  1. The cost of a RFID chip is in the region of R20.00 (at present). We all paid approx R80.00 for our chips, yet CC still lays claim to ownership of the chip in as far as they want to limit us to where and when we can use them. F#ck, CC (and the retailer) have already made a profit out of the sale of the chip. The technology is cheap and does not have to fill a big VAN as CC's equipment does. CC has always been good and I believe in the future they will continue to render a fair service. But to just want to do big races and neglect the smaller races is BS. THey entered into a contract knowing very well that at the smaller races they will probable cover costs and only make a little something, while at the big rides they are going to coin it. You cannot always have your cake and eat it too. Allow us to use our "own - paid for" timing chips with whoever is timing the race. If not, lets all purchase an indepent RFID transponder at cost + 15%, and establish a new database. The database is then made available at a small fee to the timing company and Bob's your uncle. That cannot be very hard to do. Just my humble opnion.
  2. The initial post by TCS adds up to total of about 1.9m Euro. TV presenters stated total purse to be around 3.1m Euro. Where did the rest go? Individual winners?? Or are individual funds calculated into team totals? Yes cycling has very low prize money compared to many other sports, but is cycling really a spectator sport? If you are not a cyclist, it is really boring to watch, and even for cyclists, to watch a flat stage in the Tour, gets ot be boring (except for the last 50 km's or so). No spectators = no sposnorship = low prize funds.
  3. I waxed for years. In the beginning it really f*$king hurts, but you get used to it. And yes you hairs on yours legs do thin out. Have not been riding this year so have not waxed for quite some time. Stop being such sissy's. You only have to wax once a month, and you guys are all big strong dudes. If the ladies can do it, we can do it!!
  4. Oops, I forgot his cycling partner also bought the the new team bike last year, and yes his has cracked!! Just bear in mind that he weighs over 100kg's. And you know, his frame is being replaced without any hassles or any issues. If my memory serves me correctly, the rather expensive Cervelo's were also cracking left right and centre not so long ago.
  5. I ride a 3 year old (I think) RC9000. I was a bit apprehensive when I bought it as I was "downgrading" to a Raliegh (What a skandaal!!!), but you know what it has given me only pleasure and nothing else. All my fellow cyclist friends are always amazed at how "light" it is when they pick it up (we all know the bike test!!) and then immdediately the comments start coming. Even my brother bought the new 2007 team issue to my total shock, and all I can say is that it is an awesome machine and it is spec'ed unbelievably. So to all you critics and non believers out there .
  6. Screw the colonel and his derogatory remarks. Nice one Crux. Good luck to spinnekop, TCS and all the other hubbers. It takes immense effort and dedication for these guys to do the Giro (full time jobs). You go out there, have fun and makes all us hubbers proud.

    Dry needling

Also had it done, couple of times. Broke my clavicle badly and ended with frozen shoulder. They stuck needles in my back, chest etc. Really works lekker. The needles are really fine, so does not hurt when they stick them in.
  8. I am flabbergasted at the responses and posts on this thread. F&ck, if someone catches me and wants to ride with, hey, hop in and enjoy the ride. If I catch someone and feel like joining in, then I do so. If you want to chat to me, please do so. If not, don't. I really do not mind. We are a cycling family. I do not have anything to prove, and I don't expect you to want to prove anything. I am out on my bike enjoying myself, why get stressed when a fellow cyclist joins me. If want to go in front and pace for while do so. If you ge through too hard I am not going to sit your wheel and try to follow you. How simple can it be??

  10. There always seems to be some confusion regarding the correct frame size when it comes to compact type frames. Again this has cropped as I am trying to sell a bike. Below is the table suuplied by "Giant". Remember this is not carved in concrete and should be used as a guideline. I personally ride a medium frame and am 6" (1.81 m) tall.
