  1. Strange thing that you have one of those vouchers, your friends must know what you like....
  2. If you ask me, the retard award goes to the person saying "Use the search function" Clearly the guy is new to forums, so clearly he hasn't figured out the search function. Think before you type. And if you don't you suffer. PS, this is a response to the stupid replies, not the stupid questions. As there is no such thing as a stupid question. But there such things as stupid replies... I respect someone with the courage to ask a question. I don't respect someone with an unhelpful stupid answer.
  3. And our glocks won't be any match for this!
  4. From guns to dogs... Great thread this is... My story, riding at the top of Emmarentia against the fence at Markspark got a good speed going and all of a sudden out of nowhere a border collie comes up next to me trying to bite me (This is by that little bridge), so I try fend the dog off but it gets a nip in and a lose a little control and start going down the embankment, now the owner comes running. I start shouting at the owner saying WTF is your dog doing, and she responds saying I keep it off the leash because it only attacks cyclists and that's ok because we should not be riding in the dog park. Some estranged owners out there...
  5. The hood takes no prisoners, dogs, cats, mice, rates... It's all fair game!
  6. I think this is the more likely situation. If the the guy is on this forum reading this thread he must be so thankful that someone understands him
  7. Or he just likes the feeling of it rubbing against his chest as he rides?
  8. I do not disagree with anything you have said. We are just using different perspectives. I am sure he won't shoot it or pull it. But to another cyclist will I take that chance in confronting him? If he was on the wrong side of the trail but I saw a gun I wouldn't say anything? Having a gat strapped to your chest is not in any way helping the situation
  9. So say I punch him, now he pulls out his .45, now in any persons right mind they are not going to take the risk of getting shot... So it's not the question of shooting, rather the question of threatening a fellow cyclist with a gun.... Imagine that thread... "I am new to cycling and was on the wrong side of the trail then this guy shouted at me so I stood up for myself and he pulled a gun on me?"
  10. Yeah if I punched you and you shot me I would cry foul...
  11. I actually would love to hear the other side, this dude must have some talent, I mean to ride and punch at the same time, I don't think the pro's could even do that... Times are a changin!
  12. It's Johannesburg Harlem of sorts, gang's, drug's, gat's.... Would advise to stay away
  13. "I stated that he can try punch me and see what will happen" - Threat or warning... fine line? Yes, especially if you go around punching people on the spruit, you may end up shot DEAD!
  14. Let's absorb... Pretty aggressive first post, stating he is willing to pull it out if needed... Now the threat to any mountain biker that has a different opinion to the one he does, the dispute on the trail may be 50/50 with no right or wrong answer so because you have your weapon the other guy no matter how right his argument may be may be in a lot of trouble with you as opposed to another rider. Yes I agree in not going around punching someone, but don't add to the fire and threaten to beat the **** out of people, you clearly are an aggressive fellow... Now you finally get some sense, I agree with this one. But having a gun on the trail is not promoting this sport in any good way or pushing it in the direction that it should be pushed. At the end of the day, your gun is for the people that will hijack you, not the other mountain bikers. So don't be a aggressive person with other riders on the trail, handle it like a human and have a adult discussion and not go threatening other riders with guns. Absorbed?
  15. This is NO joking matter... Some kid is riding his bike down the Spruit with his friends (and maybe does not know etiquette just yet, kids are known to be rude sometimes) and you go show him a gun?! Ya.... You are definitely taking the sport in the WRONG direction
  16. I punch you and then you shoot me... Makes so much sense now
  17. I used to only have to worry about falling off my bike and breaking a bone or two... Now I have to worry about some cowboy putting a cap in my ass.... This cycling thing ain't for the faint of heart....
  18. Dial'd bikes has amazing service! I just hope their popularity increases so they have the resources to expand their catalogue because that woud be the best place to shop EVER!
  19. Hey guys, Was wondering with all the new laws and the age of this thread to confirm that bike components are still duty free? Planning on ordering a handlebar and a toolkit from CRC and unsure on what import duties are at the moment? Has anyone ordered anything lately? Thanks
  20. I thought this thread was long gone... Trollololololol
  21. Thank you for all the replies... So overshooting budget a bit but this is what I am going for... Shimano XT Front hub 32h Mavic XM319 32h RIM DT Swiss revolution DB spokes Think it should do the job for now?
  22. I seemed to have buckled my front wheel so its time for a new one... I kind of know how to build a wheel so want to learn on it as I think its a skill I want to learn myself, so I want to buy all parts individually, this is where the tricky part comes in, buying the right things.... Important points... 6 Bolt disc breaks 26 inch wheel Budget: R1000 And the bike is used for Freeride/jumping so needs to be very strong, weight is not too important... Spoke length? Spoke make? Wheel makes? Thanks
  23. How do these trails compare to the singletrack and bush tunnels of Mankele?
  24. Thanks for the replies, Van Gaalens is awesome and we go there often but this is a long weekend and we are looking for maximum amount of gradient, hence we need to get out of the city It is indeed a long weekend, PMB doesn't sound too bad, will look into those places. We shouldn't be too phased about driving the extra distance as long as the riding is worth it
  25. So every year me and some friends make a mission out to Mankele for a long weekend for some good riding, been there a few times and it really does never disappoint, it's just that we may want a change of scenery, must have the level of single track Mankele does... We from Johannesburg and don't mind driving 3-4 hours away.. Any suggestions of some places that I may not know about? Thanks
