That is nonsense. The goverment states that we have the same rights and the goverment decided that cyclist do not need to pay a license fee. Plus all those cyclist have all car and have paid a license fee they are just using another vehicle which is except from a license fee so the motorbikes are talking nonsense.

The motorist will tell you that anyway. Do you know how many cars passed me while their wheels are on the yellow line? Accept you live in a lawless country and motorist will not change. The authorities will not police safety but rather target the easy targets. This brings me to another point if I am riding on the right side of the road I only see the cars are close to me when they pass me, if I had to face them surely I would see them riding on the yellow line or in it long on advance.

Have you ever reported any road user? I have and nothing happens to that person. Look for the route cause if the problem.

TNT please go read the AARTO rules see what is legal and what not. Highway is not mentioned. What do you see as a highway ? If is is every dual cartridge way then you are wrong. On certain section of a N road is classified as a Freeway. And road can be a freeway even a R road. The R27 in CPT is a dual cartridge way but NOT a freeway. Actually forget it, keep saying no to everything it is easier to live uninformed in a bubble I am out if here

And it is legal to ride there. I found that interesting almost shocked when I first heard that. I was also under the impression that a median meant highway or freeway and thus you can ride on it but I was clearly wrong. I called various traffic departments and looked at the AAARTO website and the law states that cyclist may not ride on a FREEWAY. So technically if it does not say it is a freeway then you can ride on it BUT is it safe? That is another story.

So what did I have wrong? Cyclist are not allowed on a freeway? The N1 is NOT a freeway until the sign. Believe me I investigated this VERY well. You saying the same ad me. Not only N roads are freeway ANY road can be a freeway and then you can not ride on it. But a road is NOT automatically a freeway because it has a median, it is only a freeway when stated so by those boards saying FREEWAY BEGINS.

Only illegal on a FREEWAY. if you mean freeway when saying highway then yes If you asking N road the. No it is not. Only certain section of a road is a freeway an it is normally marked with signs where it starts or stop and where you enter or exit a freeway. For excame the N1 in CPT is only a freeway from the R27 turnoff. So you are allowed to be on it till there.

I just can not understand that people keep thinking that because someone for hit facing traffic they will not get hit riding the other way. What is the logic there? The car should not have been there but people here don't seem to get it. Getting hit next to to the road will happen no matter which way you face. If you were cycling the other way the car would have stil hit, it is the direction you were going that was the problem but the car that is not suppose to be so close to you. I am not saying break the rule just applying logic here

There is already something like that in the pipeline. PPA is very vocal about it...I am all for it....as long as it is not a soft target approach and the same is done to other road users. You can have as many laws as you want but if it is not fairly enforced then what does it help? And well done to that motorist he clearly has respect for his fellow road user. Wish more people would be like that rather than hoot and overtake with center era between you and the car.
