  1. He was found in the plantations at about 1am, his wife says he is ok and recovering at the medi clinic. Glad he is ok, he is a really nice guy!
  2. My new baby, Just in time for Hill2Hill
  3. That is just Ridiculous!!!
  4. Depends on the bike you putting it on, but a few things you need to check are... For the Forks 1) steerer type (straight or tapered) 2)Thru axle or Quick release 3) travel (how much you want vs how much is recommended for your frame) 4) If you buying second hand double check what length the steerer has been cut to to make sure it will work for you. For the rear shock 1) eye to eye length 2) stroke/travel length Some of the more clued up guys here may have some more in put but thats all I can think of for now. as for the lockout each shock/fork is specific to their own, best to google the one you are looking at.
  5. And on a final note (doubtful)... If you are in front of me on the single track and wont get out my way.... be prepared on the next corner for a brake check! STRAVA FOR LIFE!
  6. There is a common problem I find with any form of text communication be it email/chat forums/IM's etc. you cannot pick up on the tone the poster is typing in whether it be in jest, sarcasm, utter seriousness or out right obnoxious, causing these threads to escalate rather quickly. which in turn actually makes them quite fun...
  7. Eish sorry man that sucks! Hope he heals up sharp
  8. I must say, I am enjoying this playful witty banter on a TUESDAY afternoon, sure as hell beats working!
  9. Its all starting to make sense... this is why you don't like the guys who are fast on the technical stuff
  10. Sheesh and its not even Friday
  11. Then why am I trying to pass them if they are better?
  12. Like I said, you are racing against your own time, If it is a long section of single track and you are gonna hold someone up throughout, its not really fair when it would just take half a second off your time to let the faster rider passed thereby letting him have a good run at it and you not being pressured continually...
  13. I've been racing motocross and Enduros (Motorbike) for years only been on a bicycle for about 2 years now. I do, do bicycle enduros but enjoy the longer rides to, all I was saying was if everyone respected their fellow rider things would run allot smoother. Unless you are one of the top guys you aren't technically racing against anyone else but your own time, whats half a second slowing down and pulling over slightly to let a faster rider through gonna do to your overall time on a 40/60km race?
  14. Agreed, But in saying that, I know where my weak point is which is why I make sure it is easy for faster riders to pass me.
  15. This is one area that I get frustrated in, I'm pretty slowish on the long climbs which are usually on jeep track or more open sections of trail, in these areas where I know I am slower I do my utmost to keep out the way of the faster riders even if it means me riding off the trail, I just feel its common decency to not mess up other guys times, then when we enter the technical stuff/ downhills/ fast flowing single track I end up catching all the guys that have just passed me on the climbs of which 90% of them will not move over even when I ask politely, it builds up to a point where you have to force your way passed them making it unsafe for both of you (more for them) I feel just some courtesy should be had, If someone is faster than you, let him pass when it is safe to do so and everyone will enjoy the event allot more. It cant be much fun having someone pressurizing you and breathing down your neck through technical stuff that you aren't comfortable riding to begin with.
  16. Or the Love of Beer
  17. Well I suppose it ranges from... "Really bad" to "Pretty good" to "Really good" it really just depends what you are asking.... Jokes aside, Peoples reply in this forum would be taken from their own past experiences, which worked for them, but may not work for you, best bet would be to ask the question here then once you get an answer you could google/youtube it, at least its a starting point, some advice is better than no advice, and the more advice you get the better the odds are that you will pick the right answer. I do everything myself I have never had the need to go to the LBS this is purely on principle as I don't trust them with my pride and joy, there is a vast amount of knowledge on the world wide interweb, you can find out how to do pretty much anything, so just research and don't accept the first answer you get to be the gospel truth...
  18. They are called T18L cable ties, T18 stands for the thickness and L is for long, and yes I am being serious and not just pulling the
  19. Thanks Nofearnofun fun morning out, except for the sneaky snake incident I had a blast!
  20. I'm Definitely keen, just gotta see what happens during the week work wise....
  21. I have emailed the guys at TrackR to see if and when it will be available in SA, I see a problem with it though in that it uses crowd GPS, which means it will only give a position on the stolen bike when it passes near bye someone else using TrackR.... I doubt there will be many people using the TrackR app down in the ghettos
  22. here is a pic of the bike, as Flowta said the lower end of the seatpost doesnt go onto the frame, you obviously cant see too much in the pic, Im gonna have to take a vernier home tonight and measure the wall thickness properly but it looks like +/- 2mm thick (they weren't thinking of saving weight when they built this puppy) The OD of the seat tube looks roughly 35mm so that would give a wall thickness of 2.5mm but I have just measured roughly with a steel ruler... not ideal I know...
  23. Thats the problem, there are loads of 30.9's around, 27.2 are a limited supply, but if honing out is a truly horrible idea I suppose I have no other choice... *edit* The choices on 27.2's seem to be pricey as well, where I can buy 30.9's readily second hand
  24. Ive got a 2008 Kona coil air, which I want to put a dropper post on... Now my problem comes in when Kona decided to use a stupid seatpost diameter (30.0mm), I cant find any dropper posts that are this size, except for the gravity dropper which looks like a 1960's shock and is baie lelik! Is it possible to hone the seat tube out to 30.9mm? That would open the door to a world of opportunities as far as dropper posts go.... What are your guys thoughts? bad idea? good idea? there is plenty meat there to play with and surely 0.9mm shouldn't make a hell of a difference when it is actually only 0.45mm thickness change in the wall of the seat tube.... Any thoughts? ideas? anyone tried this?
