  1. Checks the scoreboard, 4 RWC Trophies baby... They can't take it away...
  2. Hectic!
  3. Team lists not cast in stone yet. Following his crash he might have reconsidered trying to prep for Le Tour seeing as Giro was off the cards. He needs some kilometers on the legs before Olympics... If he goes to TDF, I think expectations will be much lower than it would have been had he had a perfect run-in.
  4. Most of us can probably get by with less clothes than we think. Just need to avoid the cold wind before the race start. For me, gloves are the first thing I need as the temperatures drop. Next is arm warmers. Then long tights. And only on the coldest morning do I put on a light First Ascent windbreaker. (Disclaimer, this all is in the highveld winters, so zero precipitation. Cape will be different)
  5. Adam Hansen @HansenAdam As it unfolded: On the rest day, the CPA first contacted all stakeholders to arrange an agreement based on the weather forecast for stage 16. It was clear that the conditions on Umbrail Pass should invoke the UCI extreme weather protocol, and the riders proposed eliminating this pass to avoid 2 degrees with snow during the long descent. The riders' intention was to have a full race without having to stop and restart due to extreme weather. The riders stood united in their decision, which was communicated to show the seriousness of their stance. After many hours of negotiations on the morning of the race, the CPA did their best to convey the riders' seriousness in avoiding today's situation. In the end, it was clear that Umbrail Pass could not have been raced as local authorities closed the pass due to too much snow. If the riders had raced, as the stakeholders wanted, the race would have stopped at the Umbrail Pass. Please remember, the riders' intention was always to race from point A to B and put on a show, exactly like they did and how a race should be. So ultimately, due to the weather, the original race course could not have been completed. Especially since before the race had even started, it was 0 degrees with snow. If that does not invoke the extreme weather protocol, then what does? It is 2024; we need to have a clear protocol in place for all stakeholders to understand and accept to preserve the good image of cycling. A "let's see how it goes" approach, especially today, would have resulted in riders on the side of the road, scattered all over the climb, looking for shelter in the snow. This is not the solution for ensuring the riders' health.
  6. 5°C, Rain... What's not to love...
  7. Today... @BenjiNaesen I spoke to multiple riders today in relation to their problems with tomorrow's Stage 16, and their opinion on RCS' "solution". "Problem is, we often feel like clowns in a circus." "Tomorrow, it's 0 degrees on Umbrailpass, so the descends are tricky, and there's risk of hypothermia, especially in case of rain or snow." "Even if you are well-dressed in a bunch, you get wet in a few minutes with the water coming from the road." "Even yesterday, after sweating on the climb, I was freezing and cross-eyed in the descent, and that's when it was sunny." "Stopping at the top for a 3-minute neutralised is not realistic. What do you do with the breakaway, the bunch and with the dropped riders? It will take ages for staff to get the riders and get changed to descend." "The safest option is starting the race in the valley after Umbrailpass." "Us riders, we need to stand together but it gets complicated when RCS says they're OK with only 2 teams starting. And invited teams have no say. Call their bluff." #Giro
  8. +1 for Saucony I ran in Brooks for years, then decided to try Saucony Triumph in 2022 when they went on sale. Absolute Bliss! Got new pair of Brooks at the start of this year and now I can't stand them, so will do my junk miles in the Brooks. Saucony is now my shoe of choice.
  9. Top Ganna Smashes it. Let's see if anyone, including Pogacar, can come close. 1° GANNA Filippo 52' 01'' 2° BJERG Mikkel + 01' 39'' 3° MILESI Lorenzo + 01' 55'' 4° HOOLE Daan + 02' 15'' 5° AFFINI Edoardo + 02' 25''

  11. I forgot to mention the Bike trailer-arm part, kids enjoyed it too: (check my profile pic too)
  12. I did countless runs with our Running Pram, especially to give myself some fresh air and give the wife some time off. Two kids works fine, but they obviously tend to get into disagreements w.r.t. space. A single kid is very happy with the ample space. I enjoyed running with it and once you are used to the handling you can really motor on flat and undulating terrain. Even clocked a Sub-5min/km 5k and a 5:25min/km 10k with a kid in the pram. I see you are in Pretoorsdorp @Zama7, you are welcome to borrow mine with the option to buy if you'd like. I am not using it anymore
  13. Fantastic run-in today, happy for the breakaway to win if the Sprinters Teams play chicken with each other.
  14. I'm at the point where I just need to accept them like you accept the drunk Uncle/Aunt at the Christmas dinner. Nothing you say will change them and you just need to accept they are part of the package deal...
  15. What the actual...?! These UCI officials need to go get a life. You're seriously threatening the race leader with disqualification for something like this?! Aren't there sock lengths they can scrutinize or shifter hoods that are tilted just a little bit too much to keep them occupied anymore.🧐
  16. 2min42 for the break, with 59km remaining. Odds are not currently in their favour
  17. Modern medicine is truly incredible. Think about Siya Kolisi and Pollard in 2023, we all asumed they won't make the RWC, and yet they truly brought their A-game.
  18. Two Oceans maybe? Been following his investigations and the "cover-up" seems mind boggling. Why not just come clean and say "we messed up", most people accept an honest apology.
  19. Credit to Francois Jordaan and team for the honest and detailed write-up of what transpired. (Other race organisers should take note of how to respond when the paw-paw hits the fan) I'll do the Wally again.
  20. Not in reply to yours specifically, but in reply to doping insinuations in general. The top dogs in a sport are prime suspects for doping, but I'd wager that the bottom-of-the-pile riders have more incentive than generational riders like Pog/MvdP to dope because they need results to stay in-the-game.
