  3. My Point .. exactly .. we have accepted a noisy lack of culture as acceptable.. I was in Italy last month.. - and in Europe last year.. Only when I came back - did I realised how conditioned to a lack of respect & a lack of culture we have become....... Its OK to enjoy something - but to become A HOOLIGAN .. I question.. the culture... My 2c opinion...
  4. BAN THE CRAP Its amazing how one can call a lack of culture = culture.........

  8. This thread has made it clear that most cyclists are elitist little (^%$%$##$@) who cannot afford the bikes they curently ride, are obscenely jeaous of people who work real hard , and can afford to buy what they WANT.... GET OVER YOURSELVES GET BETTER JOBS AND BUY YOUR DREAM BIKES... FOR F(&^%^&%$#$@#) S(*^%$%$@$@#) These theads makes regular plain cycling made people like myself who most prob, have been cycling longer than most of the little green rats who cant afford anything - have been alive - want to stop using The Hub it is us fat bling F)(*&*^&^%$( who pay for the good sh*t and in doing so make it possible for companies to offer sponsorships I SERIOUSLY MUST RECONSIDER USING THIS FORUM .........!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  9. Hi Its sad fact here in our Sunny Rainbow naton (S.A.) A person works his ass off for 20 odd years before you actually can afford any really nice kit, bicycles, plasma tv's etc.. During the hard slog up the career ladder, you sit behind a desk 14 hours a day and cannot keep your physical shape, and fitness.. where it was at 20... life sucks like that... So when you pass 35 your metabolic rate goes on strike... but your spending rate mproves... and so you buy good kit and stuff DONT BE SICKENED BUY US AS WE KEEP THE INDUSTRY ROLLING OVER, BE MOTIVATED TO GET A POSITION TO BE ABLE TO BUY, GOOD KIT BEFORE YOUR BODY SLOWS, AND YOU TOO WALK, UP "HILLS" PUSHING YOUR CARBON DREAM ....

  13. Hi I need help, which over sized MTB riser bars are considered the best used with a Thompson stem? I am aware the answers will be subjective.. I would like the Hubbers opinions
  14. Well I am a pasty white - Italian, dutch mix .. I find the whole "abama" "hamilton" etc issue - really sad because no matter what they might do or not do, no matter their SKILLS or lack of skillset they are now fashionably great people, - just cos of their skin colour We live in REALLY SAD times it is said we are equal, HOWEVER - now in 2008 just because you are "black" youre the one why cant the best person just be - just that the best.... why must the past always be thrown in our faces... Its a fact Europe developed and became civilized, while the rest of the world were still barbaric.. etc.... Africa was prosperous but now bleeds, under the blame game, - if everyone just stopped, wanting and expecting the past to be changed .. If africa was willing actually get up and work - fix the continent and stop expecting "colour" blame games to fix and repay ... then white, black, whatever the colour - the best people would be the best, not the best fashionable colour at the time..... My (%&^$*&() IRRATABLE 2 CENTS WORTH - no I dont need a drink NEWBY00072008-11-07 12:53:57

  16. Shooting was never mentioned.. Im thinking more like chips - on Bikes.. to track the f(*&^%%)rs.... On the rights - Any victim has rights, and those include the right to defend "his" property and life.. - I carry a small stun gun - to use - then when the high-jacker is down ************* - you choose -- I know from experience what my choice will be.......
  17. Cycists are already easy moving targets - for the morons & their bullets I think we have become conditioned to this cr&^p It is unacceptable, that we do nothing in an attempt to stop these attacks on cyclists.....
  18. DISGUSTING WE SHOULD START DOING SOMETHING AS UNIFIED CYCLISTS TO PUT AN END TO THIS .... DO SOMETHING HARSH IT IS TOTALY UNACCEPTABLE THTA WE MUST LIVE/CYCLE IN FEAR OF OUR LIVES, !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  19. Hi I was looking to swop it for pref a second hand thompson MTB stem, but it seems no one could get their hands on a second hand Thompson Stem and I was pm with requests for a price....... As I was asked to put a price to the entry, and so many people wanted to get the entry, I decieded - on the Bid - ( i paid more than 245 ) I beleive its a fair way to get the enrty to a serious someone wanting to do the ride, you are jumping the gun and ranting for nothing ----- find something really worth ranting about - there is so much negative c%$# in this life why must you put a negative spin on this ?????????? I am not making a killing..........NEWBY00072008-10-30 11:47:37
  20. The HUB has been nothing but great for me to do bicycle trading on.... AS S.A.IS ALREADY SO FULL OF NEGATIVE )*(&(*&^%^%$ LETS TRY KEEP THE HUB POSITIVE~!! Sorry if this is "nauziating"!~ "Mr probike"
  21. I am a relative new cycling dude, and I have had only the best experience doing business, on the HUB - Built almost two complete bikes up, with no hassles, and plenty saving LETS CHANGE OUR MIND-SETS AS S.A. CITIZES WE ARE FACED WITH SO MUCH *K^&$#@@ NEGATIVE K A K ... LETS KEEP POSITIVE ABOUT THE HUB, my 2c - sorry if it is nausiating mr "Raleigh"
  22. my 2c worth.. I agree, with mos of the Supercycling crit.. To add some salt, our Bicycle mags, here in S.A. are just as "PLAIN" i WOULD EVEN SAY BORING.. I buy the Mountain Biking, MTB , Pro cycling Mags, as they are much more informative, and have reviews. etc.. S.A. seems to lack the spark British cycling mags, and TV has to offer
  23. I'd love to be proven wrong on this one but my experience on the issue is not the same. I have never seen a wheel "break" due to too much torque applied at the hub aka too much "stopping power." The scenarios are as follows: 1) The spokes rip out of the rims 2) The spokes rip out of the hubs. 3) The spokes break. 4) The wheel collapses and tacoes. The latter I can't foresee since torque applies even tension and relieves even tension right around the rim. In other words' date=' total tension remains the same, no matter how hard you brake or accellerate. Since total tension remains the same, we know the wheel tension remains balanced and therefore a taco is unlikely, if not impossible. For the spokes to rip out of the rims, we'll have to rip all 16 pulling spokes out at once, since once again, we know the tension in all the pulling spokes remain balanced between spokes (even though invidvidual tension goes up ) and the tension in all the pushing spokes remain the same (even though individual tension goes down. For the spokes to rip out of the hubs, the same argument as above is valid. For the spokes to break, you'll have to exceed the maximum tensile strength of one spoke and multiply it by half the spoke compliment i.e. 16 spokes, convert that to torque and convert that to stopping force. Even a thumbsuck with one eye closed and Ramstein playing full blast in my headphones tells me that this is one awsome force. The breaking tension of a 1.8mm DT spoke is 250kgs (source: The Bicycle Wheel). Multiply that by 16 and you get a total load of 4000kgs or four tons. Apply that load over 250mm of spoke and you have a torque of 1000NM. If I'm correct, that's more than any sports car can produce. Assuming that the centre of the wheel is 1 m from the centre of gravity of you on your bike, you have a force of one ton on your two wrists at the moment of spoke breakage. Methings your wrists will snap first. Actually, they won't, your neck will break first since the bike will overturn with such a moerrova speed that your riding compation will observe you as being in a spin-dryer on your bike. Of course this spin dryer will only do 1/4 revolution before things get ugly. OK, theatrics aside. What will happen in a case of theoretical "too much stopping power" is a faceplant. Your wheels are safe but not your nose. PS - I have no doubt that the calculators and physics text books are now being consulted. [/quote'] Hi Johan I would not argue, its Friday.. and Im tired.. I think the force, vs Flimsy wheels is an easier win, If only cos - if i was to expain to my wife why I want new , better, more expensive wheels.. All the text book stuff although good, and Impressive and obvously to the tech, people totally true.... If - I used it I would loose my beautiful wife's attention ... I choose Mampara's theory, cos its easier to sell to my beautiful wife.. And she would want safe...
  24. Ok Thanks just checked.. these are the Shimano big "screw thread" type Spanners, wont be a problem.. I have just started as National Sales Manager for WEBCO, tools... But I need to do a Bicycle Maint.. course... These things (Bikes) change so fast.. Know of a Course?
  25. Yep Cross .. Did Freeride until last year - broke my hand and had to have two ops to sort it... Still hurts when I jump around.. which is why I moved to Road in Jan... But the wild road (motorists) users, and the call of the wild ... has lured me back..... I will look into the smaller rotor, for the back.. These rotors look, as if they are riveted,?? How would one change them?
