  1. Never ridden at Modderfontein. Is it going to be single track congestion like the races at Base 3 and the Big Red Barn?
  2. No results I can see. Strava tells me we climbed 534m over 70km, hopefully that's wrong....
  3. DId "65km" turned out to be 72km. Lost my sense of humour over the last 5 or 6km. Otherwise the race was nice.
  4. In. Also looking for route profiles.
  5. I have tried a variety of energy drinks and USN Cyto power just works for me. Tried 32GI today left me without energy after a hour on an admittedly tough ride. Have to say, I have a really high metabolism eating copiously is my ticket to good riding...
  6. I dunno, I tried the difficult short climb on the south side of the reserve this morning. More than enough rocks to keep any mountain biker happy....
  7. Did the 35km as I got lost and arrived late. For R80 it was fine, always nice to ride new tracks. They should honestly market the race bit better (including directions to the venue)......
  8. Still procrastinating about whether to enter. Bit negative about this race actually. Last year I fell hard on the rocky downhill section, in the process lost my keys, wifey had to come pick me up etc... I dunno....
  9. Shot man. Looks like its average difficulty.....
  10. Hey, I would also like to see the route profile for this one. Looking for a lekker easy 70km ride...
  11. No-one seems to have done the same distance. WTF? Personally, never once felt lost. I arrived at end and saw my slightly short distance.
  12. Was in C batch did 44.8km. Besides people getting lost, race was alright.
  13. Going to have a lekker relaxed ride tomorrow. C batch. 50km....
  14. Checked out the new saseeding website. They seem to have changed the methodology for seeding events. Seems like it's far simpler than the previous one. You get a score for every event and your best three count to your overall seeding. It also easy to drill down into your race results. Overall website is far easier to use, so well done to them!
  15. Ok, just checked the map they give out at the entrance. Seems there is single track next to a jeep track the whole way around. So Ja that will give your 20kms. I rode a bit of both for 10km....
  16. Rode out to Monument this morning, then did the trail it was pretty good, if a little short. Some technical, some single track, about 10km in total. Could combine it with Groenkloof for a slightly longer ride...
  17. The route on the Western side of the dam has quite a bit of climbing on a 6km track. I ride from Irene farm villages. Do both routes of the dam and back home, it is a 20km ride. Takes me about 1h15 (average rider)...
  18. See my post below. Stay away there
  19. Porra, that is a long time danger area. Don't even think about riding there! I was hijacked there in early 2010, not a good day. I ride Rietvlei trails (about 2km from mall) and The Big Red barn (about 5km from Irene station) they both safe. Of course there's quite a number of tracks next to the road in our area see Endomondo and Strava...
  20. Got a response from FinishLine they say that I must speak to Championchip, to whom I have now sent an email. Have a feeling this is going nowhere. Surely there should be some sort of reconciliation between people and the results.
  21. Think those results are incomplete. Maybe they have only included people with "Championchip" chips. I am not included in their results (and had no chip). There were definitely more than 115 riders there. Will follow up with Finishline cycles......
  22. Did 35km as I was a bit sick last week. Lekker fast, did a sub 1:30 (quick for me). Well marked course, generous spot prizes. Overall nice morning out.
  23. In. Did one earlier this year. Limited suffering....
  24. No you can only ride next to the Dam/Fishing Area. There are two short trails amounting to about 13km in total. Have you tried the track at the Big Red Barn? It is about 10km from PVR. About 25km of single track there.
  25. Rode the "blue" intermediate course today. This course is a great way of building your confidence over relatively technical terrain. Great, great fun...
