  1. MTBikers always offer assistance when they see a fellow rider stopped..not often with the roadies. But i had an incident a while back on the " circuit" in Durbs one morning..after 3 flats i gave up.2 riders stopped and INSISTED on helping me out and i never got any details. But the lesson from this is always ask if help is needed and let the rider opt to say no.Dont ride off without offering.simple rule to follow.
  2. Have had 2 mails regarding my CSA renewals already and so far have ignored both.In 7 years i have never needed their stupid insurance cover. They have contributed sweet nothing to my riding,to any event i have done or anything else for that matter.A changing of the guard is not the solution to their problems.A complete refocus and new strategies is what needs to happen along with new blood.
  3. so i plan an online purchase as the " special " appeals to me.Have bought from here before but i have trouble logging in.Get that sorted and told " we have plenty of stock". So i place the order and pay.Today i follow up to find out the status of the item only to be told that they are waiting for stock to come in from somewhere!!!! I guess then it was someone else who was displaying plenty of stock and not the platform i ordered from. Such a pity because previously their service has been good. But now this!!!
  4. YOU GOT A REPLY FROM THE GM!!!!Is he still there????Why?
  5. SO to add to this..heading North towards Durban North along NMR this morning i encounter 2 cyclists at around 4.25am,one with NO LIGHTS AT ALL,and the other with a front light only. And not one street light in operation before the Engen Garage and Athlone BRIDGE area...Seriously guys,we all need to see and be seen in order to stay safe. This behaviour is totally irresponsible and never believe that " it wont happen to me".Soon you will both be another statistic reported in the media.
  6. so in reply to this, based in Cape Town is a company called VELOTEX that is owned by an ex cyclist who specialises in a lot of stuff..including cycling kit.Probably around the corner from you in Observatory.
  7. So here is my 2c worth on this topic.Have XT drivetrain (2x) on the bike.Have had a " jumping" issue, like Di2 setup on the two smallest chainrings for months now.Got used to it eventually.Snapped my chain yesterday and after replacing the speedlink it appears the issue has gone away for the time being. Makes me think that one or two links longer or even shorter make a difference in shifting effectively. Unless there was another problem i was unaware of.
  8. Rode Karkloof yesterday morning and apart from a few wet patches in places it was fantastic.
  9. so my two cents worth on the topic....what about local in the form of VELOTEX?? I have worn(and am ashamed to say, have a cupboard full of them),Anatomic,First Ascent,Santini,Giordana,NORTHWAVE and a few branded bibs that have been made by other companies. For the price, and quality of the gusset(a gel insert) there is very little to touch VELOTEX.Designed by a cyclist for cyclists, and at an exceptionally reasonable price.Just a pity that no shops locally(KZN) stock the brand. But for the price of the ASSOS box i could probably get 2 pairs of " local is lekker'...
  10. send pr@cyclingsa.com and see if you get a reply....they are a joke right now.I am hell bent on not renewing my CSA licence for 2018 because i cannot see what the point is,or the benefit.More money for them to embezzle.
  11. Try a Cape Town based company VELOTEX...run by a cyclist himself.
  12. As a " local" i can Rocky Bay IS pretty safe..Have ridden alone many times and never encountered any issues. And dont think because you start at the coast its going to be a flat ride.Very enjoyable.
  13. Having read this in the beginning my initial thoughts were " Gumtree scam yet again, and someone fell for it.".But to see all the offers of help flooding in makes me rethink ..there are some really decent people on this platform that will go out of their way to help sometimes, and its rewarding to see that.Well done to all involved..and Easybike are definitely worth supporting too chaps.
  14. Have to echo these sentiments.Right now i think they have all run for cover, hoping this debacle blows over and people lose interest.Even direct mailing has resulted in absolute silence.Yet this our national federation that we are FORCED to associate with .
  15. And the responsibilities for this position at that salary are precisely what?Because from where i am sitting it appears that sweet f...all has been done to benefit the members in any way at all.
