  1. Road - race time 03:59:33 Mtb 55km - Race time 04:53:03 (50 minute delay standing in queue for single track) Training from 01-Aug up to race day: 23 hours worth of spinning sessions and 10km on the mtb...lol Next year I will make an effort to train properly.
  2. I finally got my bike back. :w00t: It's not in the greatest cosmetic condition, but I can now spend time and get it 100%. Will be riding it for the first time in many years tomorrow at the 94.7. Actually the last time I road it was at the '99 94.7 race. Will have do a better job next time on the photo's. http://i1364.photobucket.com/albums/r735/Chowlsie/tvt_zps0cf2a322.jpg
  3. I gave up cycling roughly 13 years ago, and then rekindled the fire earlier this year. I spent many hours/day's perusing silently through this forum. Looking at all the b1itching, moaning, and the stories of bike-jackings and concerns around safety started to put me off and I wondered if it was even worth pursuing again. I did my first mtb race last Sunday on a borrowed bike, had lots of fun, fell off, carried on riding, finished and met new people. Overall had a good time and experience. Read this post, read the comments and it left me asking this one question....Where can I get more of the MTB Kool-Aid? We all have choices and options in the things we do. We all perceive things differently, and we are all ultimately responsible for the way we react to each and every situation. I may be labelled an idiot, or a noob or whatever other names/stigma's are floating around, I just cant wait to get back on the bike this weekend and have fun.

That is an awesome opportunity! Maybe your leader see's the potential in you. Step 1 would be to properly assess your goals and have a good mental visual of the outcome. Commit them to paper and review daily/weekly. Read 4-hour work week to get some ideas to be more productive in less time. Then share these newly revised goals with your boss...he will hold you silently accountable, and you will know that. Then as the rest have said, get fitted etc and get going! Share the training metrics with your boss on a weekly/monthly basis. You will still be providing reports, just of a different kind... Anyway, embrace this opportunity and all the best with your journey to accomplishing your goals.

  6. I did the race in '97,'98 & 99...gave up cycling after that. This year will be my first since then, quite excited.
  7. dont know if I should laugh or feel sorry for the dude
  8. There are some interesting responses, thanks all for the input. Will let you know how it goes.
  9. I stopped training in 2001 and back then I didnt worry about this sort of thing, I just rode... Now that I am older, I have to keep reminding myself that Im not young with boundless energy anymore. last night did a session and 42 minutes in zone 3 averaging 176bom and I felt I could have definitely given more...was just scared to push harder
  10. Haha yeah i like that...nothing like practical tests.
  11. Hi, According to the calculation based on my age my max hr is 188. However, I noticed on a few occasions during intense training that my hr spikes to roughly 10% over my mhr. At first I thought this was a one off glitch on the hrm, but it happened again. I then changed to a different hrm and same occured. Is this normal? Is the 220-Age calculation just a guideline? Is this dangerous and should I be concerned? Hoping the mad scientists on this forum can advise...
  12. I also have one of these hanging in the garage. '92 C600 Crit geometry. http://i1364.photobucket.com/albums/r735/Chowlsie/92C600_zps7d282abf.png
  13. Yeah they are awesome...I used to have the matching TT bike as well. But my dad sold it when I was still in school. I really cant wait to get mine back on the road
  14. I love reading this thread. I came across some documents whilst doing some research on my bike. It's not too old, but really like the style of writing. You can almost imagine seeing the person drafting this document, pouring out his passion in trying to explain how their frames are made. Once my bike is put back together I will post pics...it is carbon though, but i'm sure you don't mind. http://i1364.photobucket.com/albums/r735/Chowlsie/BespokeBicycleCo1_zpsecd05e5a.jpg http://i1364.photobucket.com/albums/r735/Chowlsie/BespokeBicycleCo8_zpse30a2cfa.jpg http://i1364.photobucket.com/albums/r735/Chowlsie/BespokeBicycleCo3_zps6870d391.jpghttp://i1364.photobucket.com/albums/r735/Chowlsie/BespokeBicycleCo7_zpsa112e46a.jpg http://i1364.photobucket.com/albums/r735/Chowlsie/BespokeBicycleCo2_zps44e79724.jpg
  15. Thanks for the replies. the bike has the dura ace 7400 groupset on it. I wasnt sure if I had to upgrade most of the components to accommodate 9spd shifters or not.
