  1. Yep, you do. Add 45% Duties, 14% VAT, PO handling fee of R35 or about R150 for courier disbursement fees, and customs use their own exchange rate which is usually a little bit higher than the published rate (you can google it if you're keen)
  2. As an individual trying to operate a small business I suppose this struck a chord with me. I'm supposed to maintain a neutral attitude, not upset anyone so as not to impact on business, BUT, morals and principles take precedence and that's the way I have always been. The Specilaized trademark 'Roubaix' in Canada refers to that to do with bicycles, bicycle frames, bicycle forks and other associated bicycle components. Is the name of a bicycle shop which is also the name of a famous cycling event / town in France going to impact on that trademark? I personally don't think so, on the face of it. How many times have you come across the problems of trying to deal with a large corporate business who either have legions of call centres / minions / lawyers / contracts / small print to hide behind. Just because they're bigger doesn't make them automatically right. Should we care?, whether we are Specialized customers or not? I think we should. It's when we just shrug our shoulders and say 'oh well' that things start to go downhill.
  3. The first advert might be too tight a squeeze (it fits my iphone5 with a little bit left over) but the top tube bag should fit it no problem. I'm pretty sure I had a client who had the same phone as yours and it fitted. If you ever get to Blouberg we could meet up so you can be sure, otherwise we can always ship it and refund you if it didn't fit. Rgds Stephen
  4. How about: https://www.bikehub.co.za/classifieds/64429-waterproof-case-for-samsung-s4-iphone-5-etc-new/ or http://www.sportsworld.co.za/product.php?id_product=461
  5. haha, thanks Luc. Don't worry, I got my revenge on you as I eventually passed you in a vehicle on the R44 heading back towards Stellies. You were alone toughing it out.. I was going to open the window and shout some 'encouragement' but decided you were maybe suffering enough.
  6. A Cedar Cycling bloke was trying to overtake on the left hand side of the group on that Sonstraal Rd which had a rough road edge leading onto dirt/gravel. He realised he was going to run out of road, came right, took out the guy in front of me and then me. I think I hit one of their chain rings which opened me to the bone. I did get the award from the Doc's for the best race injury of the day.
  7. Hey at least youall got to finish. My Burger ended like this.
  8. I got taken out by a Cedar Cycling oke in the % group at 42 kms. When i initially got up I thought I could straighten my bars and go on but when I saw my leg had been cut open to the bone I thought I'd just give call it a day. The paramedics were luckily flagged down by the marshall and I was actually in their vehicle on my way to get stitched up when we got diverted to that guy who had collapsed from the $ group. Apparently his heart rate was sky high and they ended up taking him to the Paarl Mediclinic and that was the last I saw of him. I hope he's okay, at least he was in good hands.
  9. I've just packed the car and set the alarm for tomorrow morning. Jeez, I'm glad that this is the last fun ride/race for a while. 3.30am comes waaaay too early. It'll be nice to enjoy the rest of December just riding with the club, spinning the legs out and most importantly, the coffee! Roll on tomorrow......... let's hope we all have a good one . Enjoy and good luck guys.
  10. But that 'picnic' was soooooooo nice
  11. Had a great 1st DC. Managed to scrape a 6. 33 after hanging in for as long as I could. Unfortunately these skinny legs just couldn't finish with the big guys in our Outriders team who went on to do a 6.20. The atmosphere on the road was fantastic, the weather played ball, what more could you ask for. Mental note to self though, don't camp/stay in a tent next year and that way I may get some sleep the night before.
  12. Some of them will be Luc
  13. I somehow get this sense that there might be a Blue Train in %
  14. Agree. Better to buy the best 2nd hand bike you can at this stage. You should get something half decent for k6.
  15. And maybe just one more
  16. Funny enough, we are experiencing the exact same issue at the minute. SA distributors seem to have their own view of the world. We took the decision to be purely online so we could escape the issue of landlords, staff labour laws, opening times in malls, rent increases year on year, theft, burglary etc etc etc, the list goes on. Having contacted a number of SA distributors for very common cycling products we were told: "no, we don't supply online stores if they don't have a physical shop as well" "oh you have an unfair advantage because you don't have to pay rent" "yea, we have a problem with online (even though their own business is online only)" Being online isn't easy in SA as a lot of people still want to visit a 'traditional' store, unlike a lot of europe where it's just accepted but hopefully it's changing slowly but surely. So I can understand what CHris Jnr is talking about completely.
  17. It's a 6.28 start for us. I think I may have to make some small offerings to the weather gods this week, just to keep them sweet...
  18. Just back from Langebaan now. Perfect riding conditions today. Overcast, hardly any wind, the groups weren't too big, glad I made the decision to go. And even the Mamba didn't seem that bad today.
  19. My bikes black & blue, now I feel slow.
  20. Aaaah c'mon, Mtb'ers love carbon as well
  21. http://ilovebicycling.com/****-cyclists-say-video/?fb_action_ids=10153422249995123&fb_action_types=og.likes If you don't recognise yourself at least once if not half a dozen times in this video then you aren't a cyclist. Bwahahahahaha. I almost lost my cornflakes over the keyboard. Enjoy
  22. Yea just got my text, I'm in AL, but I have no idea what that means.
  23. I think you're basically saying that sweat from your forehead is getting onto the glasses/lens during your races and blurring your vision. You may find that a number of factors come into play. I have also had the same problem myself. I found that different helmets and their padding allowed sweat to run off in different areas but you can't be changing your helmet all the time as they're just too expensive. I also found that if the sunglasses sit tight against your forehead/eyebrows that it can also play a part. As I'm not one of these guys who can blow a snot rocket I always carry a hanky with me in case I need it, and I find that a quick wipe on the glasses (not if you've used it) does the trick without having to stop and use water etc etc. I think I would try either a change of glasses or a thin sweat band and see if that makes a difference. It's pretty *** sitting behind someones wheel doing 45 kmh and you can't see out of one eye. Hope you get it sorted.
  24. Yep, I'm in. Looking forward to this one. Although I'm not planning on sitting behind F_R_A_I_L this time
  25. Yep, I happen to like small companies that buck the norm and do things differently.
