I can't speak from an official point of view, as I have no connection with the organising, but the guys are busy with the course, and the dullest bit of last years course has been taken out, and more singletrack added.

OK, I'll qualify my statement by admitting that I did not do the race....but as someone who lives, rides and explores in the iarea I agree that adding Suikerbosrand to the name is a misnomer. There are more interesting opportunities available than pottering about the plotte.

Also did my first 50 (well in 15 years) this week. 90% offroad. Does it still count as a 50 if 17 km was downhill? Or is that just called good planning?

Have done one or two closer to Meyerton, mostly tracking the R59. One idea is to park at the Blockhouse Engen and explore from there. Exploring is half the fun!
