  2. Martin, thanks so much to you and all the other unsung hero marshalls. I commed the U/16s who did the shorter distance so I don't know if I passed you, but I do my best to "wave" a thank you to every marshall I pass en route when and where possible, although sometimes it isn't possible because at the back of your mind yu always have this feelin gthat some D-double-o-ESS may decide not to listen to the marshal and come hurtling into your bunch. Respect and appreciation to you guys for a job well done yesterday - thank you!
  3. That latest news sounds a whole lot better, but thoughts & prayers are still there for you Brad!
  4. Oops, meant to add GLAD YOU'RE OKAY to that last post!
  5. If your ex-Met did its job, why do you wanna change brands? The other obvious option would be a Bell, I would suggest/recommend.
  6. RIP The Idol
  7. Sorry Hond, if I told you it wasn't fugly I would be lying...
  8. Wishing Bertus a fast & full recovery. Thanks to the motorist who stopped and held protect everyone involved at the scene! And as for the driver of the bakkie... I hope he gets a bad cramp where it really hurts!!
  9. Welcome Kevin, and incredibly well done, truly inspirational and I'm sure your ride put a lot in perspective for a lot of people I wish you everything of the best with your Iron Man dream and please keep us posted on the FaceBook group, I will definitely be joining that one! 10. VA 269's name is Tijl van de Winkel of MTN Club 100 - well done on setting such a good example. Do we name & shame VA234 (I have all the names of that bunch) Hi Ricycle - I was only pointing out that NOT ALL VA's are PIGS... Sorry Flemish, I got so angry with the baddies I kinda overlooked the fact that the goodies are by far in the majority so WELL DONE to all the well-behaved, polite, environmetally-friendly cyclists - VAs and all other categories

  13. Thoughts & prayers with Jeff & Cynthia. Please be careful out there all of you, although this incident once again proves that you can be as careful as humanly possible but, sadly, there is still no accounting for moron drivers. Gratitude & praise to all who assisted!
  14. Thanks to all the Under 16 boys for an absolutely brilliant race, I was so proud of all of you - the sportsmanship, the comeraderie, the positivity, the discipline... it was class! It was an absolute pleasure working with you guys and your managers today. And thanks to the CMA bike marshalls too, you guys are doing a great job!
  15. Stunning! Thanks 1minBoy
  16. Intern! I hope you're generalising there!! You know I have NO reason to be at cycling events other than the love of the sport - I have no living personal connection to the sport any more, I just happened to have been born into it and I do what I can to help. For example, SA track champs - my flight was paid for but I stayed quite a way from the track and had to hire a car - at my own expense - for six days so that I could get from the airport, attend meetings, officiate at the champs and get back to the airport to get back to the job I took two and a half days unpaid leave from so that I could work at the champs. Most of my weekends are taken up with cycling. We do get paid a small fee for road races but that is not why I do it. I am not complaining, it's my choice, but I really do do it for the love of the sport and I do believe that most of the time my efforts are appreciated - I stay out of the politics and I do my job to the best of my ability and with a whole lot of passion and commitment, but I do get kinda offended at being pigeon-holed with "the officials" - sadly this tends to be the case most of the time though...
  17. Some of those names you were asking for - in the second pic it's Riaan Joubert with his dad Freddie, brother Werner and uncle (dad's brother) Andre - who rides in the 70+ category. And in the second last pic it's Neal Corbett with Morne. Looking forward to more great racing tomorrow - good luck all!!
  18. Stunning pics Ronelle! Looking forward to more on Saturday How awesome were those Thomsons!? Just so everyone knows - Mike Thomson won the Elite omnium, James Louter was second and Jean Spies third.
  19. Same thing happened to a friend of mine (well, not exactly, cos she doesn't even have a dog) but she had to take the Citi Golf in to the dealer... good luck HR, hope you come right soon.
  20. I think the blue looks cold, go green go green GO GREEN!
  21. Hey Sampie, you can use my name too, doubt they'll moan at me for sending business their way, just not sure that they sell direct though... but a great bunch of guys nonetheless. Good luck!
  22. Leon, phone Avnic Trading (importers/distributors of Garmin) and speak to Fraser, he will help you answer all your questions - tell him I told you to phone (he'll know me as Lynne from Hi-Tech) and I will sort him out if he does not sort you out!!! Their number is 011 704 6147. Lemme know if you don't come right!
