  1. 85 KOM’s!! Are you Nino Schurter in disguise?
  2. I gotta say the new store at n1 city has been fantastic so far everytime I’ve walked in there. All the staff seem knowledgeable as well which is a bonus so o complaints yet. CWC on the other hand. **** Mr they just suck at everything. I once shown an hour in the store, walked past 5 sales guys and not one even bothered to ask me if i needed assistance. I also bought a Sidi Road shoe in their online site at a great price. Went to collect it and the white shoe was like yellow in color. It was dusty and dirty, looked worn as well.
  3. No worries, mate. Whilst I agree that if you are have a large book, then clearly you do have leverage. However some times it’s easier also to just chat nicely with the assessor, give him your reasons for wanting a cash payout, and 99% of the time a big insurer like Santam will just do it. So to end off, my advice is don’t just accept the cash card. Chat with your broker and get them to try and get a cash settlement. It shouldn’t be that difficult if you have a legitimate reason.
  4. Once they pay out the claim then they own the salvage. They’re not actually buying anything back. They’re obviously then selling the frames to limit their losses. What the buyer then did with that frame is on him. Ethically speaking it should be noted that it was a repaired frame. Unfortunately many people don’t operate ethically which is sad.
  5. Tell him to get an independent damage report where they state the damage is not repairable. CBR wants business and obviously not gonna say that especially if they vouch for their work. Problem is a bike is not a car. And once you repair a bike, then any value that bike holds is most likely gone.
  6. Wrt the voucher. It’s not actually a voucher. It’s a cash card which you can swipe at any shop. The only thing you can’t do with the card is draw money from it. A lot of the times is not really an issue and the assessors don’t particularly care that much. However, on the odd occasion you’ll get an extremely fussy assessor who does everything by the book. That’s just down to luck though.
  7. If that’s what you took out from everything I’ve said then fair enough.
  8. I disagree. Treating the customer unfairly would be giving him something inferior or something different. If you’re essentially giving the customer exactly what he insured for then how is that treating him unfairly?
  9. Again, this is not how it works. The job of an insurance company is to put you back into the same position you were before, not pay you cash. This is also incorrect. If an insurance company can offer you the same thing for a cheaper price from one of their approved retailers then they’re entitled to do that. Remember the key thing is you need to be put in the same position you were before the claim. I suggest the OP use this when arguing why he wants a cash payout and claim that the bike he wants to buy is only available second hand otherwise he will be in a worse position.
  10. I am an insurance broker myself and unfortunately you are wrong wrt how a payout is determined. If you read your policy wording and terms and conditions, it’ll state in there that the insurance company can determine whether or not to repair, replace or reimburse. Settling a claim onto a cash card is the new norm now and it’s mainly there to combat fraud. This forces the client to actually replace the item instead of pocketing the cash which is what a lot of clients do. Now most of the times you can get around this and I agree, having a broker will definitely improve your chances. But the point is, its still up to the insurance company to decide how they want to settle the claim.
  11. My two cents. I don’t think you should be too fussed tbh as it’s not your problem. If one of them wants to ride then ride. If both wanna ride then ride as well. I don’t see it should really matter to you or the group as a collective. At the end of the day, the 2 parties need to sort the issues out between them and come to some sort of an arrangement. I
  12. Would also like to know.
  13. This would actually work out quite nicely if they found a way to divert the finish if you wanna do extra 42km. In other words you don’t have to go through the whole start chute procedure again and just join up on hospital bend perhaps.
  14. So when are we going to get the extended long route? Theyve gone down the short route rabbit hole. Might as well give the rest of us what we want. A 150km option would be fantastic.
  15. Then you shouldn’t offer postage. Or inform the buyer that he needs arrange shipment.
  16. The only time I honestly had frustrations is when I sold a pair for wheels and needed a box to ship it. Because of the size of the package I then ended up driving to different bike shops trying to locate a box. I suppose it comes down how desperate you are to sell the item. If it’s an item that’s struggling to sell, and you find a buyer then chances you will probably accept the frustrations that go with it. Otherwise just be upfront and charge extra for your time if you go that route.
  17. I wonder if you can do both routes then? I wouldn’t mind doing the long route and then taking my son when he turns 11 on the short route loop.
  18. Confirmed 42km route.
  19. It’s supposed to at least be an achievement to complete an Argus. Make it under 100 and basically anyone can do it. Also, why announce this now? Surely they would’ve had this in the works for a while now. Why not just do it when entries opened? If this move actually happens, I feel like the DC would then overtake the Argus as the premier event in the western cape. At least for me it would.
  20. If they’re seriously considering adding a shorter option then that just shows how the demand has decreased. I personally dont think this is the right move but let’s wait for the official announcement before jumping to conclusions.
  21. This is a bit of weird take. Not everyone is as fit as you mate. Im pretty sure most of the teams also put in the hard work as well. The organisers were pretty clear as to why the order is reversed and it makes sense given the distance. Unfortunately we can’t win everywhere. From what I saw most of them were trying to get the teams to move over. I don’t think it’s that easy. You can get some really arrogant and stubborn cyclists who just refuse to move over. The same ones that then also blame everyone else despite riding like absolute dimwits in the first place. There is no winning formula here. I think the current format is the best one. Cyclists just need more education and discipline. In the briefing we were told teams will get flagged for riding more than 2 abreast. This wasn’t enforced. I understand its very difficult to enforce this but we have to do better.
  22. Anyone have clarity on the entry fee? Is it still 755 till tomorrow. On the website it doesn’t make mention of an early entry fee anymore.
  23. im looking for sutro eyeshade or sutro origins. What’s the best deal you got for me?
