  1. Thanks holy roller thats what a mate of mine said!
  2. I'm gonna have a look at my LBS this weekend and see what they have. Cyclelab only has Trek though as I gave them a call and the cheapest they got is the 4500 at R5800. Wasn't planning on spending that much though.
  3. So I should forget about 'entry-level' because of shock quality? So mid-range will get me at least Rockshox and decent components.
  4. So Oliver are Suntour shocks not cool? It seems that all entry level bikes come with them though. Most of the bikes reviewed in Bicycling mag had them.
  5. Thanks for the opinions guys. I did see the article in Bicycling mag so I'm looking for one of those preferably (or similar). Most entry-level mtbs have Suntour shocks, are these any good though? They not gonna bottom out on my first ride? I'm just looking to ride trails- nothing hectic.
  6. Hey guys I know this has been asked before but what bikes shall I look at when it comes to getting my first mtb? Any bikes to avoid, any you can reccomend? Budget is about R4000. Shot.
  7. Hey hubbers to courier an mtb from Cape Town to Durban how much would it cost and who should I go through? Any advice on who I should avoid and any secrets? Thanks guyskeith2008-05-27 08:00:25
  8. Hey guys (no offense to Clinty) is the Trek 4300 in the Classifieds a good buy for a first mtb? Thanks
  9. When I went hunting for my bike (ended up buying an entry level Schwinn) I found that Raleighs for what they offered entry level wise were not cheap, and a guy at my LBS said the same thing to me. Many people on the hub seem to ride them though if you look at the members pictures!
  10. I cracked two ribs last week wednesday and sleeping and sneezing have been duzi! But shall be back on the bike on sunday Best of luck with the collarbone!
  11. Thanks for all the advice and opinions guys I think I shall be purchasing a set this weekend
  12. Thanks guys! Just out of interest what sets them apart from a R2000 pair of Shimano wheels? Is it because Eastons are hand-made?
  13. Thanks pererace. Being deep(ish) how does this effect the ride? Make it smoother?
  14. I can get them here at my lbs for R2000- which isn't bad. Been reading reviews on them and people mention the weight quite a bit- they not heavy are they?
  15. Hey guys are the Easton Vista's a good set of rims? Anyone have experience with them? Looking to replace my Alexrims R500's- is this an upgrade? Thanks guys! I know I always have lots of questions
  16. I cant find a pic, but you say entry level Shimano's are about the same quality as my entry level Alexrims? If so, it clears up a lot for me.
  17. Hey guys I saw wheels very similar to these this weekend at CycleLab for R2000. Are they any good or should I get something else? Considering I am replacing my Alexrims R500's (which are entry level) and don't need anything fancy Let your knowledge flow... http://www.madison-davisbicycles.com/assets/images/Shimano_Wheels__1.21.06.jpg
  18. Hey guys my knowledge on wheels is at a minimal even after research! Which are better: Alexrims R500 Wheelset or the Alex A-Class ALX 260 Wheelset? Are Alexrims any good? Please overflow me with info cause at the moment I've got none Shot!
  19. Awesome! I'm in Do you just wanna PM the details later on in the week?
  20. Thanks muxman! Was thinking the same things- just gonna have to save and not buy groceries for the next few months
  21. I'm keen! What speed do you guys average? Am I gonna be able to keep up?
  22. Yeah andrewbell I've been checking on the hub and I've seen eastons quite a few times. Will look into it. I've ridden snake park to umhlanga and back a few times and average 28 kms/h, which I think is ok for a beginner right? What time you guys riding on sun? Shot
  23. Muxman they came with cleats, not toe straps, so I look a little bit cool I also got a helmet to protect my noggen!
  24. Well andrewbell not much hey- considering the bike just over 4K- spending thousands on wheels would be a bit ironic

Any suggestions of what to upgrade? I've heard that rolling weight like rims are always noticeable once upgraded. I don't have to upgrade anything as I'm still a newbie, but would like too
