Will be doing for the fiirst time this year, any feedback on previous years?

Thanks for all the advice so far,please keep it coming! I quit smoking after 25yrs of puffing like a dragon at the same time I started cycling, my legs are keeping up but i get out of breath very quickly - what is the best way to build up lung capacity?

Felt pretty good, cycled Groenies on Sunday- did not struggle, but was a bitt stiff today! Next race is 01 Sept, trailseeker #3.

I only started cycling about eight weeks ago and rode my first race this weekend, the trailseeker 2 20km fun run. I had an wesome ride and finished in 1h26min and some change. My average speed was 13.8km, I did not stop once and had to push my bike twice, once because the hill was to steep for me and the other time due to slower riders in front of me. The question I have is, for the next race do I do the 20km again, or do I attempt the 40km? My training consists of three 20km road rides during the week and on the weekend I cycle from my house to Groenies, do a 14km loop and cycle back home - 32km. I have done a 40km road ride, but do realise that this is a different story to a 40km mtb race. Of course there is more than a month to train before #3, would you guys think I could be ready for the 40km? I have entered the 94.7 mtb race and would like to be ready for that! Thanks Martin

Can't wait! My first race! If anyone from Centurion needs a lift, I can accomodate three bikes and their riders, will be leaving at around 07h00 and doing the 20km, will stay for a beer afterwards but would like to be home by 15h00 or earlier. Based less than 1km from Epic cycles.

Any one from Centurion taking part in the above?

Usually what I do is I cyccle from home - 8.6km and then do Groenkloof and cycle back home.30-32km, nice Saturday morning!

Thanks - looks like I will ahve to ride it a couple of times, experimenting with different routes! looks like it is worth getting a season ticket as one will not get bored to quickly!

Het Groenkloof gery Sondag - Awesome!!! Nuwe prys is R 28 en nie meer R 25, steeds die moeite werd. Die nuwe prys vir n jaar kaartjie is R 660 - nie meer R 600 - dit beteken as jy 23 keer vir die jaar gaan ry, is jou jaar kaartjie betaal. Ek het Sondag op gelet daar is verskeie singletracks, ek het vir die keer elke keer die linker opsie geneem, ken iemand die park goed genoeg om bietjie meer inligting te verskaf oor die verskillende opsies? Ek het so 14km gery op die ou end, het een of twee single traks geskip - was bietjie moeg, het ek baie gemis? I rode Groenkloof on Sunday and noticed there were two singletrack options at various stages - i decided to keep to the left option for the entire route, but would like to get some more info on the alternative. Anyone out there know the route well enough to comment? Also I ended up doing 14km,as I skipped on or two of the single tracks as I was quite tired!did I miss a lot

Hi, Dankie vir die raad, dink Groenkloof is beslis die beste opsie - gaan more oggend daar ry.Sal sommer uitvind van die jaar kaartjie.

maybe get a nice group of riders together to go ride the track, get input from different guys that have actually seen/ridden the track, difficult on only a description?

Thanks for the replies, live in the area and am looking for a trail to ride during the week.I joined the epic club and will join from next Saturday.

Does anybody know if it is safe to ride this route?
