Hi guys. I need some guidance please. I want to buy a new set of disc brakes as my currents one, shimano m785, just don't do it for me anymore. I've narrowed it down to the following, what do u guys suggest Hope tech 3 E4 Shimano m8120 4 piston Shimano m8120 4 piston Formula cura 4 Im keen on the hopes, but have always ridden shimano. I've got 200mm front and 180 rear ice tech rotors and my weight is approx 100kg.

I have a similar issue, but with a hope pro 4 hub, as soon as I fit it to the frame the freebody tightens up, anybody had this issue on a hope hub?

I was in the same boat a few years ago. I went from a 29er xc bike to a 27.5 trail bike and love it. Having way more fun than I did on the XC bike. I ended up with a santacruz 5010, climbs very well and rips on the technical stuff. Also very capable at long marathon stages, perfect allrounder

Thanks for all the comments. My only reservation I have on the patrol is that I would have to purchase a new fork as my current fork can't be adjusted to 170mm. I'm also a little worried about the weight of the bike when built up. @inchusa I'm 1.86 meters tall.

Hi Guys, I need some advise please. I currently have a SC 5010 but I want something with a bit more travel. The options are 2018 transition patrol or a Santacruz Bronson What do you guys think would be a better option, the SC is more pricey than the patrol, but what will the ride difference be as I have never ridden a patrol or Bronson Your input is welsome

The new Bell super DH also looks quite nice, but think its only available at the end of the year. I read somewhere that the Leatt chinbar is DH certified but the helmet itself is not...

The international manufacturer is also to blame for this mess. They have all these different price structures for different distributors around the world which is wrong. The should be a standard price for the distributor and maybe a quantity price for distributors. How do they expect to do well in a certain market if they give the distributor a cr_p price and then that same distributor has to compete with there big European distributors who are getting way better prices. If they assign a sole distributor for a region then they need to look after him otherwise there brand suffers.

I wanted a new airshaft for my rockshox pike, cheapest I could get it in SA for was R1900. I bought one from europe and with paying 19 euros for couriers and VAT etc I landed it for R800. To be honest I don't think it's the local bike shops making all the money, it's the distributor, they taking us for a royal ride in this country

Thanks guys. It's a tough choice. I'll try organise a demo of each and make up my mind from there. The other dilemma is size, as I am 1.87m tall, and sit smack bang in between large and extra large on both the transition and santacruz, for the life of me I don't want to spend all that money and end up with the wrong size.

I'm looking at buying a short travel trail bike (130-140mm) I've got a short list of the following: Trek fuel ex8 Santa Cruz 5010 Transition Scout I want a fun trail bike that I can, if I want to, do the odd marathon race or even the odd enduro, but generally just have fun. I've currently got a 2014 Giant trance, but my arse is itching for something new with updated geometry. Any advise or experience with the above bikes will be appreciated. Thanks

South Africa don't recognise FCC as we fall under the EMEA region. To get something type approved with ICASA you would need the CE certificates which are the European standards and checks. If you submit a item to ICASA with FCC approval certificates you are going to wait a hell of a long time and more than likely you will have to submit extra paperwork.
