  1. Klink asof iemand net dikbek is omdat hy nie weet hoe om draaie te ry nie....
  2. I'd slap that onto my bike in a heartbeat. Lever stroke slides as smooth as a tendertrepreneur through a coal transport contract, beautiful details that are all CNC cut into the metal with precision, and nice finishing details. If you ever pay the guys at Csixx a visit you will see that their manufacturing processes are impressive or even more so than the product itself. Hours are spent over cut path details, the feel of the actual product on the bike right down to the laser etch design. Before you have negative comments, maybe realize that most of us cannot even engineer a ProNutro box let alone bike parts that can be used and abused, all while that coal contract never gets delivered and the actual lights and machines go off. The fact that it us being produced right here in Cape Town is amazing, and the fact that it looks amazing, works well and is packaged so nicely is something even some international players wouldn't be able to achieve. Just take a look at the tacky cardboard placard your R1100 Bontrager Line Elite Dropper arrives on... Now go out there, and support local(and your local bike shop)!
  3. in our group of mates riding in Cape Town nearly everyone has a Stumpjumper. It's hurting the business of our local dealer no end. Imagine Toyota saying for the next generation Hilux they will only bring in the most expensive model and the entry level single cab. It's that bad. I bet that Trek, Giant, Scott and Cannondale are going to climb into this hole left by Spez. The marketing department essentially aimed at both feet simultaneously and pulled the trigger.
  4. I just visit this every two weeks or so....aiming to make it the longest thread on bike hub
  5. **** me there is a massive amount of bitter and narrow minded dick heads on this forum.......and I don't even own a e-bike, but I have never had any issues sharing trails with them or going group rides which include them. I reckon the people complaining were the same people complaining about disc brakes, or when 29er's emerged on the market.. Just go ride your bike man...there is a life and identity for you lot out there, outside strava you know...
  6. It sounds like you need to have your perception of fun checked then mate....this website is all about riding bicycles....If you like quad-bikes or static trainers more you maybe need express your sense of fun on some quad bike forums
  7. Mountain biking were started by guys who wanted to shred their way down, not up. Most people subscribe to the suffer fest of Marathan and XC riding because overcoming unfitness is certainly less scary than learning to hit a massive gap on a DH track. The long and short of it is that E-bikes allow you to get to the top quicker, and have fun on the way down, and quite frankly, that is what REAL mountain biking is all about.....but if you rally along with the fun police, I am not going to stop you riding your XC bike on gravel roads into the wind for 5 days straight....just don't come and rain on my parade once I own a e-bike, and when I am having a fun time one the trails and you don't..
  8. Coughed up R14k for that DVO in August, but I would be lucky to get R10k for it after two months of riding twice a week...that is a big knock to take. There is a nice Fox36 on here for R10k..
  9. Excellent entry into the Enduro bike market: https://www.bikehub.co.za/classifieds/327666-specialized-enduro-29/ Buy now to avoid disappointment
  10. Alright, in my opinion then, but just because something is from South Africa doesn't mean it should look like a cheap and nasty China Carbon copy. South Africa produced some great industrial designers, Keith Helfet, Gordan Murray, Pierre Terblanche and Oona Scheepers just to name a few. I am sure if Momsen put up a forum where designs could be submitted by local industrial designers, some really special designs would filter through.
  11. Still fugly, and stupid. Buy a Pyga 110 or Banshee Phantom, Specialized Camber and you will have a bike that can climb as well, and rape the Vipa on the downhills. Pointless bike.. don't waste your money here on a Momsen
  12. Ah, all the pipedreams for an epic handling 29er. Here is my nominations: http://www.bansheebikes.com/bikes_page/banshee-prime-mountain-bike/ http://www.nicolai.net/160-1-ION+15.html http://alutech-cycles.com/Alutech-Tofane-Komplettbike-29-v3-M2014 And the alutech will soom be available with the new improved range of pinion gearboxes: http://enduro-mtb.com/en/eurobike-pinion-2015-with-three-new-lighter-gearboxes/ Now that is something to sink you teeth/cash/extra bond on your home into!
  13. I think a 130mm 29er (Commencal Meta) or a (120mm-140mm) 650b/26er bike should be the perfect bike for hitting trails and /or Enduro events in South Africa. Hell, I have a friend who completed the Transbaviaans on his 140mm Shova 26er in eleven and a half hours. If I had the skills of Nino Schurter, then yes, I might have been able to win an Enduro with it on local soil, but I don't. I agree with some of the above mentioned comments....just delete the article and pretend you never posted it.
  14. I will buy an pinion equipped bike in a hearbeat if I had that cash. It's actually o.k priced (what is these days?) You can buy the frame and gearbox from alutech for 3500 euro. That is a dual suspension frame & drivetrain in one go. I had some correspondance with them, and all the minor issues have been ironed out, and oilchanges is only once a year, or every 60000km. Further you run a single speed chain to the back which means it chains will last even longer. If I win the lotto tonight, I ordering my Alutech Fanes 650b tomorrow!
  15. On the subject of Gears. I have a Sram X0 rear derailieur. All works fine, but the spring tensioning the (which is removeable on the XO by the way) cage doesn't generate enough tension to hold the chain on when going over rough terrain. Any idea who can help in finding a very high tension spring for a derailieur as the XO?
