Ride a Giant TCR comp 2 and am very happy with it If I am not mistaken the Pina frame is more expensive and would think at least as good. Just not sure whether there are any compatibility issues between Pina frame and Giant components. Am sure some Hub fundis can advice

Bike seems fine as I finished remaining 50 odd km of ride on it after crash. Def need new bar tape and saddle as they bore the brunt of the impact. Left machine at LBS for service and general check up. Opportunity to treat myself to new Fi'zi:k

Had my first proper crash today. Came off at pace during club ride. Not too badly banged up but amazed as to how quickly it all happened. One moment I am nicely following the wheel of rider in front of me, next I know I fly over him and as I hit the tar, see my bike bounce like it is made from rubber. Guess it had to happen sometime.

Thought about it and have to conclude that I am simply to soft for dirt without dikbande. Am out. Will do a long cradle ride instead ON TAR

Have entered but till now knew nothing about dirt sections. Not wild about that. Have to ponder how that impacts likelyhood of starting

Dropped off the first bunch at top of Maropeng, rode with a small group to cradle and picked a faster group just past the lion park. Managed to stick with them till the little hill after Valverde. There the bunch got split up multiple times and in the end I rode on my one from the last traffic circle onwards. Managed not to cramp but only just. Legs were twitching badly on the two bumps in Protea Rif. Ended at 3.13 (beating the wife by a full 50s!!!) which is pretty much the same time as last year. Given comments above around this year being a little harder, I am not unhappy. Next one up for me is Race for Victory. Never ridden that one but seems much flatter so more my style

Well done on finishing. 4.15 is respectable time for D2D. 94.7 is a bit longer with a little more climbing but it is not as concentrated towards the finish. Makes it a little easier for me

Speed, was good meeting you on Maropeng hill. Apologies for not saying much, was riding pretty close to my limit and needed all the air I could suck in. By the way you came steaming past I thought you were well on track for a sub 3 but seems you missed it by a few minutes?

Hope you are not planning on riding without full finger gloves? Real feel temp tomorrow am is -2C which means it will be a long and painful process for fingers to get back to normal. Clearly you do indeed have access to industrial strength HTFU pills

3km away pretty much means you are doing Sterkfontein hill as warm up? Now those are proper HTFU pills. Pressume on prescription only?

Is it me or are items in classifieds on The Hub often grossly overpriced? Example is the Giant TCR comp 2 in the link underneath. The frame is a 2010 model and at the time retailed for R18.5k (I know cause I had one) https://www.bikehub.co.za/classifieds/58729-giant-tcr/ Surely you are dreaming if you think that after 2 to 3 years you only have to hand in 2k? Would havethought it more realistic for the drop in value to be of the order of 30 - 50%, wich woudl mean the bike sells for 9 -12k Thoughts?

My wife is doing the TLC MTB 25km ride next weekend and would like to know to what extent it is technical. We last did the Magalies Monster together and she had to change underwear a couple of time on the downhils. Please share experiences to put her at ease (or not)

Anyone done this race? Looks like it could be a nice route but am a bt woried is is a very small race and not too well organised. Input appreciated

Has anyone got any info on Edenvale Classic in terms of route etc?

I have been told that the 2012 route was the same as 2008?
