  6. the Winter Series winds up with the Polkdraai Crit followed by the good old Gunners Grand Prix. then we have a stand alone event (its own prize money) in the Cyclelab Paarl Monument Challenge on the 23 June over 100 kilometres. i have asked for an inter club event to be raced over 70 kilometres.

  10. i will recommend Rapid Sports in Pepper Str, CTown CBD. phillip does a fair amount of skiing(snow) so he has a fair selection of undervests, gloves, beanies and cold / wet weather gear at value for money prices.
  11. Mtb'ers .......can't take them anywhere

  15. if the weather was like today, we would be able to handle it as the various events are short ie 20 min plus a lap. when it rained today it was normally over in 5 to 10 min and the road dried quckly. also the circuit would be secured with no traffic. the road surface is not dangerous when wet as there are no white lines all over the show. BUT with gales etc and rain predicted for three days from Saturday we would be taking a chance. the weather office has also issued a weather warning. will consult with the host club.
  16. Sunday 2 June - Burgundy Criterium Host club : City CC Venue : Burgundy Estate, Tygervalley Road (opposite Richwood) Registration: from 7.00am Time : 8.00am Schedule of events 8.00am - u10/u12 (R30) 8.30am – u14 (R50) 9.00am – u16 (R50) 9.30am - Open category for all riders not taking part in Cat 1,2,3 (R50) 10.15am Cat 3 inter club (R80) 11am Cat 1 & 2 (R80)
  17. i train at 5 in the am and our group is lit up like a small city. some guys just don't get it.
  18. i hear you & it breaks my heart not to have the ride BUT to get the ambulance & officials out to the event will incur costs which ± 70 participants will cover. i have checked 4 weather sites and they all predict rain from Saturday night thru to Tuesday. i can't see more than a handfull of mountain goats pitching up in the rain (if it does) to climb Red Hill. i also thought of the poor souls who would have to marshal in wet conditions without any cover. so ja, it happens
  19. since the original thread has been lost - here we go again. Sunday Hill Climb 26 May this event has been called off due to the prediction of heavy rain in the Cape Point area.
  20. still going strong in the cold months
  21. yawn
  22. i think the editor was just trying to fill the empty spaces in his newspaper. what a waste of ink/words/paper
  23. i didn't take the photo but it was sent to me by a friend of a friend of a friend....i think this type of thing (photos of cycling transgressions) will become more prevalent. i was cycling with my club yesterday. we were a large group on our way back from Hout Bay and we were riding past the flea market p eiland. we were in single file other than 1 youngster on a mtb, i didn't notice it but some of the riders said that one of the passing cars had the passenger on his cellphone camera. maybe he was capturing evidence of us riding on the road instead of the cycling lane AND we had 1 rider riding like an idiot.
  24. it definitely won't work when we cycle like these tjops. (tygervalley road durbanville)
  25. motorists must be charged with murder not culpable homicide if they kill a pedestrian/cyclist. get the focus on this or make it law and the 1.5m gap will follow naturally. the 1.5m campaign is like pissing against the wind. costs to print the 1.5m stickers is negliable, the buyer of the 1.5m cycling jersey pays the costs of producing it. the campaign is meaningless to those motorists that won't even follow logic/reason when overtaking in the face of oncoming traffic and putting their own lives at risk
