  11. We also try and do all the Babas events as a family and participate in all the different distances - great local race that is constant and gives good references for your fitness level. I agree we should rather vent our frustrations to the event organisers in a spirit to help improve vs destroy!!!
  12. This has probably been posted, but I cannot find it!! Can u use xt cassette with sram chains and visa versa?
  13. Hi - Anybody know where to get these in Pretoria?
  14. Anybody know the starting times for the different distances?
  15. Just got back from Ponta - took my bicycle, so here is an update: I took my older scott alu 26inch as opposed to my scott spark pro - wise choice as your bike takes a hammering getting there and whilst you are there First ride we tried to ride on the back road to Malongane - wow, very tough, avergae speed 4.5k/hour - 50% pushing!! From there we decided to ride on the beach - northern direction - very nice, you have to time it with the tides, you can go out about 2hours before low tide - I did a 4h30 ride one day and 2 to 3 hour rides most other days Only problem is the tides times move on every day - so you end up riding some days in the heat of the day - very tough, and as the rides move towards past midday you also get a LOT of wind But very safe on the beach and very enjoyable - will do it again!!!
  16. Thanx guys - anyone done any cycling there at all?
  17. Hi - Just wondering if anyone has done any training/cycling in these areas - I am going there on leave and need to keep up Epic preperation? Need some route advise etc!!
  18. Hi Guys Any views on these shoes - especially for use for the Epic?
  19. I bought MTB tandem 4 months ago - best buy ever!!! I take my 12 year old and it makes him fitter and me stronger as I get good work-out and don't have to wait for him - also time together!!! Me and my 15 year old take it racing - even done multi-stage race on it - really great - kids enjoy it cos everybody talks to them about the tandem at races - so really great tool and versatile!! Also able to convert it to road wheels and fork - so great for 94.7 etc with the kids and me. Still trying to convince my wife to get on it though - probably not a great idea!! DIVORSE!!!
  20. Did it - really well organised, great course and lots of fun!!!!!
  21. I RECENTLY MOVED FROM A 26 INCH CARBON HARDTAIL that weighed 9.5kg to a 29 inch carbon hardtail that weighs 11.5 ... even though it is heavier i rider better on it and am achieving better results so weight isnt everything.
  22. Where do we get pics?
  23. What do you guys eat and drink EXACTLY on long rides over 2 hours?
  24. I bought my pro about 2 months ago now - had a spark 26inch before!! I have done around 1500ks on it as well as the Sani2sea. I love the bike - it is definately faster than my 26incher, it handels the tight stuff very well and it is a blast on the straights, downhills etc. I find it a bit tougher on the steap climbs - probably mainly due to the 2x10 - legs just need to get stronger!!!!! I have done some cross country racing with it also and it handled the technical stuff very well - climbs up the steep rocky sections like a mountain goat!!! I ride my suspension quite hard and use the lock-out a lot - I have had no issues with my rear shock!!! Would be great if Scott replaced the units if there is an issue though. This bike really is fantastic and real value for money at the price/spec you get!!!
