  1. Beamshots are HERE! 2. @ Night Tider - thats my biggest issue at the mo. Look for spare cateye or topeak mounts, they seem to be the only ones I can get. Otherwise go hunting on CRC. They have plenty, but $$$$$$ @ mampara - it does say ex works. You had me thinking I was going mad. It means thats the price at the factory (in this case my garage) door, P&P excluded. @ SD - I don't know your shower, but I can assure you that no ablution facilities were harmed in the making of this new toy of mine. @ everyone - 3 gorillas is the magic number. Beamshots are busy being resized in between replying to posts and pm's, will be up by this arvi. Catch you in a few...
  3. One of two things you can do - 1. If you're a technical sorta bloke, go to foxracingshox.com and download the manual. It'll tell you all you need to know, from tools needed to replacement oil and washers and seals etc. And don't forget the hand cleaner... 2. If, like me, you can't be bothered, send it to the agent. LBS's are generally as confused as the rest of us as far as shocks and forks go. And a bonus one: PM Johan Bornman. He knows everything. (no I'm not taking the piss... he really does)
  4. I'm in Vredehoek. Thinking of getting a few made up and organising a demo ride, anyone keen?
  5. Also, I forgot to mention... the unit is waterproof. Not as in splash proof, as in can be dropped in a puddle with no ill effects.
  6. Will do, just let me know what kind of plug you want on it. I can also supply a head, mount and waterproof plug kit but then you'll need to do a bit of soldering.
  7. Right, it seems there are more than a few folk out there who might be keen... I'm busy working on a costing as we speak, and will post prices as soon as I'm done. I know I said I'd post beamshots today, but the GF took priority last night... I did take it for a walk though, and the spot beam reflects off road signs 250m away... But the beamshots will follow tonight, will try to get something good and meaningful on a trail. Some answers - helmet mount can be done, it is quite big but the whole setup weighs about 450 grams so you can lug it around on your pip if you like. I'm working on a single emitter housing to use as a helmet mount though, 'cos 700 lumens on your head tends to make big nasty things look remarkably flat (until you hit them and buy some land just in front of your wheel that is) I'm waiting for bar mounts to arrive from CRC, it's a quick release screw type like the Blackburn mounts. If anyone knows of a local supplier for something similar, please pm me. Have been told by a few local distributors to get knotted cos they don't want the competition............... To those worried about losing the thread, I'll give it a bump every now and then if I need to, have a feeling the moderators might move it to the classifieds the way its turning out... Finally, thanks for all the interest. Watch this space...
  8. Haha, that would be giving away some secrets... I do have one custom one, but would have worked out waaaay too pricey so got this one off a torch. Had to have a special heatsink insert turned so I could mount the emitters though.
  9. Just finished my beast today! No website yet, but you can see it here.
  10. After much slaving, spending, research, testing, soldering and other such mucking around the fountain, here it is... - 3 x cree q5 4 watt power LED's - Programmable multimode driver - Temperature protection - 7.4v 4 Ah Li-ion battery - 2.5 hours on full - 1 week on low (and yes, you can climb fire roads on this setting) - Battery overcharge and overdischarge protection - Smart charger - charges in 3 hours - Waterproof R 3000 ex works droo2008-11-06 08:42:45
  11. 'scuse the hijack... Its over now. Will make a point of making it to the ride next month. if its doable on a bmx then a singlespeed's easy. (the pace, not the hills...)
  12. Yup, when you've seen him jump a parking lot boom while the bike goes under it, and lands it without a wobble, a wall ride's a pretty tame thing.
  13. Yeah, have seen him do some pretty crazy sh!t This is pretty tame, but it's all I got at the mo...
  14. Speak to Stirling @ Load & Go in Bree st. They have Thule and Holdfast stuff, and can tell you pretty much anything about attaching a bike to a car. From experience, the racks that don't need a towbar are a bit painful if you use them a lot cos of the straps. I bought a Thule ride-on (your wallet will hurt) and it's way better than anything that the bike hangs from. No swinging and scratching, and you don't have to take the wheels off. Holdfast do a similar one, but not quite as good/stiff/easy to mount. https://www.bikehub.co.za/forum_posts.asp?TID=35350&PN=1 droo2008-11-04 04:34:14

    Stolen Bikes

Kit or no kit, you can pretty easily spot someone who knows how to handle a twitchy R20k race bike. If a real roadie's riding his bike to the cafe in jeans and slops, he's not gonna be in the drops pushing the longest gear he can find (with his heels) and weaving all over the show...
  16. Think that answers that, thanks... Think I'll start looking for xt's or juicys. Off to the wanted page with me
  17. Does anyone have any experience of the KCNC DB2 disc brakes? Saw a set the other day for a bit more than a gorilla and can't help thinking they might be worth a shot... BUT I can't find any reviews, which makes me a bit suspicious. So if anyone knows anything, it would be appreciated. Cheers
  18. ?but that's when our night racing ends. ? ? Guess you just bumped my schedule up a bit then...
  19. All of that considered, I suggest you go with sampie's idea of the DX torch. Its an evil pig of a light, and if the beam's not right you can always get a new optic for it. Just don't try to sneak up on anyone. Ever. They'll smell the burning foliage from about half a kay away. Now that I think of it, I spent a k@khuis full of cash on my prototype, and I bought 5 of everything to keep shipping costs down. @mampara - it's a work in progress. The range will be launched when the days start getting shorter. Keep yer eyes open round Feb
  20. Currently only have a 3 x cree q5 700+ lumen beast of a thing, but I'm busy working on a housing for a single helmet mount jobbie. The hub will be the first to know when it's ready, will post beamshots of existing one soon, just have to find someone willing to lend me a camera for a nite ride...
