  1. Its just a case of " ons het net een speelplek so ons almal deel maar" took my dogs for a walk across from rietvlei yesterday and drove up the gravel path towards sharondale and was closely followed by 2 MTB'ers. felt sorry for them being in my dust but what to do. Do I stop and wait for them to pass and then catch up with them and wait again or do I speed up and bounce around my dogs and miss the peacefull drive we are having? Or do I just continue and have them continue. Luckily I let them pass and they turned off soon afterwards. My wife and I can hear bikes on the blockhouse route but bikes on the blockhouse route cant hear us. Doesn't make them wrong. When we hear them we hang left and get off the trail and let them pass. Easy for both parties. I used to ride that route on a rm250 and a yfz450 and there is nothing worse than finding a jogger or cyclist that does not want you to pass them. I go around them if I know they are there but coming around a bend you cannot see or hear them but they can hear you, so in my mind they should move?
  2. I cant understand how it is better to be unsafe and legal than to be safe and illegal? I dont get it.
  3. Rather read from page one before commenting.

  5. Ok so let me just say this once more. Or let me rather clarifie my statement. If i went out of the way so that you mister fellow cyclist can pass safely and still i get rammed i will take offence.
  6. I did not want to stirr but im glad someone else picked this up.
  7. I get the point...You get the point...Seems we are alone in getting the point.
  8. I have not had an argument and still do not. You should get off your high horse and RELAX. READ boet READ. Also let me just add that i ride a MTB and do not spend my riding time on the street but unfortunately there is only tar roads to rietvlei.
  9. Where in my post did you see me mentioning that the OP was in the wrong ? I too would have done the same. And also where in my post did i say i expect the cyclist on the Right side to stop get off and let me pass? If you took the time to read you would have seen that i mentioned i would have given the right of way to the cyclist on the right side. Rather relax and read. Im a tonsil yes cool are you happy? i have said it twice. I ride on the wrong side of the road when it is safer than the right side of the road. So shoot me.
  10. The problem with many cyclists are that everyone thinks they are right and the rest are wrong. But infact none of us are right or wrong. We deal with the situation as it is at te moment and noone ever elaborates about the circumstances of the so called incident (not related to the OP's post but incidents in general) Sometimes i ride on the "right" side when its safe to do so. Other places i ride on the srong side because IN MY OPINION it is the safer side.
  11. HAHAHA are you really going to try and stirrrr up k@k where there is none? Lets keep to the point? The OP ramming into a oncoming cyclist that was a poephol for not going out of the way of a cyclist on the legal side of the road. The OP being in the TOTAL RIGHT. If you read what i said i would have gone around if i saw it being clear (because i can see) or pull over so that he can pass safely. So get your G-string out of a knot and relax.
  12. Ek se liewer niks. If you cannot read the whole post dont comment on segments of it. LoL whaddakwas !!
  13. Cool ill pm you when we go again.
  14. Hey peanut butter, I ride rietvlei with my wife every weekend but every now and then we do i trip to the blockhouse wimpy for breakfast. Works out to 40km's im not sure but i dont think rietvlei is a good track to judge racing fitness. Its very technical and i think the USN races are more open flats. Wait for some replies perhaps there are more guys that have ridden it with some advice.
  15. HAHAHA i love how cyclists hate cyclists. If you read my post you would see what i said. As i said i will go out of the way for a cyclist on the legal side of the road but if he had to ram me like the OP i would have not been the one on the floor. No war flags, no ego just a comment. Like those things forums where made for , COMMENTS on subjects.
  16. I AM A TONSIL AND PROUD!!!! I TOOK A DIVE ON TUESDAY THAT LEFT ME WITH A FARKED ELBOW AND KNEE !! if i had been traveling the right direction i would have been run over by a woman stuffing her face with a pie !! so screw who ever wants to call me a tonsil a idiot or call it cleaning out the gene pool !! You will be run over i will be alive. The way i see it is presicely I SEE IT !! I go out of my way when a cyclist approaches but i can promise you if one had to try and ram me like you did i would be the one better off and you will get one heluva hiding!!
  17. THANKS A TON PATCHES. this is presicely what i was looking for.
  18. LeTurbo i have gone through the Kurt Exenberger series of beginners videos was just keen to see what fellow hubber find work better for them.
  19. HaHaHa nope im on a 26'' . Sir M so if i understand you correctly i should stay upright and lean the bike and not lean with the bike as i am used to? the inside pedal upright i learnt the hard way.
  20. Howsit guys. Im trying to figure out how to get quicker corenering speeds. I come in too quick and loose the front all too regularly or i end up slowing down completely. Its not like i can blip the throttle and bring the back around . Also sharper cornering? is there a trick i seem to be missing. I cannot put my foot out nor can i lean the knee. Any advice?
  21. I also ride oncoming! Id rather be able to see someone fiddling with her hair and smack the curb than get smacked from behind because her mascara fell!! I also see its a majority of MTB'ers that do this. interesting! There is no geting someone over to the right side. You either do or you dont. Name calling and throwing a hissy fit is not going to change my mind nor do i think the OP is going to stop because he was called a wanker. I will stop for someone oncoming or because i can see it is safe i will go around him into the oncoming lane. I am wrong so i will go out of my way. But id rather be alive by not following the law.
  22. Ill share a pic for you Before anyone says anything about the shorts and short sleeve. I went to the gym down the road. 1.2km from home. Yes i know if i wore full kit the leeding would be less but the broken pelvis would still have been broken. I was going straight down the road and this poeph@l was in the yellow lane so i didnt give him any notice and as i approach him he makes a u-turn. I am still recovering after a year. http://s14.postimage.org/n0sh8vbkh/IMG_20111216_00079.jpg http://s2.postimage.org/u91w8kmqh/IMG_20111216_00087.jpg
  23. I almost hit 3 roadies on precisely the same way this accident happened. I was waiting for a car to pass and was going to go over just after him and luckily for me i caught a glimpse of them through the car they were behind. Also almost knocked down a couple in the south, going down klipriver under the bridge there is a slip that takes you to liefde and vrede i was going to take the slip but they were pumping it over the slip so i had to continue straight make a u-turn at the robot come back and take the slip on the other side. If i had not seen the car infront of me also want to but swerve back and miss the slip and he just continued straight i would have mowed them down. At 100km/h its very very easy to make a mistake. Unfortunately accidents do happen. Sometimes its someones fault sometimes it is not. Whether its someones fault or not lets not have it be for nothing. R.I.P Burry.
  24. my wife and i have a tazer each taped to the frame with masking tape(tears of easily enough without falling off) . We have almost been attacked by fellow MTB'ers with a tazer and the idea sprouted from them. Its the long stick type that the police used to use just a smaller version so if the handle is taped we can grab the front and rip it off. Not pretty but does the job. And besides a zombie will hesitate when he hears the familiar ratt ratt ratt of a couple thousand volts,
