  1. Nope, not at all. Magical, will try that. ???? Thank you for the advice.
  2. Yes just the bearing thanks, flyweight here weighing in at 62 kilo's.
  3. Greetings, My front wheel bearings are rough, and need replacement - where to get? Struggling to find the correct ones. .
  4. Hope it's been postponed. Was a little cautious of going in this mornings drizzle, (rusty vehicle blah, blah) and now is raining down proper.
  5. Hi All, Just would like confirmation that this is a legit site, and that they are trustworthy for purchases. They are not listed on HelloPeter.co.za, though would like some positive confirmation before going ahead please. Have sent an e-mail query earlier today, but no response has been received as yet.
  6. Thank you, Vetplant. Have previously researched this topic in-depth, and have gained much information from various (international) websites. However, these articles were all several years old (& who knows if still applicable after all the latest Zwift s/w patches and updates etc are run), so hugely appreciate your response in giving current and true 'real-time' feedback here from a local South African CT user's perspective. Am a big CompuTrainer fan, and it is inspiring to see the original old-skool, bullet-proof, mid-80's indoor cycling originator of yore, working seamlessly together with today's modern leading-edge Zwift 3D multi-user technology - USB serial-port wires and all. >>
  7. Good Morning, Would there be any sort of negatives using a CT on the Zwift platform? (latest controller firmware is up to date, using CT puck as cadence) Been considering this for years, just haven't bit the bullet.
  8. I have the same problem if woken up super-early and just can't get back to sleep then. Something that does seem to work is reading, - reading a few pages seems to put your mind in a different more relaxed brain state and after 20 - 30 minutes doze back off quite happily.
  9. I remember when first coming to Cape Town in 2000 (Y2K). Being new in the area and still discovering the bike routes, there was no problem to cycle down Blaauwberg Road and turn left passing Killarney race track en route to Contermanskloof riding 100% solo. Fast forward 20 years and now not on your life (or my life, rather) would you ever find me there. My how things have changed in a relatively short space of time.
  10. Neil McPherson (Retul authorised) 57 Sea Cottage Drive Crofters Valley Noordhoek (021) 789-2903 Retul is considered the gold standard in bike fitment. If physio specific preferred: it's a bit of a trek out to Stellenbosch, though a PM with his contact details has been sent. (he looks after Conrad Stoltz and AJ Calitz)
  11. For those athlete's withdrawing from EL 70.3 for example, - does this further open-up entries down-the-line as the event is currently (obviously) sold out.
  12. Both are very decent bikes, the Merida however (Campagnolo) will cost a lot more to maintain longterm. Cannondale has a power-meter fitted and comes ready to ride, a 10-speed being perfectly adequate.
  13. I missed the ideal beginner's mountain bike this week-end for sale on the hub, at a very good price. (Giant Anthem 29) Was in good nick, and excellently maintained too. (ex-Geddan Ruddock)
  14. Perhaps also look at Willie Engelbrecht's custom made mountain bikes: “What I do, is I say to a client ‘Allow me to introduce you to the bike’. We go for a ride, and I look at the person’s needs. I then build the bike they need. I want them to feel special. The bike speaks for itself.” – Willie Engelbrecht https://adrenalinebikes.co.za/
  15. Should be fine from a crime hotspot perspective. I'd opt riding the coastal Clarence Drive route instead of riding the N2, find it far more scenic and you save a lot of elevation from rolling hills, - riding the coastal route is also exactly 20km shorter. Apart from the hectic holiday traffic at this time of year, Sir Lowry's Pass in particular is known to funnel wind from the Jonkershoek valley making it very gusty and quite dangerous at times. Years ago, that wind yanked my bike off car's roof-rack when travelling to Knysna - it was early morning and was just able to save the bike from being squished by a upcoming truck behind. The only downside of the Clarence Road coastal route is there is no broad road shoulder between Gordon's Bay to Rooiels, but once you hit Rooiels hill, there is plenty yellow line shoulder all the way through. Though Clarence Road should have lower traffic volume, watch out for the week-end motor-bike groups which can be over-ambitious and risk-taking through the bends, making things risky.
  16. I've used my Vigor's successfully on both a full Centaur and Record groupset, using a Shimano 9-speed chain. [emoji106]
  17. Here's an interesting article: (and factory tour) https://bikerumor.com/2018/01/31/factory-tour-paired-spokes-or-not-rolf-prima-is-still-going-strong/
  18. Thank you, just realised have a friend with an unused Vigor back wheel and will chat to him. (think the freebody could be problematic on his) Anyhow, here is a close-up of the original rim damage:
  19. Hi Chaps. This weekend my beloved Rolf rear rim cracked right on the spoke nipple. I realise this is a vintage wheelset with various differing spoke tensions with technical details shrouded in mystery, though it's levels of performance are truly astounding. (i weigh 63 kg's) Time is of the essence, and am going to take it to Cape Town's top specialist welder for a repair evaluation. Would there be any other Cape Town based specialist wheel builders to consult with for this repair, ito keeping the wheel true ect?
  20. Would there be any chance of Shimano's fantastic SPD 540 selling at a discounted rate for these last few days?
  21. Got these from my LBS a while back, they are comfy and effective. https://www.takealot.com/g-form-extreme-knee-pad-yellow-small/PLID34199462 https://g-form.com/shop-sport/bike
  22. Am seriously missing this bike, and is the only one of it's type in the Western Cape. Apparently it has been seen in Stellenbosch, and am thus putting up a reward for it's safe return. https://www.bikehub.co.za/stolenbikes/1001-orbea-occam-29-h10-2013/
  23. Is anyone here Zwifting using a CompuTrainer here? Keen to hear any user feedback.
