    Rugby...

he says to Jannie Doep , "if u can't scrum then i will have someone else come on to do it in your place" (something to that effect) , in front of all the fwd's. Jannie must have felt 'small'. the perfect retort would have been ' i can't scrum and you can't ref'.

    Rugby...

how can a professional sportsman be spoken to like a child. i get the impression that either the players or the ref don't want to understand the rules. every try scored is refered to the video ref. stupid technical issues are blown up but blatant fwd passes are missed. i watch the game with the tv remote and just push ALT whenever a penalty /scrum / lineout is taking place. no wonder the players don't loose weight playing they stand around doing FA for half the match.
  4. Just a little macro pic
  5. 1st time out at Langebaan for a while, most enjoyable ride. its always nice to support the rural events.

  8. We meet at the BP Service Station, Letchworth Drive, Edgemead every Tuesday & Thursday morning and we leave at 5.00am sharp as there are some riders who need to be back by 6.30am. distance is about 45 kms and we always make it back by about 6.25
  9. weather looks good for saturday.
  10. Leon Jonker - used to be a ins broker for a large bank in robertson. won the 25 miler at Paarl Boxing Day back in the day. dunno if he still rides.
  11. you'll need a 27. lots of ice for the knees afterwards.
  12. we had a superb training ride today..i aborted the fast group when we hit 47 kph going down Bos'dam rd and linked up with the more mature riders. we rode thru and off and for the first time since we have been riding this route got mangled in with 3 taxis who were racing for passengers from Rugby to end of Koeberg road. it meant that we had to take evasive action every now and then, it wasn't so bad as they all indicated well in advance as well as hooted when they were cutting in. we managed to beat them to the P Eiland turn. Myself & uncle George paced the group to Big Bay and then back to the Mead at a nice 35 kph. a good workout.
  13. noted. the reason why i asked, i was riding down blowberg rd a few years ago at about 11am. it was a superb sunny sunday and the traffic was backed up to boy de goede. i was passing on the left side of the backed up traffic. half way down a truck decided to take a short cut thru the suburb and cut me off. i landed up in the gutter minus a few front teeth. a policevan was a few cars back and witnessed the incident. truck driver and wife were distraught blah blah blah. cut a long stort short, cop says to me 'you were in the wrong' u should of been riding between the lanes and not between the gutter and backed up traffic. so if i ever encounter backed up traffic that is where i ride. if i commuted into town , i would use the cycle lane, the section past lower church street, w'stock and the onramp from that road would give me the heeby jeebies. but then again i know of several peole that have been commuting for years by bicycles into town from m'ton,TView B'ville (the ppa even tried to get a commutor group going about 10 years ago) without incident.
  14. so what did he do to get under the skin of several 100 motorists?

    Rugby...

3rd best team vs the 7th best rugby team in the world standing as they dish up garbage like this. international rugby is dying a qucik death. there a so few countries with test status that all teams know each others moves (other than AB's). IRB are a disgrace.
  17. i expected the wind to pump so we opted for the Parow N circuit. there is a section of false flat which is a bugger. nice group of riders this a.m.
  18. this event has grown too big to handle. orgs are grabbing at straws,
  19. how many local pro mtb'ers in south africa. 4 competed at the world marathon champs. KE was the 2nd RSA finisher 29 minutes down on the winner, DG DNF. that sums it up.
  20. are riders tested for PEDS at Cape Epic. are only licensed riders tested or are all participants open to being tested.
  21. 2 hrs for a service (if the mackie knows what he is doing) , stripped down, cleaned and reassembled. if new parts have to fitted then it would take longer if they don't have stock.
  22. and DG and KE where did they finish? DG got a DNF and Kevin Evans was 29 mins down on the winner
  23. by world mtb'ing standards (not by cape epic) where did they fit in. they only seemed to be racing in rsa on farm roads and contour paths. other than burry did any of the 'stars of the cape epic' compete in the Olympics.
  24. back in the day it was coke and water mixed. energade & game hadn't been invented yet.
  25. we had a fabulous ride this morning. a little windy but it kept us honest. we split into 2 groups, 1 for those recovering from DC training and 1 for the speed freaks. we all regrouped at blowberg hill and we had returned to Edge by 6.30. 2 new young ladies joined for the 1st time. welcome. those traffic lights at dolphin beach take ages to change.
