  3. That's a huge relief!! I have 5
  4. Thank you!! It doesnt matter how you do the eggs? Poach, boil, scramble, fry? guess not fry due to the oil? Thanks again
  5. Care to elaborate on the "eat healthy" part? I stay away from fizzy drinks and junk food but still struggle with belly fat. I have monitored my portions closely the last two weeks and short of weighing them i think i am eating less than i was a month ago but i still cant shake off a gram!
  6. Hello All, Please share your thoughts on the following: Thermo Genic supplements (increase core temp to aid fat burn) Vs A diet that for the first while puts you in a calorie deficient to aid in fat reduction. Bare in mind that both options include a regular exercise at least twice a week, and no other supplements or snack replacements are taken. If anyone takes the various options on the market of Thermo genics i'd love some feedback. If you have suggestions on building lean muscle and losing fat i'd love to hear. Thanks
  7. ey...all good.. its called rate n rave for a reason.. I wish i could have a top of the range bike for less than a yrs salary.. its imperative that my narrow minded views are broadened by debate!
  8. in all defense i did say "(other than having the name printed on it -- ethics)" A replica frame is exactly that a replica frame..however the ethics of putting the same brand name on a replica is wrong i agree! Making a profit is what all business strive for, but my argument is how affordable should biking be for everyone? Why should bikes cost 100k and others 10k with the same mold and and and..? Anyway.. moving along. I hear you and just wish it was more affordable for me to ride a santa cruz with sram components..#notgonnahappen.
  9. Does that make them Proudly south african? What about the alu frames in their line up?
  10. Good thing i said i know of two off hand. I did ask "Anyone have this information at hand?".. If i knew anything about building bikes i would. But i think importing is what has made our debate worthwhile.
  11. Have a look online at bike suppliers in SA. None of them are ashamed to admit that the bikes are manufactured in the east. Be it China, Taiwan, or Kazakhstan.. labour there is dirt cheap, they get the benefit of having a company mass purchase material for them and import costs are insignificant when comparing manufacturing in SA..China=no strikes for higher wages..no loss of production..
  12. I will echo this sentiment. HOw many frames are actually fabricated in SA?? i know two off hand that are proudly south african assemblies and no more.. Anyone have this information at hand?
  13. True very true!! advertising is budgeted and so is sponsorships..so no matter how small that piece of pie becomes i feel its still huge in comparison to what a sparky or plumber or any artisan charging for his skills is making..
  14. Sure lets do that.. Rent, elec, water, rates, salary of one tech to assemble/ 60 (frames per month.. on avg they expect to sell..) = a killer profit none the less.
  15. I don't think there is anything wrong with this (other than having the name printed on it -- ethics). It is adding competition to the market and will inevitably drive down the hugely inflated prices!! Bikes are still a niche market and unfortunately all the big players are keeping their prices high. I have it on good authority that an alu frame could cost as little as 2k to roll, weld, and incl material..this same fram is painted and a pretty name applied and is sold for 14k.... what other industry is making that much profit ?
  16. LIKE!
  17. I used to purchase Ride and Bicycling and once even tread.. BUT.. because i have bills to pay and a family to feed and mtb comes a close 5th in my list of priorities i cant read a magazine that is focused on bikes costing R30k and give 1star to a bike that costs less than R20k (budget category).. When honestly, has anyone ever considered what markup these clowns put on the bikes - - - Naturally they can afford to throw parts at editorial staff to punt their own product....I ride a great bike, gets me up the hills and down the otherside.. I give me 5stars for trying..and the bike 5stars for keeping my upright and near as dammit to my target weight.
  18. Inside the the hubs i have used a very high quality grease (shell gadus) available at some motor spares shops in a tube form AND.....on all threads (hubs pedals and skewers) i have been applying copper compound..which i have found to be a huge advantage when removing them..
  19. Th Theres no ways hes ever having kids/more kids.... poor chap
  20. I read that online, "there will be very little timber" so noo correction required..thanks for your reply.
  21. Prob not much help....BUT.. I recently undertook disassembling my front hub and to my amazement i found there to be no problem at all inside there..The problem i had before i undertook the strip was a wobbly and sluggish wheel.. I merrily continued checking all my bearings on my mic to make sure they all conform and look at the inner raceways with a pen and could find no grooves and then i repacked the grease and reassembled..but heres the funny thing... I no longer have a sluggish wheel or a wobbly one.. I think the hub may have been over tightened thus causing a greater friction than normal.. i had a look online and found some articles about this and there is no torque requirement other than "you gotta feel it man" when assembling it.. As mentioned..it may/may not be relevant to you..
  22. Hi there, I couldn't find anything similar in any of the forums so i thought i'd ask the question here. If i have paid for my 42.2KM Mandela day MTB ride to hear that all the trails in the Howick area have been closed untill further notice (living in Howick i appreciate them doing this the wind is so fierce!!) what would happen to our entries if it was deemed unsafe to ride the race? Fire warnings are high at the moment and as strong as anyone is trying to pedal like a bat out of hell to get away from a fire my money is on the fire winning that race. On another note. Is there anyone taking part tomorrow that is doing it for the hell of it and not the prize money?? I fall into this category and could use someones shadow as there is no timber and very little shade.. Cheers
  23. Thanks so much! keeping the spirit high. I have enjoyed reading all the replies and have learnt alot today. Thanks
  24. REally appreciate that little storry. Shedding some light on a very difficult subject.
  25. Appreciate your response there, thanks. I agree with you entirely regarding the insurance premiums. However the day to day hiring does become tricky if someone is into night riding/wee hours of the morning riding. Thanks again..
