  1. I see the V800 comes as a watch. This Argus had to tape my RS800CX to my handlebars since after 4 years the watch could not stand the abuse of strapping it everytime as tight as possible around the handlebar. Would be great if you had a pod that you could attaced the V800 to on your bike and then unclip to wear as a watch. .. another requirement.
  2. I have another requirement. Don't know if the new BMW's still have this feature but back in the days you could tell the car the distance you're going to travel and how late you want to be there, and then the computer would tell you 'based on your current speed, if you're going to make it on time'. I need that feature in my GPS heartrate monitor as well. Does the V800/Garmin have such a feature?
  3. Guess I'll have to start a new thread "What GPS heartrate monitor device to buy"
  4. Sucks!
  5. I'd like to see my Argus mat split times. Where can I get this? Would also like to see last year's.
  6. ah for crying in a bucket give it a rest now.

  11. Interested in the maths/physics of this one, You have 2 riders starting in C doing 3h10 in the Argus, given the same conditions and fitness, what would the time be if they join forces on a tandem starting in the # group? The weight of the tandem is 20% less than their two road bikes put together.
  12. Froze one of my bottles of water last night as an experiment to see if it will be cool to drink when I run out of my first bottle. Didn't work. Was warm. Otherwise had a great race starting in E (seeded C) hanging back enjoying the scenery for a change. And just have to mention this... WE GOT MEDALS!, vewy nice
  13. How can one find out if this is so?
  14. The most dangerous Argus yet. Think I'll check my life, medical, bike insurance before the event.

    Argus 2014

what was your index to get that?
  17. So last year they shooted us out in 2 minute intervals. You caught the slower bunches while they were still big, wide and usually up a mountain. This year they're shooting us out in 1 minute intervals. Obviously nobody listened to our complaints of last year. If you're not in A or anything earlier forget about it. If you're in B you have a slight chance. Slighter than last year. Could this be the year for a new crash out record?

    Argus 2014

My index was 14 and I got C, so that png is seriously wrong
  19. Can we have a gravel section to start and finish with please? I was thinking why not start from the gravel road inside the Boschendal estate and then end there as well? Another option would be, because the road from Paarl to Pniel will be really unsafe thanks to the poor road condition, traffic (trucks, busses, etc) as well as sharing the road with the short route riders, to force us to ride on the gravel next to the road.
  20. I fitted my timing chip as directed to my front wheel, but lost it in the 99er when a rider lightly crashed into me - he came from the side and hit my fork. Getting a new one, and just want to know where is a better place to put the chip?
  21. Yeah now a GPS sounds like the tool to have! Comes Monday starts the admin to get some time registered. I do have a polar watch heart rate monitor hope that will help. I cam down the downhill hearing everyone scream "whow howoooooh" could not see what the fuss is all about through the dust cloud until it I saw the bodies lying all over he place. I could only manage to move to the left and thats when somebody hit me from the side. I was clipped out with my left leg, he fell, I managed to stay upright. Untangled myself and went all for it while hearing the grunts and moans of the bodies I was negotiating through. When I hit tar, I shifted to my smaller chain ring and the chain went off inside, obviously my FR was off from the impact. Lost a few seconds, lost the group, and thats when I started hauling some of the guys in - %306. Some A % and B guys came past up vissershok, but could not remember their numbers. Then caught up with the heavy guy in black which I past up the final hill to the finish line as well as the guy in yellow shirt blue pants with strong legs (very like the photos posted in this tread). . I was %316, Focus black bike, 65kg, 40 years old, white UV sleaves.
  22. Hi all, Lost my chip in a crash in the dirt road. My finish time was about 2:52 (group %). I finished with a coloured guy (about 85kg) with a black suite with a small black backpack. He was also in %. Does somebody know this guy since I'd like to get his time, and see if the race organizers can help me out. PS. I know I finished in front of %306 by nearly a minute. Cheers jk
  23. Stop eating all forms of grain!
  24. Last year's medal came without its lanyard. Really, for the $$ wtf? Maybe this year we will have to share coke cups so that the margin goes up.
  25. Depends on, 1. What you ate 2 days before the event, 2. The day before the event, 3. The morning before the event, 4. as well as what you ate on the start line.
