  1. I have some cycling shirts both short and long sleeve, bibs and cycling shoes that my son is not using anymore. Anyone know about a cycling charity or struggling academy I can give it to? Young adult size.

  3. Any idea where we can view pics?
  4. I've got some of the above if you need. Where are you and how do I get it to you?
  5. I have the following to donate if you can use it: Scott Aspect 640 frame (medium) 2 x 26" rims with tubeless tyres 1 Rock shock recon (needs service) Front and rear disk brake hydraulic system without a disc I would like to donate the above to someone that really needs it. Want to pay a good deed forward!
  6. My 16yo son did the 45 km. He would love to do the big one but luckily there's an age restriction on it. He is a big boy (tips the scales at 100 kg - heads up future Buffalo). Phoned me at the first uphill almost crying from backache. I told him to do what he thinks best. He, of course, carried on and finished in 3:12 and loved it (7th in his age category). I have one problem now, he wants to do downhill racing!!! LOVED the downhills, can't stop talking about it. Told him until he is on his own medical aid, no downhill racing will be done! He will definitely be back next year and can't wait until he is 19 to do the big one and of course the Cape Epic!
  7. It is the same one. http://www.wheels24.co.za/News/SA-motorsport-gem-Steve-Wicks-killed-20140509 RIP Steve.
  8. A Scott Scale 960 and a weekend/holiday job to make up the difference between the R5k he has and what we need to pay for the bike!!! He's very excited. The guys at the shop knows him quite well and has trained with him and agreed that he cannot get onto a entry level bicycle. Magalies Monster here we come!! It's his 3rd and last of the short route. Next year he's 17 and then he wants to pack the "real" Monster.
  9. Thank you, I appreciate your assistance. I won't be put off the Hub, lots of decent folks around!!
  10. Can you please point out where I accused the store owner of selling stolen goods?
  11. Uhmmmm...... not sure where the hostility is coming from, but I'm actually looking for a bicycle and someone asked do we know what the price is??? I phoned out of real interest but as a novice, I'm a bit nervous to buy from non-bike shop. I merely gave some feedback, didn't know that was looking for ****!!
  12. I phoned them, they want R12 999 for the bicycle. When I asked some spec questions they didn't have a clue what I'm talking about. Just told me to come and have a look. I asked whether they would be negotiable on the price and they told me to come and we can talk. Obviously not going!!!
  13. Thank you everyone. Unfortunately none of the bikes in the classifieds were suitable, either too small, too far or not strong enough (my child is build like a 1st team Rugby lock instead of a cyclist - and growing). The good guys at Cycle Lab worked out something for us and he should be getting his new bicycle by the middle of this week!
  14. A medium Scott is too small for him, we have tried. Pity...
  15. Thanks, I will give them a try.
  16. My 16 yo son recently lost his MTB. He is desperately looking for a new one and was promised a good deal for R5 000. He has saved, sold and begged and now has R5000 but the promised bike never materialized. Should've know the offer was too good to be true. He is a VERY keen mountainbiker and needs to ride. He is quite tall and stocky and will need a large and not a dainty bike. Unfortunately I do not have any extra money to put towards the bicycle. Does anyone know of or have a second hand bicycle we can have for R5 000? He is very serious about cycling and even has aspiration to go pro after school.
  17. Can SAS boards be used for this race?
  18. Thanks S, must be 'cause he has such an amazing trainer!!!
  19. My son did the 30 km and did very well (even though he had to ride with the U16's who all seems to be animals with super human powers - there does not seem to be a U15 group) with no bottlenecks. He said the course was amazing and much better for splitting off from the 50 km this year. We were home, showered and resting by 11. I think the secret is to start seeded and in the front of the pack, although the 50km seemed to have loads of entries! He would also dearly love to do enduros, so please let us know where to find them. He is currently saving up to buy an enduro bike.
  20. Yes, there were. I only saw 2 though. My kids tried one but fought too much so I made them get off!! Careful with those test rides. My son fell in love with an unaffordable BMC Fourstroke. Couldn't get him off.
  21. This is how my son's race went down!!! Anyone feel like sponsoring him a new wheelset? Don't hold back.......
  22. RIP @africanmtbkid, this is so sad. You were such a role model to my son. We are so shocked. Condolences to his family.
  23. Go into the facebook page and save the images from there. Free photos!!
  24. So true. It was an expensive lesson. The bike is with the bike shop at the moment and we don't even know the extend of the damage yet.
  25. Please let me know if you do a 2nd round of orders. I'll take 2.
