said mtb. i ride very much on my HR to prev ent overdoing it.im concerned that the gel will spike my hr. also too much caffeine gives me the ****s. ive never tried a gel in a r ace, i will suck just one 30 minutes before the end and see how that goes. and gi32 on tge ride that stuff makes me feel awesome
