  1. Was a fat jol. Took a tumble over the bars on stage 2, but no biggy. Was a good vibe amongst the riders, and awesome to chill afterwards.
  2. How am I supposed to sleep tonight? !
  3. Yeah I'm no downhill demon, and really don't care about my own time, but I also don't want to hold up other guys who want to give it a blast I want to enjoy the sick trails, and have fun. Same goes for my buddy who is joining me. He did it last year, only 3 months after starting to cycle and thought it was crazy. I convinced him to do it again this year after gaining some more experience. If anything its a lil personal competition between ourselves Counting down the hours.
  4. Super keen for this It'll be a first for me, and I'm hoping to still have all my teeth in my mouth at the end of the day But I'm a bit worried about slowing down the faster guys. How do the organisers avoid this?
  5. Goody bag collected, bike was in the morning, ready to roll. Flu is ripping me to shreds, but I'm not missing out on this!
  6. i wonder if the same will count for the political rally planned for the sunday, that has messed up with so many peoples plans
  7. How do we determine our batches in the cyclocross, based on our race number?
  8. In on the 55km cyclocross Haven't cycled in weeks. Have flu, and having root canal done tomorrow morning. .
  9. From my extensive RTFM'ing i saw a bit where it was suggested the sensor and magnet be no more than 3mm apart... Hope this helps On my 1st ride using it at the lynford classic on sunday, mine worked perfectly
  10. I picked up a Giant XTC1 2weeks back, with 1st ride this past sunday, and I'm happy as a pig in poop! Not that this will help you much, just putting it out there
  11. divernick, on 05 September 2012 - 11:41 , said: RTFM Much easier to post moronic questions on the hub than RTFM. What amazes me is that we are capable of reading a computer screen with the solution but not the manual. I'm sorry that you gents found my post "moronic". Take a moment to considder that I did indeed RTFM that came with the device, and I'm not sure if either of you, or anyone else on the forum is using one, but those who do, might be able to confirm that the manual provided with the device is not of much use to those who are not familiar with the device, ie "first timers". Much to your surprize, I even went as far as downloading the online pdf user manual from Bryton, and after following the steps on that I still did not have joy in getting the machine to work. Nowhere in the literature does it state if it uses gps signal to track speed and distance, or via the sensor. I apologize for not knowing. Heaven forbit I ask on a open forum! In the meantime with the info from usefull replies, and those on other forums, with the downloaded manual I have been able to set it up and get it working ok for now. Will only really know after my next cycle. To those who posted helpful replies, thank you. It did indeed help.
  12. hi, i'm no good at this, and need help So i've set up the machine as described in the user manual i downloaded Now when i take it for a spin, it doesn't seem to do anything except show my cadence (thank goodness i got that bit right) What else should it be doing? I'm kinda expecting it to show speed, distance, and maybe the 'route' that was traveled? Or does it only indicate speed and distance via the sensor pick-up, and not via gps placement? If any other owners can please help this fool out. Cheers Ryno
  13. Can't help with the garmin bit, but i also did the ride, but the 45km! Was a stinker, but not too hard, good workout though. Hoping to figure out how to work my bryton 35 working, i have no idea how to get it going, then hopefully if you have the same issue at the next event i can see whats the deal with signal. Cheers Ryno
  14. Picked up a Giant XTC1 29er on friday. Wiff toobless conversion done. LOVING it, albeit only ridden on road. 1st off road ride will be on Sunday at the Umko Classic. But for now, WOW!
  15. I've purchased from them before with no issues. I just placed my order for one of these offers. Delivery time, as per fine print...up to 4 weeks. Its going to be a long 4 weeks
  16. I have also been spending the last few weeks looking at bikes in this price range and spec level. With the addition of the Giant XTC1. I like the look of the giant I like the rims and fork option on the momsen I'm partial to the gt's price, but the rims are heavy. Then there is the moral dilema... The gt and giant models are stocked by my prefered LBS, whom have provided excelent service to me thus far, and I would prefer to support them with the sale. On the other hand, there is also the "support local" bit with buying the momsen. Buying a bike shouldn't be based on morals, I mean hardly anyone has them anymore, but I'm thinking If I keep my LBS happy, they will keep me happy... I'm a recreational rider, so any of the bikes would do fine, but one still wants to look at the bike and say "yes, this was the bike I wanted"... Decisions, decisions... R
  17. Nice one! Might I suggest a strip of old carpet, or rubber, foam, something, glued to the wall to reduce scuffing on barsand seats...just a thought Cheers R
  18. Not to everyone's taste, but does it for me currently... Skrillex - Bangarang
  19. Forgot to add, the weight of the giant is less than that of the momsen 529. The momsen felt a lot heavier than my scott reflex 26er (old old old), but the giant surprised me weith what "feels" lighter The above is opinion, please don't shoot me if its not fact.
  20. I've just taken a look at the giant xtc 1 29er at my lbs, and man I want one. Price is very reasonable, but I just don't have the cash now. Bit later I'm gonna look at the scott, and give it some thought. Saving up sucks!
  21. Thank you all for a great ride Was great fun, nice easy route too. Thanks to Clint for the help on my multiple punctures, as well as the pit crew who waited with. Clint, I owe you a couple of puncture kits! Cheers mate. Apologies for the mad dash at the end, but I needed to cover the km's before my wheel went pap again. Again, great ride, look forward to the fullmoon ride. Cheers Ryno & Kelly
  22. Is this not an on-going range? Are the distributors not getting more stock from the factories?
  23. I'm also pondering these 2 bikes. The axis a10 weighs in at 11.2kgs (according to Tread mag) I tried to guage the weight of a momsen 529 over the weekend, and for some reason it felt heavier than my scot reflex at 13.5kg. I stand to be corrected though. Yes the wheels on momsen are better, but I'd rather have a lighter bike, that doesn't need changes, than a better spec'd heavy bike.
