    Garmin 305

3 guys on the hub and loads more on motionbased http://forums.motionbased.com/smf/index.php?topic=5925.0 That seems pretty regular to me!

    Garmin 305

YES! I have been experiencing exactly that! <?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> Got my unit back from Avnic yesterday and wont have time to test it until tomorrow's Double. I am a bit annoyed, the warranty is only for a year, and although this seems like a factory fault (definitely not my fault) and a recurring fault, they don?t seem to keen on replacing these units or extending the warranty. I have also been experiencing problems with the speed/cadence sensor. In the last 2 years I have replaced it 3 times! It is normally the speed that stops working first. 305 and 705 use the same sensor, so I wonder how the guys are doing with the 705 speed/cadence?? AND THEY KEEP TELLING ME THAT THIS IS NOT A REGULAR OCCURANCE??????
  3. Yup, exactly what I am talking about, that is a compact crank with 110mm BCD
  4. Some say that the step between 52 and 34 is too big and that you will have problems shifting up and down. Interested to hear if it shifts ok. No problems thus far, the front derailleur was moved slightly higher.<?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> Down not really a concern cause the chain just drops down. Up - just make sure you don?t over shift, like doing half a shift, forgetting you have done so and then doing a full shift. Then obviously the chain will come off. Think it all comes down to correct setup of Font Derailleur. Even then I can always change to 36 if it becomes a hassle
  5. Just let us know when you are ready to sell those 404's Dropzone!
  6. The question remains - compact vs normal?<?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> I know this has been discussed at length, but I found a solution that works for me and would like to share! My previous bike came with compact 50/34, after 2 weeks of riding decided it was not for me. Changed the complete crank to normal. Then my new bike also came with compact (slightly persuaded by the carbon cranks). Ended with the same scenario. Not really for me. I like power pedaling and I do suffer on the hills. Go through the same process as before and replacing the complete set? - NO!! Normal cranks has a BCD (Bolt Circle Diameter) of 130mm and compact a BCD of 110mm. After a couple of visits to bike shops, I found a 52 FSA blade with 110mm BCD. I am now running a 52/34 with 11/21 and enjoying the best of both worlds! FSA actually manufactures a whole range of compact blades ? Outer Sizes: 45, 46, 48, 49, 50, 51, 52, 53, 54, 55 or 56T ? Inner Sizes: 38, 39, 40, 41, 42 or 44T So if you have a compact crank set you have even more flexibility. I don?t think with a normal crank set you can go smaller but with compact you can go bigger!!
  7. there are different jumpers in the box, change the combination and reprogram your remote. <?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> This will change the frequency. There should be a small black box with 4 to 5 white switches. they can either be on 0 or 1 If all are on 0 change the combination to 1 0 1 0 0 for instance. Tankman2008-11-18 04:40:38
  8. Agree - you might be able to pick up your phone with SportTracks I use garmin edge but like the functionallity of SportTracks. If your gps for some reason did not record (batery or signal loss) it is easy to correct using ST. Also gives you profiles for different equipment - quite cool when using 2 bikes and running!

Looks like FSA would be the easiest to get http://www.winstanleysbikes.co.uk/product/5863/FSA_110mm_BCD_Road_Chainrings

I have a Most compact crank 50/34, came with new Pinarello Ultegra SL derailleurs. I saw on Most website that there are compact sets of 52/36 available. After some investigation and a lot of trips to cycle shops, I found that the BCD needs to be 110mm instead of the normal 130mm, otherwise it does not fit - to big Then I found a FSA 52 ring with 110mm BCD!!
  12. Wheelsize should not make a difference? It does not register when the magnet passes the sensor.
  13. Maybe a good product' date=' but so is Garmin. Functions of Garmin trumps it though. Problem with their backup (and Garmin's) is that you have to send the product to Joburg to get a battery replaced! Pathetic if you ask me, but people in SA are so happy to just get any service they think that is good. Go figure! [/quote'] Garmin has got backup here in Muizenberg - Avnic Traiding, no need to send it to JHB Avnic Trading (Cape Town Branch) +27 21 788 9015 Capricorn Drive Muizenberg S34.08778 E18.48837
  14. When was the last time you used web updater on your 305 unit. Battery life issuse was sorted out, it was a software problem. Battery indicator on the unit will display "low battery" but would still function for almost a day before running out.
  15. Thanks! My concern is the 50 - 11/12/13 vs 53 11/12/13 really. not that worried about the easier gears
  16. not constantly no, sections on downhill and sprinting in 13 or 12 Tankman2008-10-24 03:18:41
  17. I am currently using 53/39 with 11/25. <?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> New bike comes with 50/34 with 11/23. I am not the smallest of guys and do like power pedaling. Comfortable cadence is at 90 to 100 anything higher not that lekka. I know the compact will assist with climbing, that?s why Im currently running the 25 at the back. How much will gearing will I lose with the compact or should I try and stick to 53/39?
  18. Nice! Reminds me of a flag we used to have!
  19. They are the MOST lightweight! any idea what they sell for? Tankman2008-10-20 03:36:38
  20. Most Chall, 1580gr, comes standard with the bike. The Charisma Full Carbon also looks pretty cool, dont know what price they come in though?
  21. Thanks guys! I am in the process of buying a bike for Francois, just doing some homework on the components, wheels to be exact.
