  1. Kloof. Aloof. Never won a rugby match.
  2. Ah. Collective wisdom?
  3. Tjopper
  4. So nothing new, then? The personal computer only appeared 10 years after I matriculated, and it's pretty much defined my career since then.
  5. Didn't they throw you out of the kitchen at McDonald's?
  6. It's a well-documented phenomenon. She'll stop if you don't keep pointing a gun at her.
  7. I'm afraid so - he was my friend. We lost a good one today.
  8. Sorry, I see you already have sent me a PM...
  9. John, thank you for your efforts on the scene but I'm horrified to report that Jeremy (the marshal) has died. I would be grateful if you could PM me so we can get in touch - I'd like to hear more about those events. Thank you. Mark
  10. Thank you Wasbeer. I hear his jaw was broken and suffered a lung injury, but hopefully he's on the mend. He's marshalled at that point before and mentioned that it's quite dangerous.
  11. A friend of mine who was marshalling on the Llandudno descent was seriously injured when a cyclist rode into him. My friend was taken by ambulance to Christiaan Barnard Memorial, and latest news is that he seems to be out of danger, but it looked pretty bad for a while. I gather the cyclist was also out cold - I hope he's okay. Please spare some thoughts for the marshalls who also lay it on the line.
  12. Yuppiechef are offering specials on a lot of espresso machines - just thought I'd mention it. . .
  13. Mmm, maybe. The Aeropress doesn't rely on an even grind, in the same way that a pressurised espresso machine does (the coffee grounds float in suspension in the hot water) so pretty much any grinding method will work. If you have or buy a simple blade-type grinder for a few bucks, at least you won't be wasting money. When you get a decent espresso machine down the line, you'll need a really good grinder then.
  14. Gladly, my cross-eyed bear. Oldie but a goldie. Singing hey ho, Galileo. More recent.
  15. Aeropress, IMHO. Much better than buying a crappy machine.
  16. FWIW, my Expobar Brewtus went about five years without attention (3/4 cups a day), then she needed a "brain transplant" (new IC). Oh, I did replace gaskets on the shower head. . . Since then she's been running two years without issue (touch wood). Getting to be a bit of an old lady, but she still delivers the juice! Same goes for my coffee machine.
  17. Let me guess - your wife is not a hubber?
  18. Cav - I can think of worse ways to spend my twilight years than visiting each of those spots. Unfortunately I'll need to pull off one of those bank heists to do it. Thank you for allowing me to dream.
  19. Home alone.
  20. Editor/grammar nazi.
