I drove past a scene this morning at 8:20am on Hendrik Potgieter, Krugersdorp between Ruimsig Athletics stadium and Featherbrook. A cyclist had been killed. It looked like the wreck of a mountain bike. That's why I don't cycle on the roads anymore. I'm actually lucky to be alive myself after being ridden over by a Coke truck three years ago, not long after Burry Stander was killed.

Two Hero's no longer with us. R.I.P. Ertjies.

Agree 100%. My wife is vaguely aware of the tour but did not know of the route and what the impact would be on traffic until I warned her when she wanted to set off to do shopping. Her immediate reaction was to ask why the had been no billboards on the route.

That was a close finish. They'll have to study the photo for a few weeks to decide the winner.

I have just become the proud owner of a new bike and decided to try Time pedals after using Look. I am experienceing the same problem, also more with the left than the right, so have spent an hour or so riding up and down my driveway cleating in and out. It seems to be improving so hopefully will not be an issue. The pedals look great! PS - Grumpy, are you talking about a pedal/cleat combination that is 7 years old? Maybe the cleat and/or pedal needs replacing?

The wheelsets are actually both DT Swiss R1900, just different colours. I agree on the crank and Merida seems to have quite a few FSA components. The Giant uses 105 brakes etc. What I will do is go and try both and take the one that fits me best. It seems that I can't go wrong either way.

I've narrowed down my choice for a new bike to a Merida Scultura Evo 905 and a Giant TCR C1 . Any thoughts on the choice?

Agreed. My blood went cold when I heard Aki Anastasiou mention that it involved a fatality. The intersection is just around the corner from my house. It's amazing that there's been no further news.
