  1. I saw one last night, it's huge.
  2. Nice. I love mine.
  3. Do you even ride a bike? Everyone knows its wheel size that matters.
  4. Ya have found exactly the same thing, riding my canyon is great in really rough stuff but the steel hardtail is what makes me smile most on the trails. It just brings everything to life, a bump on my canyon barely gets felt but on the hardtail it becomes something you can really boost off.
  5. I take that as a compliment...I think
  6. Thanks, specs are as follows. Wheels - novatac boost hubs with e13 trs rims Tyres - maxxis high roller 2.4 back and Maxxis minion DHF 2.5 on the front. Brakes - XT Groupset - Sram eagle gx Dropper - rockshox reverb stealth Fork - Rockshox pike RCT3 140mm Stem - Easton Havoc 35mm Bars - Easton Havoc 800mm
  7. Here's my Stanton Swithcback which I just finished building up this weekend
  8. Why was no one from Tokai MTB there at the march? I know you didn't support the general idea but you could very well have been there to make people aware of what you have been doing as a few people were allowed to talk to the crowd and the march got Bell to actually address users directly which he usually avoids. I think it was an opportunity missed.
  9. Whos going to call your wife for you when you land on your head again...huh?
  10. Exactly I just wanted an opportunity to do that but wasn't invited... See link for parking lot awesomeness...its also the only pic of me at an enduro http://www.pinkbike.com/photo/10358745/
  11. I was going to invite headshot but I wasnt invited either
  12. What he said
  13. You can cycle them now...just not officially
  14. I'm just going on perception, the previous EMP was designed with a view to creating this trail around the mountain and nothing came of it despite much talk of it. So I guess as far I can see we're still just talking about it. Changes to greenbelts by COCT is really awesome and exciting but its a different entity to Sanp and when they actually open some fire roads eg constantia nek it would indicate to me that they are trying to get it done.
  15. In his vision did he manage to mention when this circa peninsula route would become a reality. Its been a vision for many years and we're not much closer. Which greenbelts are these? The one in Higgovale because constantia is still out of bounds
  16. Thanks for the reply Deon. We appreciate what you guys are doing, but I do think parks gives you the run around and doesn't give you guys the info you need eg opening of silvermine, which makes me distrust most of the stuff they tell you. Opening constantia nek would not be hard and to be honest what concessions have they made to make it easier for one of their most valuable user groups in terms of income production since the tokai burnt down? The answer to that is nothing. You guys aren't even allowed in tokai to scope out possible routes and get the trail plan ready, what kind of give and take is that? I think what's missing here is dates. It would be nice to know when parks got the proposal, when the public participation will happen etc but I'm willing to bet they won't even commit to that because there is no will to get this done any sooner. I don't hold much hope of having trails in tokai for several years, hopefully I'm wrong
  17. I have to agree with some of this. The part from constantia nek to the beginning of cork trees is just a fire rd. It wasn't built specifically for hikers or trail joggers, its just a road. For parks to wait for an EMP bla bla is just making people jump through hoops for the sake of it. Cork trees I can sort of understand the EMP thing but since it has been there forever and used by cyclist for ages I still think they're being bit painful about the whole thing
  18. Thanks Deon Some good news there I guess, hopefully the funding comes through. I'm assuming you guys need access to assess and develop the trail plan, any idea what they will allow this?
  19. Just to get back on topic here, can someone tell me exactly where we stand, what progress has been made since the closure and what still needs to be done to make sure when Tokai opens again things can get going as soon as possible?
  20. To be honest I think is was stretch using that as an excuse anyway. There is tons of rocks around to provide cover and a few patches of vegetation as well
  21. Ya me neither, there's no reason whatsoever
  22. Where are we at the moment in terms of getting anything approved? I was really hoping stuff could get done in the meantime so that when parks actually opens Tokai, Tokai mtb has their ducks in row and can get building immediately.
  23. Ya I think that's more the reason why
  24. Just when I thought we were actually getting somewhere...so same old same old then? How did trails get approved for table mountain without this EMP and cork trees cant be approved until EMP is finished. Very confusing
  25. "as cycling birds of prey" Do they require a level 4 permit? Sorry couldn't help myself
