  1. Definitely the last time I will ever do this event. Not safe at at all, between irresponsible cyclist's, impatient motorists, potholes and raw sewage it wasn't exactly a ton of fun. Personally I believe the bunches were too big, considering it is a flat fast race, the bunches never thinned enough in order to ride safely on a route that was open to traffic. Last point, combining the long and short race for the last 20km was an absolute dog show, witnessed 3 proper crashes as a result of trying to pass slower short distance riders unaware of the speed differential of the long race bunches. Ok - rant over.
  2. I am keen to hear how criminal proceedings are going. He owes me a refund for 2 trips (R26 000) signed an acknowledgement of debt with a payment plan and then defaulted. I am planning on laying fraud charges too.
  3. If the Tour of SA is this week-end, and going through the heart of Sandton, why have'nt I seen any traffic advisory notices on any of the roads that the race will effect? Please tell me that the affected public are aware of the event and we won't have another PE debacle.
  4. I have a Kona Hei-Hei 29 that I don't use that might be for sale!
  5. Edman - does that picture come with step by step installation instructions?
  6. A new set from Chris Willemse is R2800.00 Assumsing I can get the spares, the agents are the only one's with skills to replace the levers.
  7. Yesterday at the Emperors Race I was taken out by a slower short race rider. Net result is that both of my shifter levers are badly scratched. My question is can only the lever part on a Campag Chorus Carbon 10sp be replaced, or do I have to buy the whole mechanism? YETI5752010-02-08 08:48:52
  8. The race organiser recently suffered a very tragic family loss. Under the circumstances I can fully understand why the race has been cancelled. Condolences to Jaco and the rest of the Induna family.
  9. Done them all not sure if this is no 12 or 13. Also done all the MTB events.
  10. The bottom line is that the race organisers failed to react to a potentially dangerous situation. The only water point ran out of water 2 hours into the event (I know I was there), which left plenty of time to react. We can be thankful that nobody was injured.
  11. I think that maybe the 24 hour race at NF set the bar so high that every race thereafter fails in comparison, or it could be that this race was badly organised. I just checked out the results, and I was in the top 30% of the field and dehydrated. I feel sorry for the guys who were riding north of 4 hours.
  12. I enjoyed the route, but I do feel a bit ripped off for what I paid and what I got. No water at a marathon distance event is unacceptable. It wasnt as if it was a logistical nightmare to get water onto the route. There wasn't even a water table at the start finish area after the first lap. I also raised my concerns about the water to the officials at the end, but was fobbed off and told that it was my responsibility to carry my own water. Next year I will spend my money at another event as this definitely wasn't good value for money. Just a question - did anyone see any medics on the route? YETI5752009-09-27 11:00:08
