  1. i guess it's a 32 spoke wheel?? I weigh 103 kgs and partly because of that I break a spoke or two some times. I've rided with four broken spokes at a time and it really isn't a problem, they were all on different places on the wheel. Two were broke waiting to be replaced and then another 2 broke on the same ride, I actually heard them snap. Got them sorted out now. If you have v brakes, the wheel will maybe drag a bit more than usual, if it's the case just slack up the rear v-brake, you rely more on the front in anyway. If you have discs then it's no problem...

Ok I understand what you meant with rebranded now. I think that the SLX group is much better and closer to the XT than the LX were....

CWC will probably not supply to other LBSs but it would've been cool, cause as far as know cool heat is the only shimano importer and like my LBS told me yesterday, they wish they could import but they're way to small!!! or just at least get another shimano supplier.

I'll see if I can get a group tom. before the prices goes up again... I love the styling of the SLX, really looks nice! I'm starting to think about replacing my r der while i'm at it, but then again I probably don't need to... Just need the crank!!

Second that!!! the rand has gone mo#r toe... and their prices are still very good!! I was at my LBS today to get some new prices... I was shocked!! The prices have gone sky high!! The stuff from CWC is still so cheap. I'm very dissapointed in myself that I didn't buy the SLX group two days ago but it still is very cheap!!
  8. I saw it on their website. Just sent them a mail. I'm happy with all teh parts on my bike, I just really need a new crank. Would be sattisfied with a LX aswell but I can't get hold of any... or the lbs can't get any from the distributors. Will pop in with them tom morning and hear what's going on. The SLX looks very nice to me, the styling is almost the same idea as the XTR crank, very nice!!!!
  9. Where did you buy the SLX group or specificly the crank and what did you pay?? I'm looking for one!!
  10. Or just stick in the screw driver before you remove the old pads that way even if you don't do it gently you wont break anything because you still have the pads in between...
  11. Cool bike. Although for me, just like the wheel, gears and shocks were discovered to stay... Had my first and last single speed rigid when I was 8 years old... I'll leave the joy and fun of a single speed rigid to the other people, how generous of me... hehe
  12. IanJ I'm also busy building cree lights. Getting the housings machined so not doing it myself, if you're interested I can machine a few extra. Don't have enough leds and drivers to give you all the parts so you'll have to order em yourself from cutter. Will let you know once I have a price on the machining of the housing. Will prob open m a thread with my first light and the new one with the nicer housing. I have my first one for about two months now and it's an absolute pleasure to ride with it. My topspeed with the light in jonkerhoek is about 64km/h so there's enough light!!!!!
  13. 2200 mAh is the capacity of the batt. 2200 mA for a hour. So if you pull 1000 mA the battery will last 2.2 hours...
  14. Bliksem! Sal maar moet vra dat hulle weer bestel en vir my 'n paar hou! Toemaar ml' date=' al wat jy moet doen is om hom te blackmail met daai email printout wat onder die light housings le! Interessante leesstof[/quote'] e-mail removed. Het nie besef dit le onder nie!!! is nie vir my of van my nie though...
  15. camp gear, heavy duty aluminium flashlight. There's no more information on the package, not even where it's made except that it can be focussed and stuff like that. Wonder if it's made in SA maybe? ML will order some for you if you want. I'm going past there tom morning. They arrive 4 pm from the packhouse, they close at 5:30 so you can pick them up after work. how many do you want?
  18. My newest housing for a few lights i'm going to build. looks very good!!! Just have to do a little machining to customize the housing to work. Pics are a little dark, couldn't get the detail with the flash on. night tider2008-09-22 14:23:19
  19. Couldn't agree more!!... I always say, when i've spent the amount of money that a wrench would cost me, on stuff that broke because it was tightened wrong then i'll go and buy a torque wrench!... For the last four years the amount of stuff that broke is standing on R0.00. So i'm far from buying a torque wrench...
  20. Love my headshok, weighs in at about 1.26 kgs... 80mm travel on bearings... and absolutely true steering!!!
  21. It could work but i'm still worried that the light will move. It willl also take some time to get the alu tude nice and round to fit the housing. I was amaized the other night, I went for a ride and coming down a steep hill I hit a bump quite hard and the light tilted. It wasn't completely tightened but it wasn't lose... I have thought of maybe making a mounting from alu, but it will be a little more difficult but not impossible. but it still needs some thinking... Will be much easier if I can just buy a cat eye mounting with the slider!!!
  22. can't view the lights section from cat eye on the site, will try again later. Johan here's a few pictures of the light. The housing is just a piece of aluminium tube. you'll see middle plate is thicker for the heat to get to the outside, it fits tight in the tube for the heat to get out better "hitte oordrag". the whole light is kept together by the screw that holds the light to the mounting, the one in the bottom picture. and the rest of the wires is just two toggle switches, a constant current driver and some control resistors for the dimming of the driver. The black toggle switch on the back is for dimming (high medium and low) and the other on for on and off. Very simple but works great at a good price. I got the mounting of my cat eye halogen light wich is 6 or 7 years old... night tider2008-08-24 09:03:17
  23. The thing i'm worried about is that the clamp will tilt without me wanting to. half of my ride consits out of single track so it really needs to be tight. I'll quickly post a photo of the bottom of the light then you'll understand it...
  24. the cost to build is about R600 to R800 for parts, housing and so on(haven't worked it out exactly. Got some batteries from USA for R150 for 12 AA(NiMH). The cree's gives very good light. I've done 64 km/h with it at night and on that same section I don't really go faster in daylight. If you like to build stuff yourself it's lots of fun building your own light!!!
  25. Well it's not that i ran out of space I just need a mounting to use on the lights i'm building, the mounting that i use now is a cateye one that works great, you can buy the bottom part but not the slider... But i'm looking for something simular...
