  5. Come on Bud...lets do this one.
  6. Oh yes definately! The last 10km stretch will be interesting (slight uphill drag). Hope the legs hold...
  7. Riders will encounter the Pniel side of Helshoogte within the first 4km. Length of climb approx 2.5km.

  9. Yes he is part of the Organizing committe. And I also doubt that these events will continue....
  10. Besides the marshalls thingy. This is exactly why the City upfront refuses to make use of OKW twice in a Funride. Motorist attitudes towards cyclist in the southern suburbs is absolutely pathetic. I wont be a bit suprised if these events is removed from the 2015 calender.
  11. ...
  12. Any of you receive this email....I was 10yrs old at the time (1978) "Do you remember when you rode The Argus, as it was known then, on a Saturday; finished at the Camps Bay Sports Club on Beach Road; posted your entry form and copies of your previous certificates if you wanted to start earlier, and, if you did wear a ‘helmet’, it looked a lot like a bunch of bananas? Well, if you do, we would love you to share those memories with us. The Cape Argus Pick n Pay Cycle Tour will be 37 years old this year which means we will celebrate our 40th birthday in 2017. In the build-up to this, we intend featuring photographs, memorabilia and items of interest pertaining to the four decades of the Tour. And this is where you come in. If you participated during the years 1978-1987 and we hope you will be able to provide us with interesting anecdotes, photographs and memorabilia, if you have any. We would also appreciate it if you could ask any friends and colleagues who you know rode the Tour in those early years but have stopped cycling and are not likely to be on our database to assist". heritage@cycletour.co.za

  14. Sorry Luke, my Bad. It was indeed 2:18.
  15. Thanks for your reply Cronje. I'm also quite happy to pay the 160 as the event is on my doorstep. It surely beats waking up extra early and driving thru to either Paarl, Wellington or Stellenbosch. For Rollercoaster I have NO PETROL COST (LOL). As for the route descriptions, I assumed your event does not include the climb at the lighthouse in Kommetjie based on this description : "Both routes head out along Spaanschemat River Road and over the eastern side of Ou Kaapse Weg to Sun Valley. The 85 km turns right towards Kommetjie and continues along the coastal road via Scarborough towards Cape Point, heading back via Simon’s Town, Fish Hoek, Kalk Bay and Boyes Drive to finish in Ladies Mile Extension with a neutral zone back to the venue". Now see the route description for Bay City : "The long route turns right towards Kommetjie and participants will pedal through Kommetjie and up the Slangkop climb to follow the road around to Cape Point, coming back via Simon’s Town, Fish Hoek and Kalk Bay. At Kalk Bay, turn left onto Boyes Drive. Turn left onto Westlake Drive and continue to Steenberg road, passing Ou Kaapse Weg and returning via Spaanschemat road to finish in the Ladies Mile extension. There is a neutral zone back to the venue". Bay City clearly states : "pedal through Kommetjie and up the Slangkop climb"
  16. No.57....HaaaHaaaaa

  18. Correct. Left @ Oceanview. Bay City has that nasty climb. The 2012 original Rollercoaster route included OKW x2....that year the winning time was 3:10.
  19. My front wheel looses pressure over a 2 day period because it leaks air where the extention fits into the valve core. I just top up before I go out on a ride.
  20. Long route Profile. The final Funride before Cycle Tour is BAY CITY. The same route will be used except Bay City will incl the real Slangkop Climb at the Lighthouse. I wonder why the cost of Rollercoater (R160) is quite a few dollars more than the others. #justsaying
  21. Geez...sounds like a cyclist nightmare (lol)
