  1. I have both Garmin 910XT and Suunto Ambit 2. Both work perfectly, through swim, cycle and run. Garmin has added advantage of splits for transition times. Ambit 2 can be worn as a daily watch as well
  2. Ditto, nothing but excuses since November!
  3. I got nothing yet
  4. I see TSA still listing Triple Crown off road triathlon at Buffelspoort on 6th October as provisional. 3 weeks to go and there is no other info or anywhere to enter. Anyone have more info?

  6. entered 45km but see on the route on the website it is 38.6km? or is that last years route?
  7. Where can we enter? I have seen the listings on TSA but no other info can be found, including how or where to enter ..... Or have I missed something?
  8. Agree with S.I.R Maxxis, ran for a year with slimes tubes before switching to tubeless. for me the biggest advantage tubeless over slimes tubes is that I run the tire pressure way lower than with the tubes. I was paying R100 per 29er slimes tube and after wrecking a few running low pressure decided to switch to tubeless. Another plus for tubeless imo is the puncture repair when it is too big for slime to seal, tubless plugs quicker and easier than removing tyre and tube to repair.

  19. Damn, had to fly to DBN yesterday and it seemed like everyone on the plane had flu, now this morning I feel like it may have its clutches in me! Anyone got a quick fix? I've made it almost all the way through winter and taking off next week to go fishing in Dullstroom!
  20. I have also had nothing but good service and value from Evobikes. I bought a set of Sram XO brakes from CRC and got the same as you did, no rotors no adaptors no bolts. I recall that when I bought rotors they came with bolts and the adaptors were specific to type of mount iso or post and the size of the rotor 140, 160, 180 etc. and also bought separately.
  21. My mistake, if you read my first reply I did say Spark and in reply to you did mention with rear shock. The weight of the Scott is irrelevant as it is not alloy like the Vida, Orbea Alma and Niner EMD9. My point is that the Orbea and Niner weigh marginally less than the Vida, I don't care what they state in the pamphlets, these are actual weights of large frames with nothing more than headset cups. The original poster is asking what can he get for R5k. I suggested a Vida5. I was then told I was being ridculous to suggest this as a starting point to be followed up by upgrades to wheels, crankset etc. The reasoning was that the Vida weighed 3kg and more expensive frames weighed less and thus cost a lot more. They don't. In my experience the wheels offered the most weight saving followed by cranksets. Also upgrading these led to lower rolling resistance (lower weight better bearings). I posted to give some ideas on what could be gotten for R5k, telling the dude not to buy a R5k bike but to spend R15 to R20k is a bit mute if he is only willing to spend R5K.
  22. I had the same set ups as davidlangebaan and the same feedback, took a while to get used to but totally happy with both.
  23. don't believe everything you read, I actually own the frames I have mentioned here and these are actual weights on the same scale. the scott spark includes the rear shock
  24. My Vida 5 frame weighed 2.2kg. I have since bought an Orbea Alma 29er frame which weighed 2.1kg (this bike sells for R25k new) I also own a Niner EMD whose frame weighs 1.9kg. I also own a Scott Scale Expert 29er and it's frame weighs 2.3kg. I have also ridden all these bikes and the Vida is not lacking in anyway. Don't tell me my advise / opinion is ridiculous. If you have unlimited funds good for you. My advise to someone wanting to spend max R5k on a 29er is sound unlike your don't buy secondhand get a S-works theory
