Bought myself a piece of S.A. cycling history today 1980's Alpina Excellent condition .. been professionally restored Full shimano 600

R4000 Buts its mint Full shimano 600 including BB and Headset, shimanano 600 hubs are clean and smooth.. Excellent paint work she's been referberbished by someone Just the saddle was worn I've put my fizik on her and sent the original saddle to be recovered in white leather I couldn't refurbish an oldie for that price Very happy Runs smooth and feels nice and firm

Bought it , I went to look and its in pristine condition

Thanks I'm also looking at a 525 Alpina but a lot worse condition So maybe 3500 isn't too bad

Hi I've been offered a 80's Alpina Strada Full shimano 600 groups etc, Reynolds 501 Needs attending to on saddle and brake hoods Paint very clean and no scratches My question What should I offer?

I will have to start I bought a second hand simple sam .. yellow Put fabric lock on grips and fizik saddle Bike is comfortable as a commuter... and cheap on wallet Will be great to cruise beaches and pubs which is the reason I got her.. Any one else have a simple sam ?

They had bikes..but refused to sell me one The excuse was the salesman was new and didn't know anything about the bikes They call the bikes colony .. a bit cheap looking I offered to assemble myself still refused to let me buy.. So I bought a second hand Simple Sam today Build quality much better than the colony

Hi I too bought a plot during the 1st Juma I shattered my femoral neck and needed a total hip replacement Best advice I got and will pass on.. Don't rush your recovery don't push the break until physio gives you the OK. . As for fear of falling .. it passes I ride occasionally now ..only thing I don't do are races, But once healed you will be back and strong .. just don't try rush the recovery. .

Moved from the Fatbike to normal wheels.. Managed to get this single speed 29er Inbred On One .. I plan to build an Inbred 29er Monster Cross I am loving the steel ride ... reminds me of hitting the streets on my BMX in the early 1980's

Update on the tubeless conversion... I used 19" x 100 motorbike tubes Last weekend I did 45km riding from Greenstone to Rosebank (Jan smuts) to watch the front runners of the 94,7 .. I noticed the tyres bleeding out the side wall and by Wed I had lost 1/2 the tyre pressure. . I added 120ml more Stans and today did 3 hours at modderfontein with no bleeding and held my pressure ..so I believe it's sorted. . Riding this bike is the most fun I have had since buying my 1st BMX 40 years ago. . Its not gonna win me any races but it's a total jol I can ride anywhere and go anywhere no track needed .. Only thing I would improve in time would be the wheelset and tyres going tubeless rims will make a huge difference . There is no need for shock upfront .. The beast will make me strong ..and I believe I will enjoy her even more once my replaced hip and leg have strengthened up .. Can't wait to ride river banks , beaches , the bits of desert in Namibia ..etc..

These arrived today , Wore them to feel if they comfy, nice,fit and stiff Now to try them on the fatty
