    CWC Rock

Not a bad site and prices are ok... Still didn't beat the 5x XT cassettes at R450 each and shipping was split between 4 of us so each cassette cost R470 from CWC. Gotta stock up on 9 Speed while we can

    Move to JHB
  3. Read this on their site one day: bit of copper grease between the piston and the back of the pad sorts it out. The GF has had no problems at all since she bought the Storm SL rotors and the preformance pads. Been going a year now and no problems at all (without the grease)

Wow yet again another super fast delivery from CWC. New recors I think, 25hrs from the time I clicked Pay to the time it arrived at my office in JHB......
  5. @The real MJ That comment on laughing at the wife i think you can the first time but definately not the 2nd. Did the 3 towers with the GF. Day 1 she had a huge crash (no laughing matter) but Day 2 I laughed when she almost crashed (rear wheel high in the air while going down a steep slope). She saw the humour but when she alomost crashed a 2nd time that day and I laughed (it did look funny from behind and she didn't actually crash) I got the silent treatment for the next 10km. Suppose I deserved it. All in moderation But how can u not laugh when they loose control down a hill but manage to grab a tree on the way down and stop still standing over the bike.... Must by a GoPro
  6. Ha Ha the common problem. I also have the same situation with my GF. While she knows I am alot faster and does allow me to up and down the hill (in fact all is good as long as I go up and then go back down to ride with her the rest of the hill) there seems to be a fine line. Seems to just depend on the day (never worked out the formula). One day I can race off and come back as many times as i like, and all is cool, the next day I do the same and things seemed rather quiet when I come back........ Mmmmm Thats when I should get the first hint she would like me to ride with her for a while, but we all know what happens.... I race off again When you get back things are even more quiet, to a point that even the rolling wheels on the dirt have gone quiet.... Guess we never learn Actually all not that bad. I have made a deal with her for next years Sani training as she finally got an entry (She is riding with a frined). 1 day of the weekend I will train with her but the next day she can ride with the friend or not ride and I can either go with a faster crowd or go on my own. Suppose it's all about balance. One thing I can say is I would rather be riding slowly every ride with the GF than when I was married to someone that only shopped 24/7 in the malls over the weekends and still moaned if I went for a 2 hr ride once on the weekend. I would even ride at 4km/hr as long as I am out there on the bike. Life is gooooood now
  7. I have had a bike with XT wheels on the back of the bakkie sitting in the rain (pretty heavy rain) while I was sitting having a beer. When the rain stopped we carried on the journey. As it's XT hubs we are talking about and they had just been serviced for the 100th time (got to love the seals on the XT wheels not) I decided to take a look at the before we rode the next morning. Just from the one down pour I found water in the hub. Not much but there was some in the rear hub. To cut a long story short it's better to try prevent. Not all bikes are equal and have the same seals etc, so one headset may let water in while another won't. I solved her problem, bought new wheels with Hope hubs since then I hardly look at the hubs. Thanx rouxtie for the sale. How you carry out the prevention is up to you.
  8. Don't use riser bars myself but these look pretty nice and light http://www.ritcheylogic.com/dyn_prodfamily.php?k=281840
  9. I will be setting up the trainingt bike with a 1x1 as soon as I find out where they are going to hold the SS world champs in SA this year. Can't wait
  10. I have been riding with a std 3x9 (11-32 cassette) except I took the granny gear off which made it a 2x9 on my training bike. On my "racing" bike I still run a 3x9. The reason is I like the full range. One day your riding a race with extreme amounts of hills and another you riding a much flatter course that requires a lot more speed. I can't affor to run a 2x10 and keep swapping out the chain rings at the front to suit a course. Last Sani I was watching some guys spinning like crazy as there were riding the smaller chain rings up front on their 2x10 setup, but when I asked why he didn't put the bigger ones up front he said he would never make the hills. We are not all pro's but we all share the passion for riding, and love to ride a hill rather than walk it, even if your riding 3km/hr. That's why for me the 3x9 setup covers all the rides I do. I have now just change the gears on my training bike again. I am back to running a 3x9 again. 48/36/26 up front and 11-25 road bike cassette at the rear. While the final drive when in granny and the 25 at the back gives me almost the same as a std middle chain ring up front and the 32 at the back, I now have a harder top end. Definately not an easy bike to ride but great for training with. Did my first off road with it on Sat and it will take quite some time to get used to. Guess everyone to themselves, as long as we are all enjoying it. I just hope they keep making 3x9 shifters etc, but sadly they seem to be only going the 2x10 route.
  11. I think that will be your first time on a normal bike when you do it twice :-)
  12. Looks to me like he was not going for a 2nd lap hee hee.
  13. He had about 5mm gap between pedal and road due to the crank arms being off a normal BMX... Note he still kepts the kiddies saddle on ha ha
  14. You won't believe they just phoned me to ask if all was in order. They said I was lucky the guy that ordered a few hours after me for the same thing, they have run out of stock of the edge 500 bundle. Not to worry they will even send the edge 500 non bundle with separate speed/cadence sensor and HRM strap just so he gets his goodies. They are willing to do that today even though more stock should arrive tomorrow....
  15. Will definately buy from them again in the future
  16. Big up to the Awesome service from the guys at easygis.co.za Not only did they have the cheapest price by far for the Garmin Edge 500 but it arrived within 27hrs Now that is grrrrrrrreat service
  17. Still need to 100% confirm with the partner but I think she is cool with it.
  18. Hi, I am just trying to find out if there is anyone that would like to move from the Trail to the Adventure. I have a lot more friends riding the Trail so would like to ride with them
  19. That was a pic of someone elses paragon. There is a few around. Believe me I don't have red cycling shorts

    MTB pedals

I have just been through the old process. Shimano SPD's, ritchey spd's then I went egg beaters, then Look quartz now back to Shimano XT spd's. Eggbeaters didn't last long at all (older version) look qurtz were very nice except the cleats only last 6 months max then u start to un-clip all the time. Even the crank brothers brass cleats seemed to last longer. Back to shimano XT pedals 2012. Strong reliable and work every time. You may not be able to un-clip on your current ones due to the tension, but if they worked before without you changing the setting spray some Q-20 on the springs. I had this problem before and it was just the springs a little tight from dirt etc. If you go eggbeaters consider the candy's. The bigger platform helps alot. Going from the eggbeaters to the look quartz was great due to the larger platform.
  21. Far from that. Still on a 26inch carbon HD :-) some of us like it tough or more to the point bank manager does not agree with one's vision
  22. The age old weight issue. I have been running no tubeless tires for years, this is the first tire I have come across that has issues :-(
  23. Thanx. I will take them off and apply loads of cleaning. Seems to leak out the side wall at 1 spot
  24. Ok. I did that to the first tire. Just wanted to make sure meths was the right stuff. Wonder if it has to be done a 2nd time if you had the tire off for more than a few days
  25. it's not the bike I am worried about it's the damn Doc. and his telling me off. Bike will be super ready by the time 3 towers happens.
