  1. Naive of them to include such single track as they did. Doesn't take rocket science to see it. A big commercial race like that obviously needs big commercial tracks. As an occasion it was brilliant, but it leaves a sour taste in the mouth. EVERYONE who enters a "race" is entitled to "flowing" track. If it's not, they paid, so they are certainly entitled to complain. Otherwise don't bother timing it, (what's the point?) and let's call it a ride.
  2. I was in A2 so had no hassles, but the kids did 15k from C2 and Mrs. Spinsei did the 30k from B2 and had 30 minute bottlenecks in the single track... not cool... should I be pissed off or should it be expected?
  3. Reseed was real easy actually. Fill in form, fax, get sms with new number and start time. Easy...
  4. Regarding re-seeding, I never actually got a reply, but on the sms they sent I got a new number and start time. Both for MTB and Road.
  5. The good @ProfTimNoakes is a prolific tweeter. I personally have had about 5 twitter chats with him. I don't know how he manages. Good guy.
  6. well run race series. world class. just would love if they had them on a sunday... i work saturday mornings
  7. Tip that worked for me: Use it / don't use it Got a bit stuck with ketones hovering around 0.1 - 0.3 mmol for a couple of months. So that's not officially ketosis. Started tracking diet strictly on My Fitness Pal app http://www.myfitnesspal.com/ and was amazed at the amount of carbs. You THINK you are low carb, but those carbs really creep up on you if you don't track them. Gone really low carb and HIGH fat this week. Paying off. Ketones 1.7mmol this a.m. and BG 3.9mmol.
  8. MCT oil is the fat from coconut oil that has been centrifuged. MCT is the just the magic ingredient in the coconut oil. It's expensive so I just go for coconut oil. 1 tbsp 3 times a day sometimes in coffee (not a big coffee drinker) and I cook with it. Not fry, just add it to everything.
  9. You can't "cheat" on a ketogenic diet. It will throw you out of ketosis if you "cheat". Takes a couple of weeks pretty miserable and uncomfortable lo-carb hi-fat eating to achieve ketosis. Anyways, if you are eating enough fat (65-75% fat) you won't get cravings for carbs like bread, sweets, chocolate etc. anyway. I'm keto adapted, takes ONE meal to throw me off and four or five miserable days to get back. Ketosis is comfortable, pointless losing it. Keto bodies measured 0.9mmol this a.m. & blood glucose at 3.9mmol.
  10. They have in my Spar! Groenkloof PTA
  11. Maybe you've seen this, maybe not. It's making a big splash in Australia, so much so the Aus Heart Foundation put out a statement on Facebook. Part 2 came out last night. Give it a watch. http://m.youtube.com...ture=youtu.be … Part 2 here http://www.abc.net.au/catalyst/heartofthematter/
  12. wouldn't it be better on a Sunday...? 'cos I'm working...! dammit... just askin'
  13. The Momsen range seems pretty well equipped at a decent price. Check them out on Facebook. Think you should probably look at a medium.
  14. Nearly killed dudes. Ave HR over 165 for 5 hours. Hottest temp 45 degrees. Ave 38 degrees according to mates Garmin. Okes were chucking their bikes into the bush and diving in the river.
  15. Man, what a hoot! Road trip to Parys, lunch at Hoi Paloi, dinner at O's lovely hotel. We rode to the venue from the hotel like gangsta's. Quick race and home in Pta by 13:00. Fantastic weekend. Sure it was a boring road race on dust, but as a weekend, it rocked.
  16. Seriously? It's a once a year cycling festival... wouldn't miss it. What are u saving by missing it dude? Its a crappy dinner for two at Spur... 1/3 tank of petrol (hint: ride to work and back three times)... a hand basket of groceries at woolies (hint: leave out the sweets and biccies for a month)... a trip to the movies... four car washes... half a DSTV subscription for the month... a crate of beers... a Tapout t-shirt...
  17. Inspiring dude. I'd love to say I'm a triathlete... but while I might float like a butterfly... I swim like a brick... glug... glug... glug...
  18. I use the Wahoo app (had a RFLKT on my old bike until it got nicked - sad face, so its out of habit I guess) and afterwards share to Strava or Garmin or Nike+ whatever. No issues on iOS7.
  19. Awesome investigation skills there Magnum PI... impressive. Wasn't stating that they were implementing the rule, was just wondering out aloud what everyone thought about it. Of course... the natural reaction of the lesser spotted hubber is... MUST ATTTTTACCKKKK!!!!
  20. retweeted by MarathonMTB.com... use it don't use it... couple of years ago everyone had bars that narrow.
  21. next you'll be telling me I need sleeves...
  22. Saw this tweet this morn... "New uci rules are going to limit bars to 580mm" What do you "cow horns" say??? Rumour, substance, why, why not? I say... Give me 720mm or give me death!!! Begone with your tape measure you UCI Commissar bastard!
  23. So here's me new Beasty. I know it's nothing too special, but I really do love it. Got it Friday and raced the Spring Classic yesterday
  24. Was not looking forward to Avianto again after last weeks duathlon... in which I kaked off. But was on me new Scott Spark 940 beastie. So intended having a stomp. Got there late (left me helmet and me shoes at home, whoops, had to go and fetch them... duh...) Started the 45k in last place in batch F or G, whatever it was, but had a jol overtaking everyone. There was a bit of a bottleneck on the first single track climb. Some tools were cutting across the field, obviously convinced they were gonna win from D batch... which seemed a bit like taxi logic to me, backing EVERYONE else up further... (anyways... smile and wave...) But... all in all, great event. Tough ol' course, but was really nice. Well done designers. Couple of beers in the tent after with the family was lekker. Biggest score of the year though... got a bib for R50... heehaw! Thanks Eqstra!
  25. Bike stolen on Tuesday ???? insurance paid out yesterday. Hatfield Cycles on the ball. Great deal on the Spark 940. Racing tomorrow at Avianto on me new Beasty! ????
