  1. When: Saturday afternoon around 14h00 Where: PArking lot in the school grounds at Paul Roos Gymnasium, during the last Spur Schools mtb event How: Very easy, bikes were parked next to my bus while we were attending prize giving.
  2. Hi Flymango, sorry for the late reply, been running around trying to find my bike...... I was guilty of being too trusting of my fellow man. We were busy helping school kids at last Saturday's SPUR Schools XC mtb event at Paul Roos. Bike was parked next to my bus all day. During the day there was constant movement with people and bikes around the parking lot. I would ride my bike to help kids, then leave it parked next to bus while watching the next event. Bike disappeared during price giving, while we were celebrating our schools victory in the mixed category. Obviously somebody disguised as a fellow cyclist walking around the parking lot, loaded the 3 unattended bikes and left. Lesson, never leave your bikes unattended, even in a crowd. There are people amongst us that look like you and me, helping themselves at events to others bikes. VERY VERY expensive lesson learnt, as bikes were not insured. R100k out of my pocket.
  3. Two others bikes also taken: 26" Silverback Mercury dual sus - Set of Mavic Crosstrail rims Scwinn Mesa (White with black & yellow details)
  4. Morning Hubbers. Especially Stellenbosch and surrounds. Please be on the look out for my stolen Momsen SL929. Couple of unique features to make it very easy to stand out. 1. Powertap oversized rear hub. (Thru axle). - Very few mtb's riding around with these. Even fewer on 142+ thru axle bikes. Built on ZTR Crest rim. 2. ZTR Crest front wheel with tied & soldered spokes. Stickers quite faded from the sun and washing. - Again something you don't see very often. 3. Carbon Fizik Antares saddle with red details and carbon rails. (Some scuff marks on the sides). 4. Very narrow and well worn Easton EA90 carbon h/bar. 5. 2013 Sani2C bracelet on h/bar. Bike is not insured so offering a R5000 reward if complete bike is returned. Thanks Francois

  6. My new L1tespeed - SS. All my old unused bits & pieces lying around. - Frame: Litespeed Ti frame with welded seattube with a shim in to keep from going again) - Fork: Very old SID fork, not sure of exact age, but definately at least 8-10years old. - Cranks: Old set of Superlight Stork Powerarm carbon road cranks that cracked and got repaired by carbon guys. - Wheels: AM Classic v-brake rims & hubs. Had my 1st ride with it this am and had an awesome ride! I'm definately HOOKED!!
  7. We started at 05h18 which was a 1st for me. In past DC'c that have started in Swellendam the feeding zones were chaos. Especially top of Op de Tradouw, through Montague and narrow road to Ashton. a Big part of this was due to top teams catching rest of the field. Well done to organizers for this new start format. I just wish we can convince the traffic dept and community of Swellendam to finish this awesome route by riding into main road of this beautiful time and not at the top of a lonely hill in the back part of town welcomed only by a few marshalls.
  8. you got it wrong. Scale 29 Expert selling for 22k. (IF, big IF, you can find a shop with any stock left....) Scale 29 Pro to retail for around R30k. With the high demand for 29er carbon frames, I'm sure plenty people will be willing to pay the 17k for a Scale Pro carbon frame. ManiC Cycles in Worcester has a 2012 Elite and a Comp on the shop floor. 29er Comp going for R7,499. 29 Elite for R14,999.
  9. My customers are all very happy with the GEAX SAGUARO with TNT side walls. Also waiting for arrival of 1st batch of Maxxis Crossmark UST in 29er version (arriving later today) I suspect it will be a heavier tyre than the Geax, but probably the most popular tyre in 26" UST around here. Hopefully Conti will have UST tyre in RaceKing or new XKing soon, but doubt if it will be before this years Epic.
  10. RYDER not also offer a tubeless repair kit, almost identical to the Weldtite offering at half the price. We sold the WELDTITE repair kit for R149. Now stock the RYDER option for R75. (They also offer the spare strips as spares) Happy to post them off to you, if you take a few (min 10), I'll pay the postage and send them via Speed services.
  11. While you are doing your home work, also have a look at two other options: Merida 29er lite 1000-D Scott 29er ELite I've sold plenty of the Merida's and all my customers are super happy. Or better yet, support local....... New MOMSEN 29er's will be available pretty soon. contact me any time if you hae more questions.
  12. You'll be fine with 11-23. Before switching to tandem in the Argus, did my last "half-a-bike" Argus in A and finished with the leading group, only place I had to dig deep to hang on was Edinbrough drive, and then again up Suikerbossie (But that's mostly because I've never been a climber).
  13. Some comments from personal experience while dealing with some customers with the questions you pose. The lighter riders: - have had very few issues with 180 front 160 rear rotor setup on their 29ers. - the vast majority of them are still happily using Conti Race King 29er tyres without any problems. One particular rider we've helped is 100kg of muscle (yes there are some large "Boerseuns" that also ride their bikes.) - Upgraded to AVID solid sweep rotors, 180 front & rear - He had a few problems with side walls on the Continental tyres. - We fitted a set of GEAX Saguaro tyres before the Attakwas for his, and he's been smiling ever since. P.S. A handy tip for all the 29er riders coming to our valley in March for the EPIC.... Same abovementioned rider usually rides XX groupset, and he's certainly strong enough the pedal the gears, even up our annual Jonaskop hillclimb (14.6 km climb with 1125m ascent!!) - For Epic he's recently decided to change his gearing for Epic to 3 x 10.
