  1. I was fortunate to have a garage built to accommodate my bicycles. Then had a helmet cupboard and kit cupboard added.
  2. My kid just loves Greg Minnaar!!!
  3. Hi Chaps, I have access to three 2014 GT Fury's if anyone is interested. email me at lawrence@gravity-life.com
  4. Sorry agteros ....not sure why you replied with that comment!!! I am quoting what my Cardiologist told me.
  5. There were no signs at all. It just sprung on me. One other thing my cardiologist asked me.....Have i been sick in the last few days and if i had any energy drinks!!!
  6. I can speak from experience. Let me start by saying that I am a fairly fit person but don't over do it in anyway when I am out training. On 6 April 2013 at the KZN Downhill Event, I went into cardiac arrest about 30 minutes after my second times run. I could feel there was something not right but refused to believe that I had gone into cardiac arrest. It wasn't the norm where you experience the pain in your left arm and then clutch your arm and fall over and die, for me it was almost 2 hours of excruciating chest pains until I could get to a hospital. The things I went through and felt during those two hours I would not wish on my worst enemy. I am one of the very very lucky ones who survived it and came out with no perminant heart damage. The eventual cause was due to a blood clot caused by my red blood cell count being to high. I had no cholesterol, stress or high blood pressure issues. I never knew about my blood count problem and took a cardiac arrest for me to establish this. The more scary part for me was when I was in ICU they wheeled in a 22 year old girl who suffered the exact same as I did whilst out running. One thing I learnt from this is that you just don't know who could be next to go into cardiac arrest. It can happen to anyone, big or small, fat or thin, old or young...you just don't know. Almost all cardiac arrests are caused due to blood clots and they sneak up on you like a stalker!!! If you can, go get a CT scan to check for any blood clots in your system, it could save your life.
  7. Super_mill...will you be at the KZN Downhill event on 6 July? If you are i will bring it to show you.....but you can't race with it though
  8. Super_mill .... let me find out from Fox and i will come back to you. If the demand for the helmet is big enough, they will bring it in. Its such an awesome helmet. The main rival to the Fox Carbon Pro is the TLD D3 and dont get me wrong, the D3 is a flippen nice helmet, but i much prefer the Fox as it has such an awesome fit and looks really cool
  9. Expect big things from Fox SA in the MTB and BMX categories. They have a great bunch of guys there now that are really into MTB, BMX and Downhill. This is my second season with Fox assisting my Downhill and BMX teams with kit and they have been such a pleasure to work with. Such down to earth guys who always make you feel welcome when you visit them at their head office and who take the time out their family time to come watch my teams race BMX and Downhill. We do a lot of behind the scenes marketing for them, especially my two junior BMX riders who are constantly bombarded for Fox stickers and merchadise at the BMX events (all that is donated by Fox). I wanted to try the Demo kit and Fox Carbon Pro helmet out so asked Fox if they could bring it in for me along with all the race teams kit. I was really expecting a "no" but they did it for me which just shows how far they will go to keep customers happy. I also come into contact with their warehouse staff and every staff member is such a pleasure to work with, always willing to help. If ever you guys are down in KZN and want to see or feel the helmet and kit, give me a shout and i will only be to happy to show you.
  10. It all arrived yesterday...Thanks Fox SA
  11. Flip, Nige.......shows you just how long ago i rode on the top section.........there were no trees when i last rode up there!!
  12. Agree.......top shop with knowledgable, helpful staff.
  13. I have a D2 and a D3. I had the exact same problem as you .....between sizes. I opted for the XS/Small D2 as it was the recommended size. I found the D2 helmet a little to tight and when replacing the D2, i bought a size medium D3 which was perfect. My suggestion to you, get the size medium / large D2 and use the extra helmet pads if you need to make it smaller.
  14. I always used the Parcel Force Service when ordering from CRC, but for my last two orders they sent it with DHL and thats when i started having huge issues and delays.I paid for the quicker service and it actually took longer - 12 days!!! You have to give a physical address when having a delivery done by DHL (this was a problem for me as i instruct my domestic worker to never ever open the gate for anyone). Anyway, i didnt pay much attention to tracking the parcel as it was not urgent. However after 6 days and not receiving the parcel i then tracked the parcel online. I saw that the parcel had arrived in SA within two working days and was in "Clearance delay". I then called DHL to enquire about the parcel who then advised me that i had to settle the duties before the parcel would be delivered to me. I immediately asked them why i was not contacted on the day the parcel arrrived to settle the duty payment. My parcel was sitting in their warehouse for 7 days already - and just about to be put into "States Warehouse". DHL failed to communicate with me which i found totally un acceptable. To answer your question regarding " clearance delay" - you need to pay the duties!!! They have to generate an invoice and email it to you. You then have to make payment and provide proof of payment and only when your payment has cleared (futher delaying your delivery) into their bank account, is the parcel delivered to you. In todays technology this is a very backwards system and as a result have instructed CRC to never use DHL for any of my deliveries. One still has to be careful when selecting the "tracked" option for your delivery as there is a DHL drop bar selection that is also available. The "tracked" and DHL delivery option seem to be linked as even if you chose the "tracked" option, DHL still does the delivery. Now, i contact CRC before i complete my order and get written confirmation back from them that they will not use DHL.
  15. Rock - those bikes are awesome. That Prodigy must be plenty moolla with the X9 rear deraileur etc etc...
  16. I'm going to go with Mackie on this one!!!! Clint_ZA, i went through what you going to go through. By 3 years of age my youngster was on a JD Bug. At 4 years of age i got him a cheapy 16 " Raleigh BMX, biggest mistake but that was all i could find. He rode the 16" for 2 months and totally trashed it. I knew he was destined to be a BMX racer so bought him a second hand GT Micro Mini BMX (with skinny wheels) for R1600-00. It was the best purchase ever as the build quality on these bikes is top notch and everything works and difficult to break, plus it weighes absolutely nothing. From my personal experiance, rather get the more expensive Titan as it will make riding much easier, fun and safer. My son had a huge crash on his 16" Raleigh cheapy, due to bad componets. It was "piece of mind" knowing that if my son pulled the brakes on the more expensive bike, that they would work properly and perhaps prevent him from being involved in something nasty. My 2 cents worth!!!
  17. I have a brand new 2012 GT Fury AL1 Alloy frame available for sale.
  18. Yeah, he bought my 2012 bike and changed the components over onto a spare GT Fury Carbon frame i had. He is loving it, expecting him to do well next year. Nothing wrong with a 'Goose' and its the perfect bike for you to get to grips with Downhill riding. When you want to up grade let me know as i have a brand new spare GT Fury Alloy frame available.
  19. I am concentrating more on BMX for 2013, mainly due to my son doing so well. I'm on the 20' GT Speed Series Pro. GT brought in some 2013 models which were allocated to the Team. Its way easier to ride Downhill than BMX. Great that you on a full blown DH machine now. I sold my 2012 GT Fury and waiting for the 2013 models to arrive then i will be back in the DH mix again.
  20. Its going very well. Have set up a big team for 2013 with GT and Fox. Great sprint training for Downhill. I get more tired in a 40 second BMX heat than on a 5 minute Downhill run. Enjoying it tremendously and will definately help my Downhill fitness for 2013.
  21. Grebel, this might help!!! Does your missus have a sewing machine? Get her to sew a row of stitching through the middle of each cheek pad. It will compress the cheek pad and take the pressure off your cheeks.
  22. Love my GT Bicycles watch i got given by Omnico.
  23. MISA - go to Leigh's Cycle Centre in the Pavillion and have a look at the 2013 GT La Bomba. That is excatly what you need and you will be the only rider to own one in the country!!!! going for R9000-00.
