  1. Still trying to figure out what the hell is going on here. As much as I appreciate the gains, a bike needs to look the part first and foremost. This is the ugliest bike that has come out of their factory.
  2. An alternative and safer route which avoids Kayamandi is to turn right into saxdown once on Bottlary. Then left going past Zevenwacht link road. This will take you over Polkadraai which is lovely. A bit longer but safer.
  3. Bike fitting is great when you need to dial in your dimensions to the tee. OP is just looking for advice on frame sizing and generally speaking most people fill in between 2 sizes. My 2c here is, if you want a more aggressive position, pick the smaller option of the 2. If you go for the smaller size, you’ll generally compensate with a longer stem etc. If you want a more upright/endurance position, go for the larger frame.
  4. Which farm on the network would you recommend for a coffee stop? Either post ride or even during.
  5. Opening post says they looking for ladies.
  6. Thanks guys. All of a sudden its not a bargain anymore 🤦‍♂️
  7. Hi guys. Looking to import a helmet from Wiggle. Helmet costs $100. Any idea on the tariffs that would be applicable on this purchase?
  8. I agree be lekka but things like this are good also. I’m sure they will learn and move on from it. We’re spoilt for choice so I’m thankful to have this on my doorstep.
  9. Is it normal for Meerendal to be closed on Mondays? I got there this morning and while riding down, the guard sees me and literally closes the gate immediately. I was then told the trails are closed every Monday. I don’t see this stated anywhere on the tygerbergmtb website.
  10. I agree with this 100%. Ive never come across anyone purposefully trashing the trails but that’s just me. If you’re experienced, you’re obviously gonna go quickly and if you overcooked it, what are you supposed to do? Surely that’s all part of the sport. Then they also complain a lot when newbies overuse the brakes around corners. Seriously, if you’re just starting out, its pretty normal to do this until you get the hang of it. I’m trying to understand what exactly the correct way of riding now is. Regardless, if you build specific trails with all these berms, drop offs and switchbacks, then unfortunately it’s gonna take damage. Perhaps this is is becoming too costly to maintain, but then they should increase the membership fee. I do think for the number of trails we get to ride, its amazing value for money. But if its not sustainable then perhaps increase it.
  11. So proud of her. Don’t think anyone else deserves this more than Ash. And she brought home the overall jersey as well so great way to end her season. Hope she goes out with a bang next season.
  12. Or do it 21 consecutive times and do the Munga. Sheesh, why are people so judge mental all the time? Let people do what they want to do. Let me know if you’re training hard or not for next year so i can adjust my training accordingly. Cool 😎
  13. What has happened to the Burger/Stellenbosch race? Was always a staple for me a long with the Argus.
  14. I am a broker and can provide you with alternative quotes if you’re interested. Send me a PM if your keen.
  15. Not sure how this is dishonest? You bought one device and then sold it. There’s nothing dishonest about it.
  16. So after having another glance at the Garmin website, and just looking through the specs. I just picked the Garmin Instinct 2 which is R 7,000 and I have to say the amount of features listed is pretty astonishing compared to what Apple gives you. I can 100% say that value for money, the Garmin wins hands down no question about it. I might even consider getting that instead of a new Apple Watch when the time is right just based on what you get. Looks wise, I still dont think it looks that great but you can’t deny you’re getting so much more bang for buck.
  17. If you like anything Space, Aliens, Astronomy, Science related check out the Lex Fridman podcast. It can get a bit nerdy at times but yeah, I love it. If you’re interested in Tech, check out the Waveform podcast.
  18. Their brand loyalty is definitely not dwindling. I just think the phones are that good now that any changes to the phones are very iterative that people are not upgrading as often as they normally do. My last iPhone was an XR and i got 3 years out of it and could probably have gotten another year. The iPhone design normally go on a 3year cycle. So unless we’re in a year where there is a complete design change, people wont bother changing. Next year would be a new design for the iPhone and im pretty certain the demand will increase again as everyone will want that new design.
  19. Okay so Ive just had a look now at Garmins website and nothing has changed for me. They still look primarily like a sports/exercise watch. The ultra even though looks more rugged than the older models, still looks way less sporty than any garmin watch. As for practicality, I will admit I am an Apple sheep so call me biased but the integration with my watch, phone, airpods etc is not something garmin can replicate. I can use my watch to navigate content on my Apple TV. I can use the watch to take a family photo when my phone is on a tripod. My final thoughts here. I wouldn’t buy the Ultra for 18k. I think that’s ridiculous tbh. I mainly do cycling and i have a dedicated cycling computer that does everything i need it to do. I just use the watch to get vitality points. So this watch is not really for me. But if you do different sports and you like an Apple Watch then this is an option. Is it as good as a Garmin? Not a chance in hell. So it depends on how much you value those additional features over aesthetics. You obviously disagree but I think if you pick 100 people and show them the 2 watches, the overwhelming majority would pick the Ultra on looks. People don’t want to chop and change watches and I still dont feel the garmin looks like an every day watch.
  20. People focus too much on names. Ultra just signifies the top of the range product in Apples lineup. If you wanna be technical, it could also signify Ultra from an endurance perspective. You would be able to run an ultramarathon with this watch as well as complete an Iron Man event. This is something that wasn’t possible before with the older watches due to the battery. They also say a low power model update will arrive in December which will allow you to use it for multi day stage events. It’s not really that difficult to understand. If you like Apple products, chances are you will buy this product as well. The integration with other apple devices is seamless. Also, Apple watches are smart watches first, sports watches second. Meaning that you can get away with it for everyday use. I personally would not wear a garmin watch daily. But that’s just me.
  21. So many paragraphs. I think i need to work on my sarcasm a bit more. Eish!
  22. Everyone is missing the point of this entire thread. Bikemarket sells second hand bikes with second hand tires which has second hand plugs inserted. How dare they do this? For shame! Stay clear everyone!
  23. Amazing. Thanks.
