  1. Ola Visit http://www.femmesportif.co.za/ for sport clothinbg- they're WC based, but ship nationally. Found them at last year's Argus Expo. I can also recommend the Falke bra- keeps everything in place and they're well priced!
  2. The crowd from Shape Magazine do wellness workshops and give out goodies bags- no-one leaves without them coz they're so AWESOME! Clinique products, Adidas socks, Nike water bottles, 500g TUBS of body butter (not the dinky size ones) energy drinks, perfume and other really cool stuff. They also often have full size trials of new items of the market- we got packs of a new brown rice once and 1l of a new ice tea. I think whatever items get put in, make sure they're a decent size and useful. Oh, and chocs are always welcome
  3. Rider 1- Pickled Rider2-non-hubber Team number- 565 Team Name- thinkpeople.co.za Prologue start time- 11:54 Go boys!
  4. I forgot to tell our last one not to iron the cycling kit.................... enough said
  5. Gorgeous! We're LONG OVERDUE for a visit to the sea- tomorrow morning when you're out take a deep breath and spare a thought for all the coastal folk trapped on the hamster wheel known as Gauteng
  6. I hear you! It's the same up here- I'm often gobsmacked by the number of people stopped at the end of a blocked off road- UNDER A SIGN ANNOUNCING THE ROAD CLOSURE!!- with a "hey, what's going on here?" expression on their face! Have you taken this up with the relevant groups/people yet? What response are you getting?
  7. Hey Cyclist Mom & Birdie- wishing the dude a speedy recovery! You must have been terribly stressed by the situation. I agree with the other posts, please don't let this end here, take it further. I recognise that the fire fighters have been doing a great job with the fires in the Cape, but road closure is road closure- regardless of who you are -to prevent this type of thing from happening. I've seen cars on the 94.7 route up here in Joburg every year that I've watched and I get so mad that there are people out there who think they're above having obey rules and get stroppy with officials who approach them. Simply not on!
  8. Should be interesting to see how this one develops.....
  9. Is this the same friend as in this post? https://www.bikehub.co.za/forum_posts.asp?TID=44630&KW=Epic
  10. Thanks Cranky! Interesting reading
  11. Hi Hubbers Please help the noob! After being on the bike for a long time I get pins and needles in my fingers. I've tried different gloves but the problem persists- and often they're still sore for a couple of hours after. Are they gonna fall off?!?! How do stop this from happening?
  12. I love the Zebra vibe you've got going, looks very Afro-Chic
  13. According to Himself (husband) 5 years is a good lifespan-provided you take good care of it. But as the others have said, if you throw it around, leave it in the sun and generally abuse it, you shorten the lifespan significantly. One of our mates has had his skid lid (helmet) for 4 years and there are hectic cracks in the foam- never been crashed, just treated badly. Remember that each case is unique,so this is just a guideline ....
  14. Nice!
  15. Don't do anything you can't do on a bicycle
  16. I like the way you think- Who can be spotted in the most coffee shops in their kit over the holidays- let the games begin!!!!
  17. I dont mind seeing the dudes in helmets- it tells me they made the effort n dragged their butts out of bed and are out doing something healthy and that they enjoy (not sitting round getting fat n lazy)what bugs me is when some cyclists decided to parade round in their kit for the rest of the day- doing errands, visiting friends etc smelling like armpit! Not cool. Go for a latte during your ride, keep your helmet, but afterwards PLEASE wash n change before going out in public again.
  18. Taken earlier this year
  19. Why run when u can cycle?
  20. I've driven past them before, but normally I feel intimidated to go into a bike shop and ask questions that may reveal how little I actually know
