  4. Hi All Have recently had a few set backs to my mountain bike riding A broken foot and a whole load of other injury's stopped me Riding Was About to get back on the Saddle when I had my Garage Broken Into And My Bikes stolen I couldn't afford to replace my Momsen 29" Hardtail so did a bit of shopping for a 2nd hand bike and have found and bought a 2012 BMC speedfox sf2 26" D/S Now some might wonder why I bought a 26" I found my old 26" bike alot more fun on the downhill single track sections than my 29" and I got the Bike for a good Price Now to the Main question I want to have a set of road and mtb tires but I don't want to keep changing the tires on the rims I want to just change the whole wheel so I can have them both Tubeless Whats the Best rim/ tire combo ? want to spend around R2500 what will I need to just be able to swap them over in 2 mins flat ? can I buy the sproket ? etc if so where do I go Based In Durban But I do like to shop Online planning on doing the Amashova Thanks
  5. I Put a Momsen Carbon Handle bar on my bike seems to be great, done a few hard rides with it and it seems perfectly strong enough. then again (touch wood) I try not to fall off my bike
  6. Did the Lynford Clover Classic This weekend and it was faultless, maybe the satellite was having a bad day ?
  7. That's exactly what I meant , so it wasn't a once off it cut out 3 or 4 times on the ride
  8. No the first time I noticed it was in the open , the race didn't have a lot of covered area , when I connected it to Garmin connect the GPS dropped out 3 or 4 times
  9. Based in Durban
  10. Thanks , the nutritionist recommended the usn recover max also so might try it first. And go from there if that doesn't work , good to know there are plenty of options
  11. Where can I get a 2012 momsen race jersey ? I've emailed the momsen website to ask but no reply Thought someone might be able to point me in right direction
  12. Has anyone used the recovery shakes after a race or a heavy gym session ? I saw a nutritionist today and she reccommended these rather than whey protein shakes ? Wondered does anyone have any experience ?
  13. Thanks for the help everyone the nutrition especially will take your advise on board , there's never gonna be a time I'm ready will just have to pace myself and build my times slowly.
  14. Yeah I'm doing the Lynford clover classic 40km race on Sunday so will see if I have a problem or not
  15. hmmm maybe gonna have to rethink the bike storage ... i've got very limited space that's why it's like that didn't want to have to take front wheel off everytime I hang the bike
  16. does it count if its an air shock ? it's been hanging for a few weeks and doesn't seem to have done any damage shock still compresses and recoils fine and if these rims bend out of shape the shop where i bought the bike from has something to answer to, the crest rims are meant to be tough
  17. oh why what's gonna happen to the shock ? what if i lock the shock ?
  18. Too Late to stick to the 25km races for a while I've just changed this weekends race the Lynford clover classic to the 40km race. Got energy left when i finish the 25km races, I've been racing with water in my camelbac and powerade in my bottle the only thing i'm not doing is eating anything, I guess a Protein Shake is worthwhile before the race.
  19. I just bought a 29er hard tail Momsen and kinda thinking i should have bought a DS bike my ass is sore after every race I know my body will get used it it but getting back on the saddle the next day with a bruised ass isn't fun, would i change to a DS? nah love my new HT even with the bruises maybe when the 27" start to drop down in price I'll buy a second bike with DS and see what I ride the most
  20. Thats what i thought so have booked my self in to do a few 40km+ events Starting on the 13/10 with Van Reenen "Over the Edge & Back" MTB Challenge When you say nutrition do you mean halfway thru have a power bar or banana something with carbs to keep the energy up
  21. Been to 4 25km races in the last month and have enjoyed them hugely each time getting a bit faster, had a great race at the sthil umko classic yeserday coming in at 1h 22 mins for the 25km When do you think you'll be ready for the bigger races.. Is it a matter of just jumping in and doing it, how much harder do you need to train ? are you ever ready for the bigger ones ?
  22. I used 2 hooks, I took an old innertube and wrapped it around the hook to act as a cushion and protect the rims
  23. I was at the sthil umko classic today and 7km in I noticed that my garmin 800 had stopped counting my speed and distance I turned it off and on again it started working again then 2 km further in it stopped again , the cadence and heart rate was fine just the GPS when I turned in back on the signal was full ,has anyone else had this problem, did anyone record the race on a Garmin GPS would love to see the assent and descent, I only did 25km. Bit pissed off it didn't record trying to keep an eye on my progress .
  24. Did anyone compete at the notties challenge yesterday , was a little dissapointed the 25km race turned out to be only 18km Was pacing myself saving some energy for the last 7km and it ended very dissapointing , I know the race organisers put a lot into the races and I thank everyone for doing so but 7km short isn't good . and the t-shirts never arrived waited until 12 and nothing . Overall I'm a little dissapointed and wanted to vent some frustration
  25. Thanks for the advice Have to admit it is brilliant looking at the results on Garmin connect I did the tour de krantz which was meant to be 25 km, my Garmin said I'd only done 23.3km dunno if Garmin is accurate of if course is accurate ?
