  1. By the way a scratch that happens in transit under the way they were packed looks like the scratch on the lever. I just find it interesting that in his Photo when selling the wron rotor was under the good one the "damaged" caliper was turned to the good side and the lever that could have gotten scratched in transit was also hidden...... Make your own conclusion.
  2. I hardly see how the brakes get damaged in a box and how DIRT gets into the rear caliper (in a box in a plastice bag). The picture of the Caliper is a very clear showing that is could have been damaged in an bike accident or something similar. Remember these were packed in a box and the rotors and the brakes were in thick separate plastic bags. The box was NOT damaged at all on the outside (I can take Photo's to prove it). The scratches are a bit deeper than the scarping of the brakes against each other while in transit. This is not brand new brakes. The one Rotor is shot, the other has been used a bit. There is 6 bolts instead of 12 bolts for the rotors and the brake pads have marks on their surfaces showing that they have been used. This is not brand new brakes (let alone Rotors) You sold me something under the "Brand New" term and then when I enquire about the Rotors you tell me they have been used as I was selling "NEW Brakes" but "Not New" Rotors (this was only brought up AFTER I receieved the parts from you. I did not get a good deal as I explained in my PM. I paid R1300 for the brakes from you but a new rotor is R380 from CRC which is at least R400. Thats R1700 I will have to pay to use them. Just admist you have not been honest in this deal. Your posting said "Brand New 2010 Magura Louise Hydraulic Disc Brakes for sale, front and rear, with 160mm rotors" and I even asked you on the phone. You said they are Brand new clearly they are not. I have been honest and even given you some options to which you sent me quite a rude reply. Hence I will not give up.
  3. As per the the request I will start a new topic about him to name and shame. I will also insert him into the scammers section as it is clear that he does not wish to respond at all.
  4. @Thug those are the correct Photo's they are a different colour either side of the calipers, so it depends on what side you look at. He was clever in his photo. I have a response from Admin Hi Gordon, I'm sorry to hear of this unfortunate situation. While these make up a small percentage of transactions, it's certainly something we're looking to stop (or at least minimise as far as possible). We're currently developing a revamped classifieds section, with one of the key new features being "Trader Rating and Feedback". This will allow buyers and sellers to rate each other and provide comments (positive or negative) following a sale. This rating will be very visible on the item listing so buyers will have a bit more info at hand to assess the sale. While this will help to a large degree, it's still not a perfect solution as ultimately someone has to provide negative feedback (i.e. experience a bad sale) before others will know about it. However, we hope that users will be able to make a more informed decision and better understand the risks (e.g. with a new / unrated seller) and thus minimise cases like this. For now, I'd suggest first contacting the seller to negotiate a refund (although given your message I'm sure you've tried this route already). The next option would be to name and shame - you could simply start a new thread in the General Notices forum for this. Please let me know if you have any questions, comments or suggestions. Kind Regards,
  5. I have asked Admin for some advice and if they are willing to setup something to help people being warned about certain sellers/buyers etc. As for the "The perception of the seller is always different to that of the buyer" in some cases this is true, but when you get a part that you have to straight away put into the bin then they took it too far. I would have ignored the scratches but a new rotor is R400. It changes the whole deal. He was just trying to off load his old used parts in a dishonest manner. I even spoke to him on the phone and he confirmed they were brand new from a new bike.
  6. let me see what I can find out about getting some section started for such a thing
  7. Psssssst Psssssst damn still around :-(
  8. Is that not what the scammers post at beginning of the classified section is for?
  9. Just done that
  10. That was a pic of the real parts he just got clever how to place the parts. I once used the small claims court for R500 because the person lied to me. Not only did I win it but they got served a notice to attatch their goods at work ( which to me was the best part) so there is lots of options.
  11. I posted his reply via sms after he has read my personal message. I think that says a lot of what kind of person he is. Sad there is not much trust left in this world. Bet he is a used cars salesman
  12. And for the record I have asked him for a part refund so it can go towards a new rotor or a full refund and I will ship the parts back to him. That was the response I got. Like I have also said the GF only wanted new parts. She is so disappointed and will never buy a thing from the hub again and this was her first buy. From now on she said she would rather pay more at an LBS. Very sad indeed
  13. Damn those things infest every where, pretty much scum
  14. So we seem to all agree. Let's have people thoughts on my next move...... I have a few some mild some hot.
  15. Let's give the person one last chance. Oh and if you go back to his one photo he was clever and knew he was selling 2nd hand parts. Put the one good rottor on top of the bad one, turned the scratched caliper to show the good side and also the scratched lever. Looks like it was a sign of a person that knew how to scam. Should they enter the "scammers" section. Me thinks so
  16. The one Rotor is shot, the amount of dirt does not explain one ride and the scratches would mean they are a very very bad rider :-) Gummibear I think your right :-)
  17. The thought that counts still stands but the bonus is just smaller :-)
  18. It's not the point one could buy other discs but his post said with rotors and showed magura rotors and they were brand new. I would never have bid for 2nd hand parts because that's not what I was looking for. Now I must fork out more money which makes the deal a bad deal
  19. Ok finally got a reply...... I was sold: Brand New 2010 Magura Louise Hydraulic Disc Brakes for sale, front and rear, with 160mm rotors. The One rotor is shot, the one caliper was still dirty, scratched and the one lever is scratched. Note the groove on the one rotor nearly half a mm deep. His replys to me is I originally wanted 2k for the brakes and sold them for 1300, so just accept that you got a good deal and get over yourself.... Is it a good deal when you are nearly R400 for a new Rotor? They are definately not new, the pads show they have been used, the question is how much did he hse them. So what shall I do...... mmmmmmmm Name and shame him on the hub?
  20. I have spoken to the person with not too much luck and also sent a mail to him with some new options. I will wait and see what they say. You have to always give a person a chance to explain or retify the problem before taking it further. The person I feel very sorry for is the GF. She was so excited about the "New" parts, and it's not often one can get the GF excited about bike parts.... If they were really "Brand New" I may have gotten the bonus package
  21. dirt-rider I should hope that any slick in your garage is still brand new :-) Very Valid point but if he had used the terms "as good as new" I would no doubt have never even made a bid for the parts. I was sold the parts under the "Brand New, Taken off a Brand New bike". I even asked several questions when talking to the person on the phone and I was assured they were taken off a "Brand New" bike. The one part has to be thrown away which means I have to spend R400 in order to be able to use the parts. I have bought lots of parts taken off new bikes and they are as good as "Brand New" Money is not really the problem, but the GF wasb looking for New parts not 2nd hand. The Hub as far as I know works on a "Honest Policy" which is how I work when selling on the Hub. On the Up side My own bike is styling after buying quite a few "Brand New" parts recently so at least I can hit the trails while the GF sits by the car due to lack of parts ready to hand me an ICE COLD beer as I finish
  22. I am specifically keeping the persons name out of the situation as I have phoned him/she once and recently sent a PM and waiting for a response. Depending on the response is how I will react. In the mean time it's worth finding out what people on the hub think the words Brand New mean. May be I have the wrong opinion on the words. Guess the GF won't be getting her upgrades soon :-(
  23. @dirt-rider Nest time I need some slicks for my MTB bike I will contact you, I am sure you will have a set of Brand New MTB tires for me
  24. Hi, No I didn't buy anything from Dirt_rider, I was just commenting on his thoughts. I did however buy something from a hubber that is definately not brand new in my mind and one part I will have to throw out. (Quite an importtant part might I add that I would have to replace at a fair cost). Hence the reason for the poll. I am interested to see what people think the words mean.
  25. @Cycho The words "As New" would have explained half of the package the other half should have been totally F******
