I've got a feeling there is gonna be same pain involved anyway, so let's see what happens. Is it a good idea to start in your early group to avoid some pile ups along the way? Or can I slip back a start group or two to ride with people who is aiming for the same (read slower) time that I have in mind? One last silly question: How open are they to guys filling up their water bottels at the water points?

What time frame are you guys aiming to finish in? And what would you say is the average time of okes finishing?

Ja of course, but I'll only be going through on the Saturday if I don't have to go the long way around. Sounds like the short route/pass will still be open on Saturday, so then its cool. Check how your things work out, and if need be, send me your details, cell no, etc, and I'll hook you up

Does anybody know whether the roads will be closed on Saturday already? If not, then the distance to go register really isn't all that bad. I'll be in Knysna for the weekend, and if can go via the short route to Uniondale (54km), I'll go pick it up on Saturday. I'll be happy to collect one or two guys' stuff as well, and I can give it to you on Sunday. No sweat. I'm not too sure how busy they will be on Sunday morning

This is my first K2C, and the only seeding event I participated in was the Burger, and I'm #88. Hmmm... ja, well. I'll be catching up with the guys in the other groups coming along

Remember, the hardest part of your "cycling life" is now, and from here on in it only gets better and more fun. Remember to listen to your body: if you really, really don't feel like riding, its not always laziness. Don't overdo it from the start, and remember that a short, 5km ride, is better than no ride at all. Welcome, and happy cycling

So far I know its only the category in which you entered, meaning at what time/how early you entered. That's probably just for their own admin use or something. They will sent out an email with our actual seedings sometime soon, maybe today already. Hope I helped?

Thats actually a good point... So the route from Knysna is back to George, and then to Uniondale via the R62? No shortcuts on the R339?

Doing my first one as well this year, and from what I could gather from experienced K2C riders (colleagues, friends, etc) is that the route is a bit more difficult than what the profile tends to give away. Apparently the climbs are not steep, but very long. And from what eddy said, it seems like that's the most important thing eddy obviously has had a couple of encounters along the way there :clap:

Contact Kandui, os just check out the TBM forum here https://www.bikehub.co.za/f/60-table-mountain-bikers/ The guys ride once or twice every week, mainly depending on the weather. And from what I can gather, they go as slow as the slowest oke, and haven't got a problem with that at all. So maybe post on one of their forums, and hook up for a ride. They obviously know all the routes like the back of their hand, so that's probably the best place to learn. Happy riding, and welcome
