Ah, so it's not just me! I was in H and had exactly the same experience - you chase down a group and then it splits and you sit behind a single person, or you completely alone and have to choose between chasing again or waiting for next group, which also splits... etc etc At least we all have the wind to blame!

If one persons occupies four different positions that may be overlapping, I also see a problem. It doesn't necessarily mean that the person is biased - the risk that he might be is the problem. On the other hand, if he excuses himself from the panel for his clients (as V12man suggested), that may solve the problem.

The problem is not the lawyers - lawyers by definition just do what their clients want them to. The problem is the human ability to lie - which is not limited to any profession - and the burden the rest of us have to decide who is lying and who isn't. This is what makes the whole justice system (which seems to be taking some flak in this thread) necessary in the first place, and is also why it does not always deliver the desired results.

If you catch someone in the process of committing a crime and you take action against him to prevent the rime, that is fully within your rights - it's self-defence. If you catch him afterwards and do something to him, you are committing a crime yourself. Difference that seems to elude many.

It started raining about 1/3 into the race and never stopped. The singletrack was so muddy it felt like it tried to suck me in. It was great fun in the end though!
