couldn't agree more with the comments above - its risky buying shoes online without trying them on first. I personally made this mistake. If you have even a slightly broad foot, you may run into issues with SIDI as they are a pretty narrow shoe. Best is to go and try them on before purchasing. +1 on the Spez shoes.

as far as I know, this frame is tapered. It may have had a straight steerer fork fork fitted and the external cups may be there as to accommodate this narrow steerer. Sounds like you need to change the cups and the tapered steerer will fit perfectly.

It is Friday afterall so why not.... I must be honest, it's really not that bad an entrance fee when one factors in all that is included. Take Karoo2Coast as an example, factor in a cycling top and the dinner and breakfast and it is more than half of what OOT costs. Don't get me wrong, the cash we have to part for most 2 day or single day events is a fair bit - but apart from the "items included" in the entry fee, it's about the experience of the event (which shouldn't be a license to charge exorbitant entry fees). I saw that there is an event at Paul Cluver this weekend, it's not a timed "race", but a come and experience the trails type of deal. Think entry is R865.00 (somewhere around this mark), and it included a case of Paul Cluver wine, the remainder of 2019 and the whole of 2020 permit fees, and a burger & beer at the end. IMHO, that's good value?

If he saw it blow out - surely it would not have made that much of a diffs to his time if he stopped, picked it up, and pass it back to you when he caught up. Some folks.....

Yeah I think once you factor in what is included, the cost is not that bad, chow, cycling jersey, and so forth.

I started this years event from G batch with a mate who was doing it for the first time. Unfortunately my body just couldn't do it anymore, and so at the bottom of Prince Alfreds pass, I called it a day. At the top of Prince Alfred there was a number of cyclists bailing and three or four trucks were loaded to the hilt with people and bikes. At the bottom where I called it a day, another two trucks came past and were full, there was even a truck which had the back covered in a canvas (reminded me of a buffel from the mag days) and there were people jammed in there like crazy. The truck my bike was on (i was lucky, no damage to report) had around 10 bikes on it and there was space for three riders. Two of the bikes on our truck were there cause their pilots were in an ambulance en-route to hospital, broken clavicle and a smashed elbow. The back of the field was crazy, and i reckon that there were way more than 300pax that bailed. At one point, almost every vehicle we saw had people wrapped in space blankets, was carnage. Eish I did not know - fixed. I see they also are no longer title sponsor for the K2C? Wonder if it is due to the current economic environment or if they are at the end of their sponsor term and simply not renewing? Either way, fully agree, this is where we as riders need to rally together and support them even more.
