  1. Hi, Looking at doing a tubeless conversion on my 26" rims. At the same time am looking at changing from shrader to presta valves. Does anyone know where I could get the adapters/grommets for this in the Durban area. Are 20" tubes with presta valves easily available or would or be better to get valves and use the gorilla tape method? Thanks
  2. My understanding is that the cutoffs are for everyone, but I think they are fair enough. The last batch has 7 hours to finish the race.
  3. meant using a cloth or just a piece of chain.
  4. Chain whip is for removing whole cassette, but this usually made of more than one piece. The chain whip is to stop the cassette turning when you use the casette removal tool on the lock ring. You don't need a chain whip to put the casette back on. Would recommend getting it making a chain whip as the leverage needed to remove the lock ring can be quite a bit. Would recommend you keep a spare tube with you (even if you are running tubeless).
  5. You need to put a fire under your insurances butts. Your insurance needs to get the excess or if the owner or his insurance. If you do not chase your insurance up, you will not get anything back. Took 18 months for me to get my excess back.

  7. I think you should still lay a case. If this idiot does kill or injure someone, this should hopefully show that this is a habitual practice, as an aggravating factor (in court).
  8. You will find it in the road traffic act.
  9. Not to mention third party liability.
  10. It's called rubbing alcohol at the pharmacy. It is good for cleaning most things. They also use it in CD cleaners, video head cleaners and screen cleaners. It is good for cleaning grease off rims and disc rotors.
  11. 1st for me too
  12. Bought a Shimano chain the other day and it came with their own version of quick link. Still prefer the sram version.
  13. The event and vibe were great. The weather was brilliant. Did the 40k and loved it, course was nicely laid out and well marked. The water tables were great and supportive.
  14. Would be a bit concerned with this one. The S4 is already a fairly large phone and having that receiver in the headphone jack looks like a recipe for disaster. I can see that connector breaking after a while. Not sure if many of the popular exercise monitoring apps would support this (otherwise I think they would have mentioned some of the bigger names)
  15. . Was going to buy an a70 or an a60, but ended going for a Mongoose because of this.
  16. I see they've postponed the Umko classic.
  17. Welcome to KZN, Kingdom of the hills. At least the hills are well placed, I've done some 45km races where the monster hills are at the end. Break the hill down into portions and at your self goals along the way, (and pace yourself). Hope you enjoy your race
  18. You should also try Virginia trails out by Eston. Some really nice single track.
  19. My new toy
  20. You should hellopeter them. The site is for compliments and complaints. Sadly most people only go there for complaints
  21. Have been looking at Axis (and have changed my mind) , but from what I've seen their 2013 prices have rocketed way above the standard 20% Axis A70 was R2999, now. R 4,500
  22. Hi guys, Looking at getting myself a mountain bike in December and hope to get the Mrs one during the course next year. My daughter was given a 20" bike a few months ago. The reason for my post is to find out your experience with the various boot mounted racks (as my car does not have a tow hitch). The options that I have seen so far are the Beetle Buzz, and the hold fast. Not too sure on the differences. Thanks.
  23. I am in a similar situation. Looking at getting a mountain bike in December. Have been looking at some other options. What are your guys thoughts on the Axis A70 and A60? My local bike shop has also recommended the Mongoose Switchback.
